Are moose burgers popular up north? Something tells me that's gotta be like the leanest burger meat of all time.
-
mayonnaise was a game changer for me

Lukewarm limburger over carmelized grubs and a dash of red wine vinegar

Maybe this belongs in "real confessions" but here we go: so I've had some pricy burgers with all kinds of things on them but I'm such a fucking sucker for Big Macs. I want to get dirty and fill my blood flow with total garbage. I want to feel sick after I'm done.
Sorry, kill me.

top bun-regular, cheap ass, burger bun. i hate buns that taste too much like brioche and will go with the plainer ones anytime
sauce-1/2part mayo, 1/4ketchup, 1/5 mustard, onion/garlic powder, hot sauce, any other seasoning you like
caramelized onions-hot pan, butter, fry 1 cup onion cut in halfrings, salt heavily immediately, sizzle for a minute, reduce heat to medium high, 1 tablespoon honey or sugar, sizzle for two minutes, put heat to high again, add 2-3 tablespoons vinegar, reduce heat to medium, add half a teaspoon of worcestersauce, cook a few minutes more until they are are nicely colored and sticky
2-3 bacon strips
regular beef patty of about 3-4 ounces, seasoned with a lot of salt and some pepper, seared very hard, flipped once and cooked to medium, topped with plastic cheese. i mean that process cheese really sucks on its own but on burgers it's the best i think
this is the optional slot, i usually go without tomato, but if i do, i put it here, pickles or jalapenos would go here as well
some lettuce if i feel like i want sauce on the bottom bun
sauce(still optional)
bottom bun. done.
plz, try my recipe for the onions, it's pretty tasty.
ikobrakai if you add some relish to my sauce recipe it comes pretty close to the classic big mac sauce. after all that is a standard recipe for a burger sauce, so i can't even claim ownership.
lately i've been frequenting mcdonalds just because they have sprite cherry slushies. i also feel like an asshole because of that.

I go for anything from In-N-Out to one of them fancy shmancy grass fed free range meat/bleu cheese/brioche bun/some kind of aioli etc. Give me all of it.

Does anyone fuck with tomatos on a burger?
They taste great but they always make the burger too slippery

if you eat a burger with no cheese you're a dry-guy for sure

Up north in canada yes, moose meat is popular. To me its delicious, to others not used to it they all tend to say "it's too gamey". Well, it was a fuckin wild animal.
Anyhow, with moose meat, just add in a lil bacon fat. Then season how you like but I use sea salt, pepper, garlic salt and abit of onion powder.
For buns I'm leaning on ciabatta bread
Add some bacon and a nice slice or 3 of havarti cheese with sauteed mushroom and onions
It's a big hit when I cook these when I'm guiding hunting or fishing trips
Now....if you change the bun to fresh frybread....best burger ever

Dry handjobs can be a good variant

This burger needs some heat. A little bad of the sauce. No, not Siracha.

not the big mac for me but just a plain old double cheeseburger from any of the major fast food joints does it for me sometimes. once fancy burger places became a thing and over saturated i lost the taste and patience for them.

Does anyone else fuck with peanut butter on burgers? I know it sounds messed up but its pretty damn tasty.
-
i dont do peanut butter but see it offered all the time. i do like a good runny fried egg sometimes. problem is most of the time its not runny or i really dont feel like making a mess.

Peanut butter adds a super rich taste too it (as long as its not jif or super sugared out peanut butter) and it acts like a glue to hold things like carmelized onions, bacon, etc in place so it doesn’t just spill out.
-
wait you guys go to restaurants where they offer peanut butter on burgers? where do you live? i've never even heard of anything like this.
-
ive seen it a bunch of times but i couldnt tell you where since ive never been interested in eating one.
shake shack has one. most places that do usually market it as an "elvis burger"

The wife has to have big mac like twice a year. I get a double bacon cheese burger across the street from dairy queen
Nothing fancy but it's been my go too for about 25 years
I eat anything from McDonalds and I'm shutting my pants before I've even finished the burger

i mean that process cheese really sucks on its own but on burgers it's the best i think
agree 100% on this. that cheese is made for burgers.
you were right about the bun thing too. too fancy of a bun and the bun starts taking over. it basically just needs to hold everything together and keep your hands relatively clean.
my favorite is just a classic american cheeseburger. from the bottom i go cheap bun, toasted > mayo > lettuce > tomato, onion (both sliced thin), pickles, burger (cooked medium) > processed cheese > bacon > ketchup and mustard > top bun.
once in a while ill get fancy and put avocado or a fried egg or sautéed onions, but i think the perfect burger is just simple and basic.
-
yeah man, that's basically like a whopper with cheese and bacon, i would do that combo sometime as well, really nice.
one other thing is that i hate if there's too much stacked on the burger. for example when i use jalapenos i usually leave out the pickles, no tomato means if i really want to go fancy there's still room for slices of fried eggplant or something. but never too much stacked on top.

I agree
Too many people just make this huge ass fuckin burger that you should enjoy in theory, but it sucks because it's just waaaay too much stacked on

Siracha is good too. But better with minimal ingredients so it doent over power everything else
