Did anyone go to the premiere?
Let's hear some spoilers!
-
You must be the first person I see who liked spoilers
-
What do you want to know? It's gonna be a video with crazy tricks that you'll forget withing two weeks.
-
There's a bunch of tricks in there i will still definitely remember in two weeks.

Just switch, but yeah it’s a full part.
Villani & Trent mcclung have 2 song parts
Tre Williams last trick is a Tre

opener/ender??
-
Frankie opener
Tiago ender.
After the credits there more.
It's a good vid. But would've liked to have seen a full Bastien and Devine part. I think it was about 7 full parts. Then some guys had like 1-9 tricks.
Well worth watching. Paul said this video been 1 year in the making, with that I'm impressed.
-
Some really good parts in there.
Giovanni and surprisingly Ribeiro s parts(and offcourse tiago) were my favs! Ribeiro s rail enders are nuts!
Franky was kinda dissapoiting, his NB and other primitive part are better. Mcclung had a crazy nbd ender! Miles part had good skating but poor music...no prod part
Soundtrack was just ok, could ve made the vid even better.

They've been working on this a year, but have dropped maybe an edit once every few months which means the rest of what we got this year was throwaway. These guys are really out here daily getting shit. Don't like their product but can't deny they're all hungry
-
What about Wade, Spencer, and Brain Peacock? Did Paul have a part? I remember him being hurt really badly and saying he was eager to start filming.
-
guessing there was no surprise ‘welcome to the team’ part like a lot of people expected but that’s cool. weird how they would drop the last part in the video online before dropping the rest of it for everyone to see? the internet has truly ruined skate videos. there’s no shock factor anymore.
-
please tell me about Pedro Biagio

As if Rowley didn’t have the best part in Sorry even though it wasn’t the ender.

Just went to a premiere at PLA, he didn’t have a full part but had some good clips in the montage. Did a sick manual combo at that ledge spot in Brazil

Cmon, I heard JB pulled a fs 5-0 180 out...….IN A LINE!

Are we really out here talking shit on JB? This is bullshit.

Are we really out here talking shit on JB? This is bullshit.
Dude, I grew up watching JB. influenced the shit on how I judged form and push on a skateboard. He still has the style, but his lines have been way too similar recently
-
Any info on spenny, wade, music?

Agreed, dude is 40+, any footage at this point is a bonus, plus he put out a full part this year. Style for days.

Giovanni Vianna is so good, really liked his part, great music too
-
Well, that was completely and utterly fucked. So much to digest and take in.
Never heard of Giovanni Vianna before but that was fucking insane. His last few tricks were genuinely shocking. Felt like he should've had first part. Also he skated to Dirty Beaches!
-
Video of the decade. I few too many yeah right vibes on it.
I wonder how Miles didnt get the last part.
-
That was sick, could have done with less slo mo but overall great. Really enjoyed Wade/JB/Spencer section.
-
It looks like wade is never going to film that full part. This was the worst wade footage he has ever put out. That fakie variel flip to barely grind and that Nollie flip tail 270 out really sucked for him. Maybe he is done? I don’t know.
Carlos, miles, Giovanni, and others were amazing
-
Cab to hurricane was something.
-
20 shot sequence rebooted
Primitive has put out more footage in 3-4 years than all major board brands combined.
I love it, they are shitting on everyone
-

it's because of his pants
-
fucking hell, I just finished giovanni's part and my mind is already blown to pieces. can't remember the last time a video got me so stoked
-
Wow that was fucking impressive.
Carlos continues to surprise me. Bump to kinked up rail?
Great video. Will rewatch.
Thanks for sharing that unlisted link.

