Hey dudes, seeing as winter is upon us where do you guys skate in the winter? I go to Kzoo Skate Zoo in Kalamazoo or Modern in Royal Oak. What are some other good indoor spots in Michigan?

Inkster

Not inkster... never inkster
Modern is about a 10 minute drive from my spot right now.
I’m not a big fan of TRP, but some good people work/go there.

Get that Lebanese food if you are near dearborn

Words cannot explain how awesome this edit is. I've been skateboarding downriver and the west side of Detroit for 17 years now. Outside of a dumbass name "WhiteBread" this is the best Michigan skateboarding I've seen since Daykare videos and One Percent. I've skated with a lot of these dudes, this was so so so awesome to see.
Come to Michigan and skate, and like the dude earlier said, get some good Middle Eastern food. This area rips.

Oh damn, I appreciate that. That's far too kind!
Re: the name, named his blog that forever ago (as we're not really anything special) and I just ran with it.

You could always visit Brainerd Street Bowl or get a key. I skated the bowl once or twice in college and it was always a great time.

Brainard is done for the time being, sadly. I've been hearing rumors they're just moving and doing some street section shit.
-
I’m in Lansing and mostly skating a crusty tennis court by my house on the south side. If anyone knows has any spots with a roof overhead close by I would die with gratitude.

Damn, let's hope those rumors are true! Other than that and the parks already listed, it's probably gotta just be parking garage missions.
If you find yourself in Ann Arbor, there is a parking garage between the power plant and undergraduate science building on the Umich campus that has spots all over, but can be a bust unless you are there late at night.
The Ashley Street garage in town is also filled with little hidden gem ledges and has some nice flat ground, flat gaps, and walls down on the street.
Back on campus, there is also an underground low granite ledge/curb with curb cuts... "The Lair." Back side of the Rackham Grad studies building off East Huron street. If you visit this spot late at night, you wont be disappointed. After years of skating it in the winters, I only experienced gentle kick outs by janitors after hours.
On that note, I recommend skating these particular spots only late at night or on weekends, especially the on-campus ones. I'm biased because these were my winter go-to's for a long time, but they are guaranteed fun if you bring friends and make the most of them.

The building where the bowl was located has been sold. The wood from the bowl is going to be used for another project (not another bowl though) that is going to be awesome, but likely not completed until after this winter.

Zero Gravity in Waterford. Slippery AF but a blessing in the winter. Always way less people than modern.
-
It’s called a parking garage numb nuts

May be we can go to any skate park as I missing skating so much while we were in lockdown. I want to do some amazing tricks where whoever sees it might get ending becoming a fan of mine.
Please guys decide the place so we can meet up and do some skating all day long.

Stoked to see new people ripping here, but man, people have been blowing this spot out on IG lately, haha. I've had less crowded sessions at Modern.

I hope I didn't blow it up with this, I didn't think too many would read it... Whenever I skated there years back it was never a bust, is that still the case?

haha nah, people have been posting it a lot all winter. I went the night before Thanksgiving and there were like half a dozen people there. I keep seeing IG footage with what looks like more and more people every night so it's only a matter of time before they get strict again.

Yeah most likely, campus police can be pretty awful about skating too. I'm thinking about taking a trip out that way this weekend because I have a long one, maybe get a sesh in before they clamp down.

I've been dying to get up to AA or Kzoo to skate but were on mandatory Saturdays at my job right now so I've been limited to skating my garage. I miss living in a city with winter spots.

Know of three friends who contracted covid after skating modern on a busy night. They may have not gotten it from there but they all had it while skating there so be careful.
Been seeing some friends skate some parking garage in Ann Arbor so there's definitely something to skate that way.
Also, Olympia in Ypsi has a cool little setup in the shop that I got to skate awhile back that's worth checking out.

Olympia rules. At the moment only the mini ramp is available and you have to rent it out, but if you go in with a couple (trusted) buddies it's worth a sesh.

This is a good point if you are very stupid and also a dickhead but for those of us who are not very stupid nor dickheads it's actually a very flawed point and god you suck.

Yeah, a very self centered dickhead argument. Plus, people of all ages can be immunocompromised. I'm not afraid for myself as much as I'm afraid of unknowingly becoming an agent for spread and playing a part in the deaths of others.
But by all means, go get your feeble grind on the indoor skatepark flatbar.

Don't forget, your feeble grind on the indoor skatepark flatbar didn't happen unless you post it on Instagram! Bonus dickhead points awarded if unmasked in the clip.

The Lair was bust city for a minute when I was at U of M. Like cops ambushing from both entrances/exits. Glad it’s cooled down.
I do not plan to go to Modern at all this winter. I’ve seen more clips of people wearing helmets than masks there.

I've been snowskating as long as I've been skating. Just go outside find a spot and breathe in that fresh pine. It's nice too cause it's not as loud so people don't kick you out. Gotta later up though cause this time of year it doesn't get warmer than 3 degrees.

Bump because this park is a lot of fun. Checked it out for the first time yesterday for fossil night and stayed till closing (12am). Very nice mini ramp, although a little slick!
