How did the clip starting at 1:25 end up in this? Nobody told him he popped like 10cm after the thing begins and still didn't even come close to clearing it? And it's his fucking ender.

i think you're (understandably) misinterpreting the spot. it's not one big flat gap. the bits he takes off from and lands on are little bumps at either end of a flat raised area, which is what he's trying to clear. like an incredibly low pyramid ramp.
he does case the landing a little, but only by a cm or two.