I feel like videos don't even need to be made anymore... They could just say, "We're thinking of making a new video named Encore. Just picture everything you thought was going to be in it, and that's pretty much what we would have filmed. Now go buy our stuff."
I'm not saying the skating isn't incredible, it's just that every video looks and feels exactly the same to me. These new videos aren't made for my generation though, so if this is everything the current generation craves, then I genuinely hope they enjoyed it.

it is because he's still wearing those special-ed shoes. that opening sw flip was beyond perfect

I mostly just skim through videos these days and can get a pretty solid idea of what its all about from that.
-
Carlos’ front lip was amazing but I find his fully buttoned up polo neck and cap combos more irritating than I should.
It makes him look part special ed, part nonce
-
About halfway done, and I can’t help but notice how giant a squad they have.
Frankie is such a weird fit but for some reason it just works for me and I’m glad they put him on.
-
yo what happened to Bastien? when his nine club came out he made it sound like he had a lot in the pipes since recovering from his ACL injury. Wasn't he supposed to have a Battle Commander? he also alluded to working hard getting clips for something primitive related too? Thought it would have been this.
-
It's good to see Mike Shinoda's career is going well after Linkin Park. Love his style.
I wish there was more Spencer Hamilton. Bastien? When did he skate?
Tiago did too much heelflips.
-
Miles filmed this whole part in 3 months or something? Fucked
-
i just finished frankies part and wow..that may be a sleeper classic that people talk about way down the road. really, really, good. pretty timelessso far the filming is on fucking point. the bench seesion clip was so rad.
edit: ribeiros opening line made me pause the video. i was not ready for that shit, holy fuck. Ribeiro could be a SOTY this year and i don't think anyone could really argue that. skating like westgate up that rail what the fuck!
Hey Smyth! remember when you woudn't take him off chocolate flow? lol good thing crailtap is thriving now buddy
-
I enjoyed this video way more than I thought I would. Miles' part is fucked up good and Franky always comes through!
-
Miles last three tricks. switch jamie thomas, switch mark appleyard, switch lindsey robertson. not bad.
-
-franky, ribeiro and ginger boy back-to-back-to-back was a face-melter. Franky has actually toned down his wacky trick selection but his skating hit me just as hard, if not harder, dude can huck! and still, that little shuv gap, shuv 5050 in nyc could easily make QS top 10.
-I'm glad the wade/spenny section didn't get the 'token canadian' edit, thanks Spanish!
-I only skipped mcclung's part. can't stand his weird leg steeze and every trick turning into some contorted crook variation. to quote an old YWSism "he skates like a potato"
-interesting song choice for the second montage to use the BOC 'fully flared mini ramp HD bonus' song, (in 06 that was one of the first glimpses into HD fisheye skate footage and well, here we are now.)
-tre williams + gonz shirt = good times
some goood rewatch value, and honestly despite the excessive slowmo, it wasn't torture to sit through this 46 min vid which says a lot in 2019.
-
-I only skipped mcclung's part. can't stand his weird leg steeze and every trick turning into some contorted crook variation. to quote an old YWSism "he skates like a potato"
his style is really weird, but his ender is one the best handrail tricks you'll ever see. done so proper
-
Franky's ender was just bonkers. Such a perfect trick for that spot.
Giovanni's last few tricks absolutely blew my mind.
What a bunch of maniacs.
-
Damn this shit goes
Filming, tricks, editing, soundtrack...it’s all there
-
Franky villani is fuckin great
-
Franky is great.
I'm used to not liking the "rap" songs in these kinds of videos, but Ribeiro's was actively distracting. Really, really terrible choice. 2nd to last trick should have been his last trick, that nosegrind was sagging at the end.
Giovanni Caballero is really fucking good. Had to watch it on mute, but it was worth it.
Montage was good. Wade. I feel like Spencer Hamilton has been around for 20 years or some reason. He probably should have filmed five more tricks and gotten his own part.
I wasn't aware the Mcclungs were still a thing. There's a lot of fakie backside tailslides to flip out in this video.
Never heard of this Marek fellow. A lot of people on this team seem to share a nearly identical aesthetic/bag of tricks, that's enough nollie inward heel noselsides for a while. I am sure I am the first to notice this. Don't know Jenn Soto either. I am an old man. Soon I will suspend my Thrasher subscription, stop watching new videos all together, and contentedly reside entirely in the decade of my greatest ability via its media.
Charlie Munro seems pretty cool. I like bricks. I think bricks are a big part of why Pj Ladd's part in his video was such a big deal. If he'd been doing all that shit on a perfectly paved playground would people have been as blown away? I don't know. Why am I reviewing a video as I watch it? No one is going to read it as they watch it. As life in general, there is no purpose to this.
Regarding Biago's noseslide pop up caballerial to nose manual thing; regardless of how many time I watch it, I am no closer to understanding it.
Tre Williams has a good push. Should have been more pushing.
I'm guessing there isn't going to be a Paul Rodriguez part. Is he aware of the phallic nature of his nickname P-Rod? Or is it only a reflection of my own mutilated psyche that such an association exists? Miles Silvas is really good. I like his little chain. I can't wear necklaces myself, it feels like I'm being strangled. I don't even wear the lanyard at work like I'm supposed to. It's been five years though, I don't think anyone cares. About anything. Jesus, dude just switch backside lipslid the Hollywood rail and switch back heeled the Wallenburg. Why did they put a trick in between those two things?
Tiago's part. I watched it already. It was really good. Toe dragging all over that last switch crooks though, not on brand Tiago. Seems like Miles should have had last part.
So, that's all the thoughts I had watching this. Tune in next week when I live blog my reactions to a drop of water running down the window of the bus I am taking to nowhere.
Ok.
-
overall it's pretty close perfect. the music levels/filming/editing are all on point, tho slap will def hate parts of it. Primitive might be labeled "tech" but they are skating some of the biggest shit out there too. for being able to do technical wizardry, it's refreshing to see the restraint they have. they arent double flipping and late flipping all over the place. the ledge dancing and manual stuff is tasteful.
i wish i could get more into trent, he is amazing, but for me that was the only part i wasnt flipping out over, despite his insane ability.
maybe just me but i think Carlos could have gotten last part. his part will take a while to process..burly as it is technical. Frankie, Carlos, and Miles are major highlights, no disrespect to other skating, it's all top tier.
-
Loving it so far. I know people didn't fw Carlos having the Meek Mill song for his part but I fucking loved it, high energy shit. YOU GOTTA EAT THE DREAM. Plus the drums weren't mixed super high in the song unlike most trap stuff so you don't just hear high hats and lex luger snares all the time over the sounds of skating. Honestly if they could just make more of their board graphics not "mall-kid-core" with the various collabs I'd be way more down. I love tech shit so I'm biased but this is a great video so far.
Edit: seeing wade, spen and crew get down to fucking Big Boi and Gucci was the best shit. I'M ON MY GRIND SHAWTY. Miles killed it too, not a huge trav scott fan but it worked and it seems like the music fits the guys tastes/styles.

