Freedom of Information Act
« on: June 05, 2020, 08:38:43 AM »
If anyone is interested in learning how to get access to police body camera footage, reports, information about an officer, etc... there is a free training today at 3:00pm EST.

As this is relevant to current world events, it could also be interesting to request reports written by police that involve skateboarding at high profile spots, if they exist. The police's response to Love Park comes to mind. Or just go through a list of reports involving skateboarding.

Body camera footage has been used to convict police of crimes where otherwise they would walk free. Until the system we live in drastically changes for the better, it's wiser to be aware of every tool at your disposal should you, or someone you know, be put into a situation involving a legal battle with the police.

A cop turning off their body camera is evidence in proving they are untrustworthy and therefore more likely to be guilty. We know this, but judges and juries need to be convinced as well.

Personally, a cop turning off their camera should mean instant termination, fines, and jail time, but as we've seen, they do not fear retalliation for their actions.

theres lots of people who dont have the means to take their case to trial whether it was on body cam or not. completely fabricated cases. i doubt youll convince any judges because they like their jobs. its just another way to give them more power and squash out the poor under the false impression of doling out justice

Make turning the camera's off on purpose an illegal act.  It protects both citizen and cop when evidence is needed to see what happened.

they do way worse shit all the time without penalty lol as if theyre not turning off a camera. every case where the camera is off without good reason on arrival needs to get thrown out or reviewed. ones where theyre caught on dash cam turning it off all those cases need to be dropped. until thats standard practice without red tape fuck having one all of them
