backstory: skating a long time, have never in my life had good kickflips. fast-forward to now: i've been seriously neglecting any sort of street skating for the last few months, and have lost a shit-ton; it takes me a while to land tricks i usually have first try. so i decided, in my very lowered state of skating, i need to relearn shit from the ground up. so i started learning kickflips from scratch. all my life i've had my front foot really weird when i set up for them--i can do kickflips onto or into whatever (kickflip back tail, back smith, etc) but they look dumb because of my foot, because it's really angled. and when i do plain kickflips, they're floppy and low. so i put my foot pretty much straight, like an ollie position, and made myself learn them like that. and now, although they're not perfectly consistent, i have good kickflips. poppy and caught well. so even though i've lost everything else, the fact that i have good kickflips makes me so damn happy, i don't even care i've lost my other shit. it'll come back. plus, it's not like i haven't been skating, i've just been skating pools and ramps, so my tranny skills are best i've ever had them. kickflips rule!
