This guy is so underrated! I’ve been watching his stuff for a while and it seems his style sticks out like a sore thumb. Love it!

^ Seeing Hugo and Pacome casually play flatground SKATE at l'Arsenal in Rennes around the time Crosswalk came out completely made me rethink how I looked at skateboarding on the spot. Hugo was going faster than I had seen anyone else skate at the time and had incredibly loose trucks (for 2009 standards) that allowed him to land stuff that was ninety degrees short yet still roll away flawlessly without a ticktack nor speed loss, sometimes he would completely change direction upon landing and still look unaffected. I had never seen a skateboard move like that, or even open space used like that for skateboarding, in an era where the hottest trend to bite was still Fully Flared; honestly the only other skater who ever left me such a mind-blowing impression live since has been Glen Fox. IIRC at that point in time he was on fucking Circa and Cartel (pretty much the French Jart), which somehow made him look even more fucked. Also, to this day, he's a sweetheart.

Hugo is dope. This had a lot of truly original stuff that makes me wanna go out and skate fast.

This is going to sound stupid but is anyone else getting Frog x Magenta vibes? Obviously he has nothing to do with Frog but this video’s overall aesthetic felt like a marriage of the two that I quite enjoyed.

I just watched some of his old parts and I really love this guy. He is super fun to watch. He is a kind of french Chris Milic, even looks like him a bit. He does creative fun combos and through some gnarly stuff from time to time (Tho his part from 10 years ago that someone link in a previous post is filled with bangers)

This one was fun, I somehow love his fakie bigspin at 2min. Just a basic one on flat but thought it was beautiful in that line.

so good!
his part from live skate magazine from years back was somehow quite influental for me. his unique appproach is a breath of fresh air today, but even more in 2012 or whenever that came out. somehow I‘m really thankful for skaters like him who keep it interesting, I guess I would have lost my interest in skating when its all about jumping down huge gaps and rails. yeah hugooo, thank you! :)

That was super fun, but good lord that filming was a mess. What's new though.

Eh. It didn’t bother me. This part wouldn’t be the same if the filming was consistently smooth and steady.

Yeah, almost liked it even more because of the filming!

I just realized this is a good opportunity to share Crosswalk in full again, I don't think it's been seen overseas all that much. That time period was a great one for the independent scene in France with both this one and Frame By Frame coming out back to back. Pacome did a stellar job with all the little effects and skits and using nothing but a TRV I believe. Personal favorite part is Quentin Chambry skating to that Juno song (IIRC?), it's simple skating but no one was really doing it like that around here when this vid dropped.
