Yeah no, Hassan Piker is a political commentator and a far left socialist. Nothing wrong with that, except for the fact that he seems to only do commentary and debates with people that bring him views and money, and bases a lot of his political thoughts on what can gain him a following. The pants observation by Joa is very accurate in characterizing Hassan, he claims anti-establishment and anti-capitalism but ONLY does shit that benefits him in views and money, him wearing 1000$ pants that look like a working man’s trousers is no surprise.

i like hasan but laughed about it. the things that bring him the most views are mostly the biggest topics. its pretty simple.

he gives back a lot to all kinds of people in need and I dont expect him to live in a card box just to represent and support the left.
he might not be a true socialist or corny but that doesnt mean we should not support the left and sympathize with the right.
he explains politics to young people and adults and does an okay job.

it feels petty to pocket watch him but its still funny. id rather criticize the right but he might not even have them on his radar.

i dont know if I understand you guys correctly but the crowdfunding is still controlled and directed by Hasan. if it wasn't for him they wouldn't crowdfund. its not that he just does crowdfunds and becomes rich from it.
collecting money from people that can spear a few dollars to make people that dont have enough get something is socialism. in our times and particularly america where the cliff between poor and rich is big its a good way to give the working class something back.
he also makes content that in my opinion is good for people and teaches them the values of left wing socialism. wether or not he owns a house and 1000 dollar pants is irrelevant if you're giving hundreds of thousands out to the right cause.

My point though is it's still not socialism. It's either charity, which is decidedly a feature of capitalism, or service economy type work. Charity often goes to the most "charismatic" people in need and is not distributed efficiently or evenly. And the service economy is a result of capitalists gutting Western industry for better profit margins. It's pure vassalage.
