Sponsor hopping 'til eternity...
This was posted today by the owner, and I think Markovich isn't really living a 'sober lifestyle'.

Who to what?

Will work for sure this time.

Markovich is the worst best skater.

it's been 30 yrs, why not do it again?

Thought after he was given, he was taken?
-
Is he on Herion the drug? Serious question. He seems super fucked up. Maybe from years of getting cheated on by his flow riders did it to him. I used to watch his Color part religiously. Now he seems fucked up. Sad days
-
two things after rewatching that part. front board shuvs are under utilized, which is probably why I like them. and that part got me way more hyped than any current vid has in a long time.

Underrated comment
-
Does Markovich still look like one of the long lost Hardy Boyz?
-
whenever I see a Markovich thread I immediately revisit his Color part and reminisce about when the world was a much simpler place

He’d definitely benefit from an Epicly Laterd
-
i'm still down for his 101 part
-
Every time a Markovich thread comes up, he gets tons of hate. I get some of the comments but lest we forget the guy has put out the most video parts of any pro, ever (30+ parts, easily). I’m sure new age kids will top that number, but won’t top the impact he had.
-
I remember my dad coming back from LA in 2005 after a work trip and met up with an old friend who happened to be Kris's doctor and he met kris on his trip, he showed me his part in what if and color and he was my favourite for a couple years, id just starting skating a year before, then I learnt about his history jumping from company to company, he should be of skateboarding by now

yeah, he has contributed a lot more to skating than what most of us on here give him credit for.
I wish him and J-Wray were able to just collect cheques from element well into their retirement years because they are definitely royalty.
he should be of skateboarding by now
nah, if you grew with him you'd know he can/ could milk it with the best of them
-
Yeah he also on Element Legends, H-street, his own company, I'm under the impression that he's gonna say yes to whoever calls him and offers $20.
-
Markovich is clearly batshit but man ole man, did I love him back in the day. This was the only dude that got me inspired to skate somewhat 'gnarly' way back when.
After Prime and the tattoos, he lost me.

I go revisit his G&S Stun and A1 meats parts. Blockhead too. That's my markovian Markovich

I'm definitely not a hater.
Markovich was one of the first pro skaters that came to our skatepark in Belgium and he KILLED it.
Actually literally slaughtered it to be honest.
It was skatepark full with those awful plastic/metal obstacles where the transition is way to steep, ledges are way too high, rails too long and steep etc... everyone knows what I mean.
Kids would only use certain obstacles, because the rest was unskateable, but he hit every obstacle and frontside flipped over a hip that BMX'ers wouldn't even touch.
I think it's just said that such a talent faded out this way, he keeps trying and trying to pushes out brands to stay relevant that it's almost pathetic.
In some alternate universe this dude is getting big checks and has 'legend' status.
But these days he really does look like he's on hard drugs :(
-
Skated faster than anyone else in his generation doing tech and big shit. An all time great.
Would like to see some recent footage and a chrome ball interview

Rad, he's starting to tattoo his face. I hope he tattoos his eyes to look like one of his paintings.
Markovich was fuckin' on it, seriously under rated and constantly overlooked.
Chops interviewed him like four years ago, mang:

-
His Art Bars part was on heavy repeat for me when I got that video as a kid, also Jon West ;)
That being said Kris Markovich on a company called Toxic is ironically fitting.
By the way I'm still pissed that he prevented Jeremy from trying to kickflip Wallenberg for obvious selfish reasons back in the day.
-
not only did he shred and put out a number of exciting video parts, he knocked out danny way twice.
markovich was a bad ass from pensacola. it was cheap for him to not take j.wray to wallenberg but other than that [and i guess sponsor jumping but it doesn't effect me] but dude kinda ruled for a long time.
he used good songs over the yrs too, EPMD, that 'riding the metro' song, 'mean motherfuckin man' and i forget what else but his parts were always enjoyable.

always loved the filming and execution on that front shuv in the philly tunnels

Ah yes, thank yous v much.
Does anyone remember the Phat magazine interview where KM spilled the beans on beating the shit out of Dway? (Phat mag was a UK mag around 92/93)

I never saw that element part somehow. So much good stuff.
I was looking this photo:

And found this. Didn't Markovich used to post on here a million years ago? 88 shoes era.

this is so long ago, i'm spotty at best but i think in the back of thrasher in 'trash' they said they both were after the same girl and danny way drove to markovich's house, markovich answered the door and knocked him out.
'yo pat duffy, you forgot your wigger!'
and pat duffy had to carry danny away like 150lbs of sod.
then i think he got drunk and instigated again [forget the chronology] and markovich socked him up again.

That ender is a thing of beauty too. That's how handrail skating should look. That gigantic hardflip over the hip was used in a 411VM around that time period too and blew my mind as a kid.
Always been a fan of Markovich's skating. I still have a brand new Crimson board in shrink wrap as part of my collection, that I won at some local contest back in 2007 or so. I remember some kid wanted me to trade it for his DGK deck with a shitty graphic he had just won too and I blew him off.
-
I may have never dug his companies, but to me he was one of the only guys that could refuse to skate switch, and still put out quality parts.
Also, consistently skated fast!
-
loved this 411vm tour section for giant (distribution?), has what has to be one of the most combustible combinations of people ever: billy pepper, bobby puleo, markovich, among others.
also introduced me to the only slint song i like.

