Title: Numbers Boards
Post by: shingles on August 08, 2018, 07:16:08 AM
Since the launch of Numbers, i've never actually seen one of their boards before. I'm living in europe and they're not present at all down here.
How is it in the states? Do you see alot of the boards in shops and in the streets?
I'm really worried about the future of this brand, since I kinda like the graphics, the videos and the team...

seen 'em at the local shop. nice quality, random graphics. decks are all limited edition so they come and go. its not like DLX decks that get permanent wall space. The only worry for the future of the brand is that Koston and Guy loose interest in working on something. They said themselves that they are so loaded from Nike money that they dont need checks from a board company. They started Numbers because they thought it sounded fun and needed boards to ride. Also they wanted to stick it Carrol and the Crail guys by leaving all their brands. Numbers will last as long as they still feel like doing it. They could probably go back to Girl anytime they want.

I've seen a lot more of the most recent graphics than I have of any of the other ones. I think the weird East LA graffiti drop sold like total dog shit as it should have.

Also where the FUCK is Antonio Durao's board?

It’s actually pretty ingenious.  There are numbers like EVERYWHERE.  It’s crazy, they are on signs, on newspapers, on computer keyboards, the label on my hanes boxer briefs, clocks, billboards, math books and probably even more things.

Do you realize how much free advertising that is??

How about you didn't notice them BECAUSE THEY LOOK LIKE EVERY OTHER BRAND (Quasi, FA, etc....) ??????

Their team and videos are sick, with their limited release and marketing they are letting things kinda grow organically and I think it’s working

They just released an adidas shoe with TX too

Have never seen another one in the wild, here in the northeast.

I'm guessing it prooooooobably had to do with money, which will ruin even the strongest of friendships.
Only seen one numbers board in the wild here ever and it was one of my friends who bought one just to try it out.

does mike carrolls skating has ever had an impact on anyone that isnt 30-40 years old by now? had a few good tricks but i dont see why i would try to support this unfriendly acting someone. People love to be corny and say "SUPPORT CORE BRANDS HES A 100 percent Skateboarder!" but i could give a fuck about a mike carroll having all my money. id rather buy one of koston cause his skating used to make me so hyped. i dont see how you could feel the same way about mike carroll in the last 20 years, so who gives a fuck about him.
never heard anyone say "did you see mike carrolls part in fully flared? duuude that was sick" ever in my life.
would try a numbers board, but i dont really like the art direction, seems like a quasi/ Palace rip off most of the time. dont see the FA comparison though.
the iPad swipe up graphic made me feel uncomfortable dont know why i hate it.
i see how you could hate on what im saying because Girl and rick and they all have had so much historic shit going on but if anything they could be happy that all these guys used to and still are riding for them.

even if the artists arent biting quasi, i think the boards do kind of look like boards from other companys. they dont have this quasi vaporwave thing going on but id say some look like quasi, some like palace and the other one Kind of like a slave board just because theyve had this art style from the beginning to end. whats missing, even though the boards look better than most companys boards is an art direction, a logo, something you have in your head when thinking of this company. to me ist pretty blend.

I've seen them in person and the 8.25 koston deck I considered had some crazy concave and steep ass shovel nose, I mean it might be fun to try but I would rather buy a Real deck at that price. Also one of the shops I frequent has had the boards up on the wall since they came out and maybe sold 1? Never seen anyone use one either or even talk about them at all.

i'm sure thats not true man, obviously true about not needing the money but about quitting it when they cant be arsed i doubt, they have made promises to their riders and people have left steady companies to skate for them so i doubt they would just do that.

Fuck!!!

I thought they were so original and absolutely not ripping the shit out of pop culture.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

Half of the current boards at the skateshops these days are from brands "art directed" by photoshop kids.

It's not an issue of Quasi being original or not, I don't care one way or the other and think they're great, but Numbers isn't ripping them off. You can only say "they're stealing Quasi's original ideas" and follow it up with "lol i dun care abut art i win"  if you are a drooling moron with a doodie in your jeans.

Mall Quasi
I was about to call it the shitty Quasi for kids.

They’re sponsoring Anthony Durao, so back them, just not their product. Even if the shit doesn’t sell in stores, it probably sells online. If it doesn’t, they all get Nike/Adidas money, so they won’t ever have their cards declined, trying to buy Top Ramen like Yonnie Cruz.

does mike carrolls skating has ever had an impact on anyone that isnt 30-40 years old by now? had a few good tricks but i dont see why i would try to support this unfriendly acting someone.

Yeah, does mike carrolls skating has ever had?
[close]

im sorry for misspelling i speak four different languages while u fat american ignorant fuck can barley speak one.
its simply true. mike carroll doesnt do shit. he doesnt bring out video parts. he doesnt do the art work, he doesnt design the shoes. what does he even do? hes a working old man at his board company that makes shitty boards.

lmaooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

i dont care about the 'art world', no ones does, have you ever heard of 6ix9ine lol?

reason why i hate skateboarders and them constantly patting their own backs for inventing basicaly anything from architecture "no one sees the world like we do" to painting to art to fashion. no one has ever thought about those things before skateboarders did. no one ever dressed like dylan rieder before he did it. no one ever painted a picture like the ones on quasi boards. actually the only art thats interesting is skate art. every high fashion brand wants to make skateboard clothes and the ones designing clothes for skatebrands arent inspired by high fashion brands at all.

most skateboarders are so dumb and live in a bubble.

You hate mike C, and hate skateboarders? You're one miserable fuck! Get out of here, and never return.

I've seen a lot more of the most recent graphics than I have of any of the other ones. I think the weird East LA graffiti drop sold like total dog shit as it should have.

Also where the FUCK is Antonio Durao's board?

It's underneath George's car right now, propping up some pick up truck.

How do you back a company without buying their products?

Also, the pros have money. They have pretty much the same money they had when they were on other board brands. The am's don't, regardless of who their sponsor is. Do you make more than $500/ week after taxes? Great, you get paid more than an am on one of these board brands with a Nike/Adidas sponsorship.

Add bonus points if your employer allows you to buy into a health insurance plan, which Nike doesn't offer their riders.

Good catch, I meant their boards. I bought one of the hats on impulse because I was watching Guy Mariano parts on a Saturday morning. That ugly-ass, denim hat flew off my head when bombing part of Union, Greenwich or Filbert St. In return for supporting Numbers, “the Skate Gods,” blessed me with not having to wear that ugly shit again.

Skate industry money is fucked up. Thats why I roll my eyes when industry dudes diss slap pals by trying to play the jealousy card.

Like yea you're better than me at skating but nigga I make 70k as a 29 year old and I still skate for fun. You have to be a businessman, a good artist, or a Hall of Fame skater to make it past 35 in the game. Everyone else is fucked with no health insurance and no translatable skills once theyre too old to jump down shit.

I've ridden one, it had good dimensions, didn't care who's 'bropro' board it was (Silvas); wouldn't skate anything with Kosten's name on it.

Been eyeing the 8.4 Mariano board for dims and it's fucking Guy, he should get some checks.

I always think about Pops for some reason. Imagine having been sponsored so young with absolutely no real work experience once skateboarding is done with you.

Correct me if Im wrong though.

Someone told me Pops drives trucks commercially now or something. Too bad he never got into business, he could have been the guy who brought Pappalardo Pizza Cove into the Max Fish of Long Island skateboard trash 😂