I don’t get it. How does adidas look at the footage Miles Silvas has been regularly producing for about 5 years now and still give Tyshawn Jones a shoe first?
It’s a fucking shame.

This is a shitty opinion but wades skating really does nothing for me; although I can appreciate him out there getting tricks at least.

Strange to see so many people being REALLY hyped on this... or even making comparisons to YEAH RIGHT (no where near the same level of pizzaz; in terms of production, music, and actual legendary skating ALL IN ONE video).
Don't get me wrong, the skating from nearly everyone was top notch... (especially Franky, Tiago, Miles, McClung and Carlos)
But I found everyone else boring. SO many people on the team have nearly the same "style" (lanky tech skater) which made things get boring fast... doing the was same old type of shit, rehashed tricks that I've seen over and over... OBVIOUSLY except for some stand out tricks.
Also I thought the music was terrible all around and ruined it. I'm guessing they ran out of budget after taking everyone on tour, paying filmers and salaries.
Terrible production in my opinion, but great skating nevertheless...
Oh and yeah...
Wade is Done. He should just quit milking it and do something else with his life. Or actually push himself and put out a good part.
And where the fuck was Paul?
Sure some yall gonna hate but that's my 2 cents. ✌
-
Props to Alan Hannon, who made a much more fun and less distracting video than his last one: https://youtu.be/dIK-9S-YzRs.
-
Hate to do it but I have to echos the Wade sentiments.
I’m terms of energy he’s so far from his top dollar section. Hard to recognise him as the same skater

