I'm on a mac now.

It's a little girl's computer.

I kinda like it now.

So teach me some tricks I need to know.

command c=copy
command v= paste
command w= closes window
command m=minimize
command h=hide application
command tab= lets you flip through applications
command o=open
command t=new tab
command n=new window
command shift 3= screen grab
j rewinds, k pauses and unpauses, l fastfowards in quicktime
command alt/option control 8 will invert colors
command s save
in preview command 0 will show the pictures real size
commad a= highlight all
command e=eject a disk or hard drive
command f=find
if you take the a finger from each hand and move them across the pad in opposite directions everything in a window gets bigger. if you move them together they will become smaller

fn f9 allows you to chose between any open window between all open applications, fn f10 allows you to choose between any open windows in whatever application, fn f11 will hide every open window

I think the first thing you need to do is open Limewire.

shift command 4 is screen grab isnt it?
cmnd option + is zoom in
cmnd option - is zoom out

forgot to add that if you hold control and use two fingers to scroll upwards you can zoom in as well

I decided to grab a mac to get more Final Cut work, but also use Parallels to run my Avid and keep that up.

But then Stabbin showed me the way of the perfectly brand new refurb Macbook Pro that was cheaper than balls.

Mevs, thanks for the downloads link. Never even thought of it.

Anyone got any other useful apps? Has anyone used Parallels? Did anyone else switch from boxers to briefs to panties when they got their macs too?

if you get a mac just for final cut. save your cash and get adobe premiere both program works equally well except final cut cost $$$$

im not going to pay for any program

even so im accustomed to fcp, it might have the same layout and design as premiere but im not that down to learn on another program

The only work available for using Premiere is porn, and I'm talking very low end budget porn. Final Cut and Avid are industry standards for a reason.

The refurbs are on the bottom of the page at the online store. I originally tried using some employee and student discounts from places I didn't work at. Turns out the refurbs are ten times cheaper. Mine came brand spanking new. Plastic still on. Box still sealed.

Are there any more awesome apps I should be looking for? Anyone have to deal with the Firewire 800-400 adapters yet?

If your using any bootlegged software, get a program called "Littlle Snitch". It blocks individual programs from connecting to the internet.

So wrong. I've had Macs and PC's, and I currently have both.

My experiences with PC have broke down many times, needed repairs, needed reformatting due to viruses multiple times and have proved to be an all round headache in general.

Mac's on the other hand, my parents still use my old mac G4. It's 8 years old and has never had a problem, EVER. And still runs great.

Yea they are more expensive, but they also don't fuck up 24/7. So it's a trade off, and worth it.

Honestly, the only thing I have found better on a PC is gaming (hence better video cards). Other than that, there's pretty much no reason to get a PC unless there's specific software you need to use that only runs on PC.
