Wow I don't like it at all
-
Yutos nollie 270 slideslide was sick. Ish had a couple tricks I liked.
Didn’t really care for it overall tho. Just finished watching it and I’m not having the i need to go skate right now feelings.
Shane had what like 6 tricks? I like his light colored jeans.
-
quite vanilla
thinking yuto deserves better than this
-
pretty straightforward promo. great skating, no b-roll or filler. I agree though, very vanilla but family friendly.
definitely a new standard in HD 4:3. although i'm such a snob, the FS7 colors can look a little iPhone-y at times. nothing beats the warm feel of HVX/HPX.
-
they went full person on some of those tricks, and i like it.
-
No Tommy Fynn??
-
Why was that one fakie 5-0 in slow motion?
I don't know, I was expecting more. There were a few tricks I liked, Shane's bigspin front nose on the rail and Kai's nollie shove nosegrind 180.
-
Well I'll give it up to them that they managed to make a video that exemplifies the brand perfectly. Boring, bland, and forgettable.
-

This.
-
rough music selection, they should just let James James handle the videos.
-

It was shalom but I’m not trying to guess what skater did what trick.
-
Real ‘I’m making a company for money n nothing to do with a love of skateboarding’ vibe
-
Shane and Yuto do the most fucked up shit but I couldn't care less
I like their effort though
Nollie inward heel on the bank to bank spot looked super fun
-
This promo was better than about 85%-90% of Blessed
-
Wow. Amazing how much work and planning can go into something so forgettable.
-
yooo it was super sick.!

Shane's ender was pretty amazing, but I no longer have the mental capacity to care about another new board brand.
-
This promo was better than about 85%-90% of Blessed
I def agree with that.
-
Yuto is really good. I kind of wish he existed in a different era though, because I can't really give a shit right now.
-
Yuto's 360 line :D
-
Thrasher:
Mentions a "heavyweight soundtrack"...
...proceeds to play George Michael and Eve.
-
How are you gonna come at me with something visually boring when the audio is careless whisper?
-
Pure dogshit all around. Whoever is creative director is terrible, songs/ graphics puke. Ive generally like Shane's song choices, only redeeming quality in my eyes, but i now know they were the filmer/editor not him.
-
guilty feet have got no rhythm
-
4:3 fisheye definitely helped out. If this was filmed with a red or even a dslr, it would've been way more bland. Obviously the skating was amazing. I also liked how they had skaters I never even heard of. Better than building another SLS team
-
Yeah not feeling it one bit.
-
Thrasher:

"Heavyweight" = "Expensive"
Using "Careless Whisper" is about a quarter step up from using "Never Gonna Give You Up." Whatever genuine jamhood masked by fun irony it had was destroyed by the internet well over a decade ago. Those two songs in succession play like the first playlist your older brother found on Napster in 2000.
Good skating and solid filming but this company is actually shaping up to be even more boring than I expected.
-
No Tommy Fynn??
someone mentioned in another thread he's getting on plan b
-
I didnt thought it was thaaaaat bad. I love careless whispers as cheesy as it is so that might help. Some fucked up techy shit went down for sure...
I think overall the graphics are a bit shit, but I kinda like shane's board.
-
HOT TRASH
-
someone mentioned in another thread he's getting on plan b
Hectic skateboards
-
Are most of these guys up n comers from AUS? The one that bs 360 kickflipped the bank to bank gap is really good, as is the newer Asian kid.
I wish the editing was less rapid-fire so I could remember their names.
Careless Whispers is just not a good song, even in irony.
Was really expecting something more exciting & impactful, though I’ll wait for another vid to fully judge.
-
Everyone should have been riding April boards in the video and not blanks. really bad idea for a whole board brand launch.
-
I liked the music selection, 4:3 HD, Shane and Yuto and the simple editing. The nollie inward heelflip fs noseslide nollie shove it out was super nice too. Was expecting a little bit more from Shane now that I think about it. But good start if you compare it to all the other new brands.

