Title: Slowest tune used in a video part?
Post by: woodinbrine on February 18, 2019, 01:21:51 AM
I’m afraid I don’t have any good examples on hand to start off the thread as I don’t have the crazy memory a lot of you folks seem to have, but I know I’ve seen parts set to fairly slow doom metal and stuff like that. What’s the lowest BPM part you can think of? I’m thinking proper parts, not mood pieces or whatever you’d call those slo-mo montages with ambient music.

Not a full part my bad but the team montage in bag of suck worked really well with A Sunday Kind of Love.

These are nice and chill. It's been a long time since I lost interest in football, but I used to be a Liverpool fan and will never stop getting a bit of goosebumps whenever I hear You'll Never Walk Alone.

I just remembered that at the 9 minute mark in that Stay Awaysted vid they have The Pink Room from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, that's pretty low tempo and cool as fuck.

edit: Have to put in an extra fuck yes for Knights in White Satin

Julian Davidson had a part years ago skating to Roky Eriksen  (sp) "Unforced Peace" or something like that. Was fairly slow

Also wouldn't any part without music have the slowest bpm of 0? So I guess Reynolds in bake and destroy

Love that part but the timing of that song choice was potentially damaging. Death In June are a massive Antifa target. Meanwhile the other JJ was getting kicked off Cons for his alleged Nazi past just as this was released... hmmm.... That song choice could have done a lot more harm for Cons and Jake Johnson than it did....

So I went through everything posted in this thread and tapped out the tempo of each song used, and here's the bottom 5 BPMs of the thread:
#1: Sage Elsessers Blessed part, When There Is No Sun by Sun Ra - 51 BPM
#2: Ryan Sublette in Worship Friendship, And Heaven Turned To Her Weeping by Jon Maus -  60 BPM
#3: That bit in Stay Awaysted set to The Pink Room by Angelo Badalamenti - 70 BPM (if we're gonna be strict about it that's not a separate part though, but we've got a shared fifth place anyway so it's still a bottom five if you want to scratch this one)
#4: Tom Penny & Arto Saari in Sorry, Venus in Furs by The Velvet Underground - 73 BPM
#5: Heath Kirchart in Sight Unseen, Knights in White Satin by The Moody Blues - 80 BPM
#5: Montage in Bag of Suck, Sunday Kind of Love by Etta James - also 80 BPM

I mean, some could be higher BPM and just in half time or something, I'm not that good at knowing what's what I just tapped to the song using a BPM counter.
