Anyone else notice it has the Ultracush 3D insole, rather than Popcush or other variant?

That is the one with the hard plastic heel to mid part isn't it?

These were in the TNT Advanced Prototype and the Chima shoes that I saw, but could also be in others.

is that darker piece of the 3d insole plastic or gel? from the review it seems like it's plastic but is it really that stiff?

I think the material is likely the same hard plastic used for support (as opposed to cushioning) in the mid-sole of the  passport model, so not gel like at all.

it is HARD PLASTIC.  there's the light blue which is flexible, the darker blue which is firmer, but can move, and then there is the clear plastic which is extremely stiff.  I couldnt get it to bend with regular effort and I was sorta scared to crack em. 

yea, the insole is essentially a removable mid-sole and it supplies ALL of the support for the shoe.  without it, the shoe is a sock.

Where are you even seeing that the skate Grosso's are ultracush? Im trying to search and only see the sk8 mid pros from before the revamp having ultracush.

Man Vans is releasing some cool models but they are getting me all confused on shit.
Went into the local surfshop that has a ton of vans and they had lots of "skate classics" or Pro Classics" with insoles that were not marked (ie popcush or ultra cush) and they didn't have the new label. But they didn't look like the old pros? idk it was nice the shop kept all the "authentic" together on one side but still makes it difficult. edit-I just realized some of those might be under the surf line causing even more chaos

The new skate line does look good, but just today I noticed thumb sized hole had appeared on the upper (where it creases while walking) of my half cab pros that I’ve only occasionally worn for chilling, and I got this pair as a replacement for sk8 hi pros were the soles unglued/separated on both feet in different parts so I don’t think I’ll be buying more vans for a while even at 50% off.

Still have a pair of pig suede authentics stashed away that I have high hopes for...

If they made an off white suede pair on a white sole, I’d probably bite.

I just tried those on. The tongue is very thick. The sole feels good but I couldn't deal with how puffy the shoe looked and felt in general. And I like es'. If you wear bulkier shoes then they're probably fine.

Damn, I definitely don’t wear “puffy” shoes . I prefer cupsoles with a thinner upper , like fastbreaks or something similar. If I see them in the wild I’ll try them on but that’s not likely to happen so I’ll just admire the pictures. Thanks for the info!

The tongue squishes down after a while to about 2/3 the puffiness so don't be put off. I'm not a massive fan of puffy shoes, and once these are worn in they feel a lot like the Swift.

Is it easy to take out the puff in the tongue? Years ago, I disliked how puffy the tongue was on the AV3s so I'd pull out the foam from the tongue on every pair. It was super easy and made a huge difference.

I hear ya, but they're noticeably much puffier than the Swift in general - have a very stumpy look too when looking down. I've skated several pairs of the Swift. That Quattro tongue would have to be cut open and the stuffing mostly removed for me to even consider it. Still a nice looking shoe (could do without that 'ribbing' along the outside edge of the sole though - already heard several people comment that feature was a turn off), just a bit too puff tuff for my tastes.

Accel Slims are the ideal shoe for me. Shame that the 10.5 black suede/gum sole the shop got in that shoe was actually an 11 in the vegan colorway when I opened the box. Gonna stick to my deep stash of shoes I bought last year until more Accel Slims are available.

This is a shop that seems to get shoes a lot earlier than others.  Almost positive it’s a general release
