Is it bc they are cheapskates and dicks to their older riders or because they run their company like a cut throat business?
-
Well, I guess I don’t like element.
I’ve said before that I’d buy a mason or Evan deck if they rode for someone else.
But what is it exactly?
Maybe all the years of bam?
Maybe they seem too clean cut?
Maybe it’s like a “white kid ” brand in my eyes.
I guess these are the things that make me not want to buy it.
They have clothes sold in mall department stores I’m pretty sure too.
-
Yeah I've heard lol say the jc Penney shit is lame.my brother is good friends with Jake rupps x wife and she said element treats their pros like shit and dumps them when they get old.
Even when they say "element for life" as if they take care of their aging pros. They don't at all.
-
You ever hear Johnny Shillerreff talk? Wack.
You ever seen Element graphics? Wack.
Would you really want to be seen with an Element deck? Wack.
The fact that they cut a check for Ray Barbee? Pretty fuckin rad.
That ratio ain't good though

The thing about letting go of older skaters.
That doesn’t seem like a negative thing to me.
-
Jeremy Wray never forget. Element (=Schiellereff) basically suffocated the latter part of his career and gave him nothing in exchange. Fuck them.

Exactly this. I had a “Fiberlight” I snapped in three days in 2003 when I was 13 and weighed just over 100lbs. The blandest in the business. Would buy a Westgate AH board today.

Honestly, what's to like? Their riders are the only thing they have going for them and by most accounts they don't get treated too well. They can't become an outdoor sporting goods company fast enough.
I was also coming around to them around when Peace was coming out but after their recent rider exodus and the Cookie part fuck up I think I'm good with them putting their logo on sleeping bags and solar powered clock radios.

It was just never a 'cool' brand. Way too positive and clean. Enjoi was positive and clean on the surface, but it was done so more ironically. In reality they were making jokes, partying, and being stupid so it was 'cool'. Element just never really had a personality as a brand from what I remember. No flavor, no antics, just following the rules. Then the whole Bam margera thing happened in the mid 2000s and they clung on to that image for dear life basically delegitimized the brand among 'actual' skaters. I did like some of their graphics around 1999-2000 though

After they dropped the Underground, they went up river.
-
once upon a time it was underworld element and they made their name with classics like skypager and riders like pep martinez. Now it is owned and run by the guy in this video:

They used to just sell Tech decks in the toy aisle at your local department store and then signed bam and crossed over to making real skateboards
-
I never liked Element, never got what they were going for, everything about the company seems devoid of soul and the graphics i've seen looks like generic garbage. They have had some good riders over the years, but none of them seemed to be stoked riding for them.
For a long time Element represented what i thought was wrong with skateboarding. Up until maybe a year ago i thought the company had its roots in something lame like maybe Kite boarding and hopped on the skateboarding bandwagon, it never felt like a skate brand. Also Bam Margera.

Never forget. Julien rode for them at one point.

So you mean to tell me the Bam Margera heartagram graphic isn't fire and that I've been misled my whole life?
-
The only thing I fuck with element is Ray Barbee, other than that? None. Also do they still do runs of his rag doll graphic?
-
Lol element

Element is poo! Eat pant elemebt

This is my reasoning . Had a featherlight in maybe 04 and that thing chipped up and just flaked apart when I was a little kid just learning flip tricks and Ollies down small gaps and stuff . No board should fall apart in 3 weeks from rolling around skatelite parks and trying kickflips in your garage.

The logo and graphics are horrible.
The team is very controversial : I love Madars and Nick Garcia but I hate Nyjah and Schaar.
-
Nyjah. Nyjah Houston is the reason people hate Element.
-
Probably because Element is like the Nike of boards, they just get a bunch of unique pros and do some corny wholesome stuff as their brand image. Also they kicked out Klaus Bohms and Murilo Romão from the brazilian team for no reason after they've been in it for a really long time. I'd still buy their boards though, I like the shape and length of them.
-
I don't think "MOST" skaters "HATE" Element
I think a lot of skaters don't care about element.

I bought their Ray Barbee deck back in 2012...that shit snapped in a week, havent bought one since
Element Jeans were pretty decent I had 2 pair that lasted 4-5 years of skating

Their jeans are pretty nice. I’ve got two pairs that I bought from a sample sale years ago and they’re still holding together.

I think Nyjah on element is a smart move, he was always good for his rasta brand in the begining
I used to watch this part almost everyday

Element needs to exist. They sponsor all the milquetoast skaters that are too good to not be sponsored, and keep them off of teams you actually care about.

add Barley.
