Isnt Duffs still in business because they are popular overseas? I dont understand what Dakine has to do with skateboarding and their ads dont help. I remember an old Dakine ad with just a picture of Lamare Hemmings holding a sword and I was confused. This isnt related to skate companies but I am suprised that cd players are still being produced by some companies.

lol I dont even think there in business anymore, unless Nyjahs dad is running it.
I can confirm this... I just got back from our shop and he's been leaving messages trying to pitch boards.

Additionally: Yatzco. I never thought that company would last a year.

i'm not big on silver but their team being stacked is probably the reason why they're staying in business.
kails, p-rod, beibel, dyrdek, sheckler, chaz ortiz, gustavo, nyjah, etc.  sheckler used to be on silver too.

duffs are not popular in the uk, except in the discount stores like tkmaxx. the only people who buy them are mums and teachers.

People love Stacks and High Five in the northeast.
Both those companies have sick art direction.

See a lot of kids skating 1031 price point boards.

Silver does suck, Nyjah is on venutre now though. As for biebel, i/we won't say anything when he skates ventures but puts a silver sticker on the hangar. I would too, if i rode for silver. Gotta hide the shame

Yeah, seriously, I've been saying this for years.  The only time i ever see anyone drinking one, is when the redbull car drives up to a place I'm at and they give them out for free.  Seriously how's this company in business at all.

ill start it off by saying ambiguous and foundation

In the past 2.5 years I've only bought one deck that wasn't a foundation.

Seriously, though, how the shit does Gravis make any money on their skate shoes.  I've never seen them in any shops, and none of the giant online/mailorder people seem to carry them.  Also I've never even seen someone wearing them....Ever.

I have no idea how Dekline still exists. I worked a shop counter in 04, our owner was so hyped on Dekline based on how cheap you could get them. Every pair of them went into the sale pile. They were like chuck's but a thicker, clunkier sole. Even in the 12.99 pile, the only people who ever bought them were hippies that wandered in thinking all skate shops were headshops. I know they've put together better shoes since, but I still have never seen anybody wear them, let alone purchase them.

I can't understand how Darkstar still functions as a woodshop that can pay pro riders. The only Darkstar board I'd ever seen in person was seeing Guy Kampfen randomly eating ice cream on the street in Florida years back.

Seriously, most skaters probably have one lying around, but there is no need to ever get more than one of them and i've seen those videos of kids playing with 7 ply wooden decks with bearings in the wheels (why?), so it's not 'fingerboarders' buying these fucking things. I know young kids must get them to play with but they can't be that popular. They even sell finger bikes in my local 'skate' shop...

You wouldn't imagine how many Dekline shoes I see here in Spain, I mean skatepark rats and shop sponsored all wear dekline here, its weird.

i really don't understand how red bull can sponser all those events and teams, just with selling an energy drink

It cost REDBULL about  3 cents to make an 8oz can of that magic elixir. A case of REDBULL will cost you $32.00 for 24. at COSTCO.
REDBULL makes approx 50 cents profit from the sale of an 8oz can.
Thats a load of cash.
They have to sponsor all of those events and athletes. Advertising is a marketing expense and can be written off.
