The intros giving me flashbacks to like Pawn Stars and American Pickers and whatever super formulaic reality shows I was watching like 5 years ago was made worth it by the skating. Pole jam contest alone was gnarly.
seeing zion take that slam and then walk away limping, telling andy roy he wasn't fucking with the thing anymore, it got me wondering. do you think those big brands (nike, red bull, monster energy) are down with their riders (dudes like zion and ninejah) participating in kotr? i could see somewhere down the road these "athlete" companies incorporating a list of prohibited activities into their riders' contracts, similar to what goes on in the mlb/nba/nfl. i remember when andrew bynum blew out his knee while bowling, and people got pissed saying that this guy shouldn't be doing any activities that could compromise his health during the season. i could see red bull telling their dudes like hey, no doing six foot pole jams during the sls season. at the end of the day, it is skateboarding, and they are professional skateboaders, but i could see the suits thinking that a lot of the unsavory antics that go down on kotr aren't great for that mainstream, sls audience they're trying to reach. but then i was thinking, maybe they are backing it, in the sense that it could add to these dudes' "street cred."