I remember his tre flip on the Colors part.... Still amazing.
A shame all the sponsor hopping, him and Mike V should start a company.
On a random note... Anyone remember that Toxic promo that started with a Danzig song and Kyong Kim had last part?????

i skated for toxic wheels at the time and that video is still rad
That's rad... any chance you've seen it posted on YouTube?
Kyong Kim killed it and the first dude who's name I forgot.... ANd thanks ISMOB for the correction on the Prime vid.

They sorta kinda did, Kris rode for Elephant Brand. Pretty sure it was just him and Mike, while it lasted.
To quote Kris: "There were jokes about putting a stipulation in my contract entitling Mike to beat my ass if I quit. I’d literally have to fight Mike to leave".
Dunno what happened there, I think it folded before Kris could leave.
-
this can't be real
-
no offense because I was a huge fan but if your parents make you spell your name with a k instead of a c you are doomed
-
Did anyone else have that lil magazine about skating that came with Capri Suns in the 90s? The "catalog" part of the mag only showed Toxic boards.
-
He’s an extremely nice dude. People that hate on him have obviously never met him.
Also to all the people saying he’s on drugs. He sitting out front of cafe in Oceanside. Dudes on coffee. Maybe a hammerhead?

I want whatever coffee he's drinking. He is obviously on herion. I've seen enough people on it to know he might be on it. He is washed up now. Can't even

lol I met him and he was a dick
-
Definitely getting the opiate vibe from dem clips, as well.
My first deck was a Markovich Foundation board! It was a frog climbing the Eiffel tower, lol. People forget, but he is arguably the first person to ever do a bigflip. Or at least the first person photographed doing one.
Never 4get his super hot wife, who unfortunately some Hollywood flow rider fucked and proceeded to ruin everything. I am still not sure who this skateboarder was! You can see this smokin' hot ex wife in his Art Bars part... such a babe.
He's had a guest pro model on Wight Trash for like nearly a decade. They are a nice little company out of the Isle of Wight, their owner John Cattle is an absolute sweetheart.

You can’t deny his impact on skating, maybe weird now but still ripped in his day.
As far as his character, i grew up in carlsbad and he was nothing but cool to us kids. He would skate with us,
hook us up with boards and whatever he had. Super nice guy.
-
Pretty sure he ripped on that Tony hawks tour thing with Alex Chambers and Brian Sumner.
Anybodys got a link?
-
All these conflicting reports lead me to believe that it's possible that some pros might be cool sometimes and an asshole other times.....truly shocking....

How is that possible? If you're cool you should never be not cool. Markovich had his time. Its a sham him amd j wray don't have legacy shoes and boards like that fuck head Gino. Jeremy Wray has ton a million more things for skating than gino. Markovich should be rich from beating up Danny Way.
-
I wonder how many Taken boards he sold.

I feel like this entire thread repeats itself once a year. This is the point where I say that Justin Roy pulled a Ryan Fabre. Someone else will say, no, it was D.J. Chavez. At some point someone will list all his sponsors, make comparisons to Vallely, Element retirement, Color part, etc. Maybe the Calvin Klein model thing will be thrown in, though that fact may skip every other year. The consensus of whether Markovich is nice or not will never be settled, but the Justin Roy thing probably will. Someone will also bring up that this thread will repeat itself.

Kris Markovich is a kook
-
he should be up there with Duffy and Wray as the early street guys charging. even his element stuff was good
-
Hands down one of the pioneers that changed street skating forever. He definitely gets overlooked due to all the team hopping and burning the bridge when he would leave. That being said he's still in my all time top 10 fav skaters.
-
Just wanna say he was Spiderman in THPS2.
-
he should be up there with Duffy and Wray as the early street guys charging. even his element stuff was good
Well skill wise he's not approaching Wray in fairness. And his parts didn't quite have the impact that Duffys one part had.

I can see the difference between them (duh) BUT Markovich paved the way for dudes like Wray. Didn't Jeremy even say Kris was trying that big gap at the start of Jeremy's color part ... actually maybe that was Dill?
Pat Duffy's questionable part came out of nowhere and is undeniable, but Kris skated big and fast when a lot of other pros didn't and maintained that style of skating well into his foundation years. Say what you want about his sponsorship hopping, but everyone did that shit back in the day.

The industry was so small not many people thought if they made a company it would last 6 months let alone a couple of years. It was common practice back then to leave a new company. Markovich did some shit in his day I still like how he out shined Dyrdek for the cover of Transworld kickflip Carlsbad. Rob is a kook. Rest in Peace BB.
-
I remember watching Markovich's Art Bars part a million times on BlueTorch. I thought he was the coolest dude on the planet until I met him at ASR.
I fanned out like a complete kook, but he was fairly rude. I was bummed.
-
He’s got a knack for roping people into sponsoring him. He really hasn’t mattered since Foundation and he keeps getting hooked up. Props.
-
he skated for my local shop in Indiana when Crimson was a thing, strange times
-
For the haters who are doubting his influence on modern skating:

That’s still a hammer right there in 2020!

Kris was so gnarly back in the day. Color video part was great. At a time where everyone was late flipping in shitty parking lots Kris was hauling ass. I hope he’s good. His GTO was also sick.
