Obviously there are “no rules”...
But we can all agree you shouldn’t scrape on a manual...
What about a 5050 up against a wall? Should it count it you put hands on the wall? What about bank to fence tricks or bank to ledge tricks? Should it count if you are bracing yourself up against the wall?
When I was a kid if you had a toe drag it was a re-do, now I occasionally see it brushed off as style...
What about hands on the ground during a land?
No matter how insane the trick into it is, I also can’t help but think end of the ledge bonks shouldn’t be considered “grinds”
Thoughts? Opinions? Other offenses?

It only counts if it’s filmed for the gram, man
-
It don’t count unless you hug and then fuck all your homies in glee, ensuring that the whole ordeal makes the final edit.
-
shouldn't count if you go over the top for fs/bs noseblunts
-
if Fred Gall is performing the said tricks, they obviously counts!
-
Moving your foot on a trick out of 5050 makes it not count.
That’s a noob thing mostly but I see it so often on Instagram.
-
No more of these limp hugs like you hug your aunt you only see once every two years but don’t really know.
You either hug the fuck out of your homie or no hugs at all. Preferably the latter.
-
Just one word. Fun.

That and I’m also tired of the vertical “high 5!”
Looks like this to me every time
“Good job!” - 🤓🙏🤓 - “thank you sir”

you can do whatever the fuck you want but your peers will (logically) judge you on how it cheap it might look (and you don't have to give a shit, but might as well try to do your shit proper for your own satisfaction)
-
If you're gonna do a trick over an obstacle you can't shifty it or it doesn't count
-
These days, if my board lands within 10 feet of me I count it as a make.

It all depends on what it looks like. There are many different keys to rocking, but you got to have style.
The king of what? The King of Style.
Super duty tuff work.

Yeah like in that video.
It’s just my dumb personal preference.

These days, if my board lands within 10 feet of me I count it as a make.
when I was 12 and could only land heelflips on one foot still (the classic beginner's mistake), I remember at one point I got so frustrated I just stopped giving a shit and decided landing just one foot on heelflips then pushing was a trick for a day or two. I'd do that in the middle of my lines like it was nothing and eventually it clicked really fast what I was doing wrong in the first place, and how to really do the trick.

Well there are no secrets among sailors, pal! Out with it!

It all counts, if you try to take away an aspect of skateboarding it will explode

Seems like the criteria for a “make” is slowly becoming a bit stricter beginning with the trend of B-sides being posted (especially Reynolds’ Stay Gold part) and with Weck making kids more conscious about their manuals. That and each generation is getting better at skating.
For example, look at Trayvon Mclong’s switch bigflip Carlsbad attempt in that one part that nobody remembers. Embarrassing that it even got put in there then, but even more so now

If you go back and watch Love Child or its contemporaries, it’s amazing how much shit made it in what would never get included today.
Not hating on Love Child obviously. It’s just a great example of how much skate videos have changed.

If you are skating over a fire hydrant / trashcan, parking cone... etc etc...
The wheels (or the wheelbase ) must clear the highest point of whatever it is.
None of this to the side shit , none of this nose or tail cleared at an angle shit...

I always felt that way about the Jamie Thomas nosegrind gapout in Ride the Sky- yes that is and would’ve been an insane trick on an insane ledge, but it was more of a fall than a make I would say, I never understand why that was put in there...
