Yep. Huge fan of British Comedy and the 90’s-00’s was a golden era. I own that one, the various Alan Partridge series, Saxondale, Big Train, BrassEye, Jam, Nathan Barley, Snuff Box, Garth Marenghi’s DARKPLACE, Man to Man With Dean Learner, Look Around You, Nighty Night, The IT Crowd, Mighty Boosh, AD/BC, etc.
Thanks for listing all these No Wave. I'm only familiar with Dark Place so it's a lot of new stuff for me to look into.
You might like Black Adder. It's beyond dumb but sometimes that's part of what makes comedy great.
My pleasure. Man to Man With Dean Learner is more or less the second series of Garth Maregnhi’s DARKPLACE, but it’s a chat show spoof with Matthew Holness playing each episode’s guest. Try to track it down. Toast of London (Matt Berry) is a great one from the past decade too.
Nice rec. I’ve been a huge Black Adder fan since I was a teen, especially the first and fourth series. One of the all-time greats. Also love other “oldies” like Absolutely Fabulous, The Young Ones, Are
You Being Served?, Fawlty Towers, Steptoe and Son, etc.
Hot take but the IT Crowd is just Friends for British people. Laugh track is atrocious
Very hot take. Chris Morris and Matt Berry’s bosses (Denholm and Douglas Reynholm), plus Richard Ayoade (Maurice Moss), fully elevate The IT Crowd above the laugh track, but I kinda see what you’re saying. Friends is fucking garbage though. Seinfeld would be closer, but I don’t think an appropriate American counterpart really exists. We’re not silly enough over here).
BTW, Graham Linehan is also responsible for The IT Crowd. Speaking of…

Extensive list. Nice one.
Father Ted?
So mixed about Graham Linehan stuff after he made a huge point to be the biggest TERF asshole this side of JK Rowling.
Yeah. Definitely revealed himself to be an intolerant kook, but I still really like Father Ted, The IT Crowd, etc. and considering he had a hand in 75% of the 90s/00s shows I listed, I don’t have a problem still watching and loving his work. You have to admit that the “GAY the Musical” episode is still pretty hilarious, even if no one would dare make that today. I initially thought it was making fun of homophobes, but now I’m not so sure. 😬