ran out of budget? You may not have liked the music but you don’t put tracks from the most popular rappers today in a skate video if you ran out of budget
-
just noticed miles has a vice x primitive board and shirt in that one line. "weird flex but ok"
-
I thoroughly enjoyed that. As a whole, it probably wont be on repeat much but, most of those parts, I could pick out, watch, and get hyped to go skate a ledge.
-
bummed the rod did not deliver a part
absolutely insane level of skating. Carlos and Giovanni had my fav sections.
-

Dude, switch back board in hollywood high, switch bs heel on wallemberg, nollie back hell to switch grind in a rail, nollie straight 50 in ny rail. And the some random says: skate in ledge.
-
I liked Wade's clips - the nollie hardflip nosemanual? That was awesome, I don't even think I've seen that before, much less down something like that Barcelona "manual pad."
Brian Peacock's f/s flip switch manual switch f/s flip might've been my favourite clip in the whole thing. Also Vianna's cab nosegrind and hurricane, Silvas' switch b/s heel and his regular b/s heel (both were flawless), McClung's f/s shove nosegrind.
It is surreal though that Silvas switch b/s heelflipped Wallenberg. The concept of "the bigger the spot, the more simple the trick" is being thrown out the window.

Yeah, I just finished. The video, and I’m near positive I also achieved climax. Christ almighty.
Nothing bad to say about this. They are the best doing it right now, hands down. I love that they can put out frequent clips/montages, which is important for a brand’s success in 2019, AND still put out top notch full lengths, which used to be the standard by which companies were measured.
I think Carlos should’ve had last part, but really almost any of them could.
Oh, I guess I do have one bad thing to say. I’m totally fucking over bump to bar footage. If it’s not an awkward nollie/fakie trick or something you don’t usually see, it does nothing for me anymore.

Yeah, so? I'm not too into jumping down rails, or skating gaps anymore. When I see rad tech skating, it makes me want to go try and get some on a ledge.
-
Good stuff. Overall, a really good video, which makes me wonder why that Meek Mill song blew up my speakers. I’m not an audio nerd, so it has to be pretty blatantly bad mixing for me to notice. I’d be fine with blaming it on thrasher’s platform but I don’t think it’s that.
-
Miles SOTY

yeah really so clean too and just looks at the camera like oh shit
-
Miles does the best skating in the ugliest possible footwear
-
Loved the video, skating was top tier, but I wouldn't put it on a yeah right level since it didn't have much in the way of personality, like hijinx with the team or other fun shit. On the other hand the editing was clean and unobtrusive, I loved the effects used for introducing skaters but I'm a sucker for glitch art sorta stuff, kinda wish they'd leaned more into that between parts.
Generally enjoyed the vibe the music gave for each skater. I liked how they opened with the 80's synths to compliment the glitched title cards, but going to meek mill after was jarring. I would have had Giovanni after Franky to showcase the dudes who aren't as tech focused, follow that up with Wade and the boys with the Big Boi track that has some really nice soul samples on the beat, then hit em with Carlos and meek. After that leave it as is. I figure that way the song progression and shift in skating would make more sense.
Edit, alternatively put Carlos after Tre

Oh shit when Shine Blockas came one I started to swell up a bit. Wish there was more Dev footage but the video was great.

