Has anyone skated this setup? I freakin love the 8.25 aws/hab deck, I’ve had quite a few of them, but never tried with 5.8s, always 5.6s. I’m asking for your opinion simply because I’m not down to waste money on a setup I’m not going to like. In theory, this setup will be good for me, but want to hear from others.

I have skated it on both 5.6 and 5.8. If you like it on 5.6 I’d imagine you’ll be fine. Disclaimer on my part: I enjoy 8.5 trucks on 8.25 and 8.38 decks. I like the wider hanger for grinds and stability and don’t notice a significant difference with my limited bag of flip tricks.

You're serious with this?
8.5" trucks was / has been the standard for 8.25" decks for well over a decade.
It will be fine.

You'll be good to go. Their 8.25 feels wider anyway, so 5.8s work great here.

Right on, I will go for it, thanks!

That’s because you probably didn’t start skating before 144/158/5.6 trucks were a thing. Your options before that were: magic carpet or hot rod. You had to pick whether you wanted to be better at flipping your board or grinding coping. The AH gray eagle with Indy 149s, Bones Reds, and 54 mm Bones STF was my go-to for a while.

Ime 8.5 trucks work really well on 8.25 boards.

did it once, hated it, the board snapped in 30 minutes on a flatground tre, didn’t even do a slide and it became a wall hanger. i don’t like that shape but it worked as expected, so if you like it then you’ll enjoy this set up. i skate different 8.25s with 5.8s often and it’s fine.
