i liked goodfellas too....gary oldman in state of grace was pretty good...not really a mafia movie...
-
the departed, goodfellas, casino, the untouchables, infernal investigation trilogy, hard boiled, ichi the killer, ghostdog, and the professional.
-
Goodfellas, Casino and Donnie Brasko.
-
sexy beast. if you consider that a mafia movie. same with professional
I liked Donnie Brasko though, felt a little more realistic

Once A Time In America.
-
oh and Mean Streets.
-
cidade de deus

The Godfather, The Departed.
You do realize The Departed is just a remake of Infernal Affairs right? I hadn't watched it until last night, but Scorsese won an oscar for a remake. Damn fine one, but hey the original was such a fucking awesome movie to begin with, they knew it was a winner from the start.
-
Godfather 2...hands down.
-
hard boiled

Yes, I do realize that. I have not seen Internal Affairs though. I have read that it is good. It is the first in a trilogy of films right?

It might be best if you don't. Alot of scenes are very similar. It was kind of disappointing, really to know how much of it made it into the remake virtually unchanged. Just watch Full Time Killer instead. I think your time will be better spent watching that.

Godfather 2...hands down.
Its sad that it took almost an entire page for the obvious answer to this to be posted. Godfather 2 is head and shoulders above anything else.
How about "My Blue Heaven"
-
cant look past goodfellas.
-
Wise girls
-
oh and Mean Streets.
mean streets sucks

i hate mob movies. they're always like 4 hour long and boring as shit. just because there is opera music playing and slo-mo doesn't make a scene with a bunch of dumb guidos shooting each any deeper. maybe it's because i grew up around these douches.
my vote goes to johnny dangerously.
-
Donnie Brasco is such a good movie. So is Casino. Who doesn't love a bunch of tough talking greaseballs just beating the shit out of people and shit?
Edit: I wrote this before reading CUDDLEMONSTERS post, so I guess he doesn't love it.

I never took mob movies as being particularly "deep." I just like seeing greedy psychopaths kill eachother over pointless shit, and to pretty much get away with it until they get whacked. LIke goodfellas, that shit is a true story. They paint the main character to be some great guy, but you know he's a scumbag, but he's an interesting scumbag.
I group up around some guys like that too, and they definitely make you think twice about the characters in these movies, but I don't know, I guess it is what it is. I can see why you don't like it, but maybe you cvan see why I do?

Bugsy Malone
Jodie Foster, Scott Baio, and cream shooting tommy guns. Fuck yeah.

oh for sure, it's just annoying when you see murals of tony montana at a table with don corleone or something. the godfather is actually based on my great uncle carlo gambino (i think.) so there was always sketchy shit go on around my grandparents house when my mom was growing up. just hearing her stories kind of takes the fun and escapism out of it.

I think that everyone that grew up in Chicago is related to someone or knows someone who is a part of the mafia. A girl I'm friends with is cousins or something of the Spallatro (spelling?) family. For those of you who don't know that's who Joe Pesci's character in casino is based on.

obviously not everyone but if you're full blooded sicilian i'd say there's a pretty good chance. it's actually pretty funny. my mom never realized that her family was doing sketchy shit, i mean she had her suspicions but just never thought it went up that high. then one day i'm watching history channel probably 7 or 8 year ago and it's this documentary on the mob. they show carlo as soon as my mom walks in and goes "uncle charlie?" like she had no idea. since then my grandparents told have told us all the real shit that was going and actually gave us a custom hood ornament that once belonged to al capone and was willed to my grandma mary. it's sitting in our attic right now.

cool!!!!
-
yo any of you seen the movie mean girls? those three girls are so HOT!!!!!!!