It’s a fucking shame.
I mean Miles had that horrible colored colab with PLA. With TJ its the NYC/ Supreme/ having creepy Bill help him with his original deal. Most people who've gotten on these big company's say that you need a plan in the pipeline when you sign with big brands. Tyshawn had his goal and he achieved it. I can't see him going further with skating at this point especially with the GQ shit. Hit hit his ceiling.I hope his uncomfortable, ugly shoe has many colorways and we can watch him fade away into obscurity.
-
Great video, Carlos should've skated to something better, I liked Franky's part way better than his other stuff, I find miles Silva's boring which sucks cause he's really good.. but that chain pants and shoes are just so gross man. Tiago is beast. Wanted a JB and Wade part :'(
-
Giovanni rules, Carlos lipslide! That Zentgraff guy had way too many clips. Where the fuck was P-Rod?
-
Does no one realize the P Rod has been skating for like 25 years and only just got his first major injury and people are wondering where the fuck his part is?
Anyway, I don’t get how the fuck people don’t like Trent. Not only is he the best of his brothers but his part was fucking good and literally the only part I went back watched as soon as it was over, before I even finished the video.
Also, don’t get me wrong Tiago’s part was insane, but I feel like his part should’ve been first and Franky should have last (although miles could have had last part too.)
PS since when does primitive make football shaped boards ?

Filming was perfect for this no filler type of film with an extra angle on everything you wanted to see again.

Also peacock guy literally eliminated his stance haha. Crazy everything looks regular.

I didn’t hate this, and... yeah I think I may have even fuckin liked it. Crazy. Primitive you’ve always looked like a half baked reimagining of an already half baked reimagining of Plan B (2.0), but this video, I don’t know... good to see full lengths happening. On a glitch scale: Pizza glitch < Primitive glitch < 7 year glitch. Franky, Giovanni and Spencer Hamilton stood out from the git go.
-
incredibly incredible. that was fucked.
-
I laughed out loud when Dazz came on. I thought it was ridiculous at first but actually it was kinda perfect.
Also, I'm totally gaga for Giovanni and his vans.
Really liked the video and will def be rewatching. So much fucking better than Never.
PS since when does primitive make football shaped boards ?
Since Franky went pro! So, for about a year now. The Fos "Franky Four Fingers" graphic came in the football shape and I hella regret never buying it.

Its simple, dont watch any video no more.
I mostly just skim through videos these days and can get a pretty solid idea of what its all about from that.
What a stupid thing to say.

it's too bad Miles has an history clip down Wallenberg with the worst outfit

tiago lowkey has first and last part with it on thrasher last week and now in the full length.

That's one unlikely looking Giovanni and he good.

Was most pumped to see Tiago's part but Giovanni came away with the most entertaining one imo. I wonder if the halfcab/cab into everything will get old, haha. Tiago and Miles killed it obviously... would've liked to see more Hamilton and Wade D.

I always look forward to wade D footage but then get let down when I actually see new wade d footage

i enjoyed the entire video, miles silvas and tiago are on a different level.
slightly disappointed by the lack of jb gillet and wade footage, but also I am happy for any footage.
-
really enjoyed it, liked the music and editing. skating was crazy good. only complaint for me is that i might not have the stamina for a 45 min video. found myself getting bored and zoning out in the middle. a 30 minute video with just the heaviest parts (franky, giovanni, miles, thiago, etc...) would have worked better for me but can't have a traditional style video without some skip parts.

Yeah idk if he's been injured or just not skating much or what.

i watched it in three stages, its nice how YouTube remembers where you are in your history.

I’d rather watch someone with “fake” style like Miles, do insane groundbreaking tricks, than watch a human tree stump like Trent McClung do a bunch of shit that’s been done before, but in a line this time.

The thread turned toxic.

Pedro Biagio had great footage.

I thought the video overall was pretty good. I think the problem is when you have so many tech ledge skater on your team you will have a video that feels very repetitive. I'd already figured that the soundtrack was going to be bad rap and hip hop that didn't match the skating. My favorite parts were Franky's, the ginger (forget his name) and Tiagos. With that said, there were quite a few mind bending NBDs.
-
Trent McClung's last trick looked so dope. Never seen that one on a handrail before.
Was hoping for more Devine Calloway, but I heard he has more footage coming out for Helas this week as well.
Not really familiar with Pedro Biagio, but he had some insane clips.
As always, Tiago is king. I always find his parts entertaining and jaw dropping. Dude looks like he is loving life.

Nothing inherintly wrong with the video but if I watched a zero video or something is the same thing. 80% of the team with similar skating similar spots. Still sick but samey.

its really nice being able to see the full trick and body and not some shaky angle
good to see traditional videos still thriving

I’d say Brian Peacock is the Lem Villemin I’ve always wanted but he puts out about as much footage if not less. Sick video though, but no Rod part? I remember he said on the 9 Club that he wanted to have a part after the credits so people could leave if they wanted to before it played.

Tough to film a part after a big knee surgery.

Tiago is just so entertaining to watch. I wish there was more footage of Jean Baptiste Gillet, but 2 clips is better than nothing and anything he does is gold. I really like seeing him skating dunks. Franky has a really cool style too.
I liked Devine's clips. I'm looking forward to seeing his Hela's clips. I follow him on instagram and he seems like a very nice dad. Every single day his story is him sending his kid off to the school bus, him getting selfie clips on a ledge, his kid coming home from school and him helping his kid do their homework.
-
Definitely liked the whole video. I can't ever get enough Franky so that's that, the read headed stepchild definitely impressed me, Tiago is always a pleasure to watch, and everyone else was solid, too.
Though, I have to agree to some degree on the McClung stuff. Dude is really, really good, but he's what I picture the modern-day version of an early 90s World Industries skater would be, seems like his booty-sticking-out and knees knocked style just brings back too many old memories that I'd prefer to not revisit. I shouldn't be bored watching someone with that level of talent, but somehow, I am.

I was thinking this morning that the same people on his team probably grew up watching P-Rod skating in City Stars, In Bloom and the Girl videos; the same way older pros grew up watching Guy Mariano in Video Days.
The skating was amazing but I tuned out 1/2 way; I can't be eating Wagyu steak for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Not saying he's not a beast, not saying his style isn't unique, he's just the polar opposite of those people who literally look like everything they land is done by the skin of their teeth and the "everything is landed bolts without an ounce of sketch" isn't always for everyone. Sometimes, a little imperfection can go a long way to having me enjoy watching someone good do their thing.
Just a personal preference thing, don't take it too hard if you're a fan.

When I take time to think about it, sk8mafia might be the greatest skateboard company ever to exist.
First off, the median age of their riders seems like it's about 31 years old and they still spell skate with an 8. That's sick on its own.
Second: they have a skater of the year (wes).
Third: they make videos I don't watch immediately because it's not usually my cup of tea, then when I find myself eventually watching the video it's amazing.
Fourth: Tyler Surrey consistently puts out amazing video parts and yet is really loyal to the company.
Fifth: They have a gang sign
Sixth: I have never seen an actual sk8mafia board in person in my entire life.

Yeah, drake is doing dugout skateboards back in Atlanta.
But he caddies at Augusta and one other course for the big dawgs.
Hes a homie, super happy for his family. He makes good money and just donates tonnes of it back into his scene.

Straight up. Even the most tech skater can't do the things Tiago can do, because no one can do what Tiago does. It's not just tech finesse, it's like jumping over buildings to landing and pushing through a brick wall.
-
By and large it's amazing skateboarding but I cannot sink my teeth into this video at all. I found myself jumping around constantly, not able to pay attention through the whole thing. Other than tiago(who doesn't like watching him), I found the whole thing bland.
I think maybe it has something to do with the fact that everyone on the team seems to skate like P Rod in my opinion. Objectively good skateboarding, but nothing stands out to me.
I know it'll probably sound shitty and haterish of me to say this shit but I found nothing really special about this video. It's bland IMO. Plus, the low angle cuts of everyone walking away/around the spots in slo mo is just played out the second time out of way too many to count in this video.
Skating 8.5/10
Video itself 4/10

If Primitive really did this video in one year, on top of everything else they put out that's quite impressive. They seem to do more than most brands out there and on top of that drop a 45 min video.
Giovanni had my favorite part, next to Tiago. This video was a big step up from their last one especially with the additions of Miles Tiago and Spencer.
Franky's part was rad as well, I hope Primitive never stops giving us these vids!