The one that did the bank to bank 360 kf was Ronnie Kessner, he’s from the U.s

To echo what someone said already, Yuto deserves better.
-
There was absolutely NO art direction / vibe / feel whatsoever during that edit. Great Skating, but for a "brand" launch. I would have expected to get a feel for the brand.
that logo is beyond horrific.
-
I just watched the 1st dude. He was sick but the next guy seemed meh. Ist dudes a legend tho.
-
I certainly hope they go out of business before they have time to put out another video.
I just watched the 1st dude. He was sick but the next guy seemed meh. Ist dudes a legend tho.
He (currently) satisfies zero of the requirements to be a legend.
-
yuto street shit was cool just cuz i have never seen him not at street league. graphics suck. in a business scenes he will take over Asia and Australia. smart to launch over seas where competition is limited and the population is dense. primitive of the east
-

For you sure but im giving that guy props for beauty and perfection. Edit i get what u mean actually now. Ive been in europe for a year and 'legend' is slang there. Its different.
-
Not as bad as people made it out to be.
The Good:
-Yuto, Shane & Ronnie Kessner all had some really crazy skating in here.
-thought it was cool that it mixed in a bunch of unheard of dudes
The Bad:
-Agree the editing and music choices were bland.
-Their graphics leave a lot to be desired
-Their website looks like it was an afterthought or made by someone into an intro to website building at a community college
-
Terrible name for a board brand. Liked the edit skatewise.
Can't stand the way they introduce a name and then mix it up with clips from other dudes. I wanna know who's skating, not be busy trying to figure out which dude did which trick.
-
Yuto's street fits are proper.
-
This is a huge launch, but no thought went into the website at all. The boards have no description and there's not even an "About" or "Contact" page. :-\

-
He picked a great month to unveil April skateboards.
-
R.I.P Primitive
-

I thought the same. No team page, no apparel either. I guess what probably took them so long was the riders to get footage?
that kai kid is dope
-
Such random team. Guys in sweatpants pushing fat mongo with some 917/FA rejects. I wish this would felt better.
-
felt more like a homie montage than a board company introduction which i think is way better. i liked it. maybe i’m bias because ronnie is the sickest. yuto with the meatball sub nose slide on a hubba was funny. nathan jackson rules too.
-
Yuto is the most robotic skater I ever seem.
-
Noah Nayef line was sick, Johnny Tang sighting was nice. This company strikes me as kind of a Birdhouse version of Primitive, lacking a certain type of flavour but at the same time there's a genuine love of skating and it doesn't seem overly ego-driven.
-
If numbers is still in business, this will continue to exist. If they were trying to be something else, chances are it would be an unsuccessful launch. I already liked this promo better than most of the numbers webisodes.
-
R.I.P Primitive
ha no way, i doubt this brand will make that much of a dent in Primitive sales
-
I love Shane's skating but I find it hilarious that a man with a horizontal line for a smile is now the founder and creative taste maker for a skateboard brand.
-
R.I.P Primitive
Yeah i'm really sure they are worried about yosef ratlef taking away from Tiago board sales.
Filming was good but that was about the only thing that was good about this video. Shane had over a year and this is the best he could come up with?
-
Super psyched to see Nathan Jackson's name.
Nollie Shuv Nosegrind 180 was pretty incredible.
Is licensing a George Michael song really worth it though...
-
Oh my ... that website is something else. The art direction so boring and bad it's so funny. It makes me think about marc johnson thing, is it still alive ? I don't even know if it has started yet tho.
-
R.I.P Primitive
Primitive is running the board game now. Every company ripped off silver and golden board from Primitive.
-
After the wait, I was expecting much more. Especially from Shane and Tito who could seemingly film a video part in a month or two
That was incredibly boring and the tricks were gnarly. I'm not sure how that happens?
-
I certainly hope they go out of business before they have time to put out another video.

For something that was so hyped up, that shit was completely forgettable to me. Just my opinion and also my dogs who yawned multiple times through us watching it. Hope it works out for them. Dudes all have shoe money anyway.

I liked it... but then it had a friend in it so there is some bias
I agree that the graphics need work though (the April logo board is alright but the other stuff is pretty forgettable)
I still think they need to do an April (TMNT) on April (porn star) scissoring graphic & get Mckee to draw it.
if all my years of no experience in designing things has taught me is that a graphic with two ladies scissoring each other is sure to be a winner (that or the occasional glance at what some JP salaryman look at whilst commuting has warped my feeble mind)
-
Ronnie Kessner is unfuckwithable, i really like his skating
-
Skating was crazy tech. Good few tricks I've never seen before down sizable spots.
I think the music chosen was meant to be accessible and relatable because the skating is the complete opposite.
-

I agree 100% but didnt someone say that Shane's daughter's name is April?
-
Company doesn’t seem as tech/flip in flip out heavy as i expected. I was surprised by all the wallies. The whole thing is very bland and vanilla, no cohesive art direction or branding. I’d never heard of him but Ronnie Kessner’s clips were actually pretty sick, that was a nice surprise.
-
That Kai dude is rad. Can't believe people still belittle themselves by skating Shake Junt grip in 2019. Eve track was okay.
-
the music and the skating did not go together at all. it was like skate footage was playing and a radio tuned to the pop station was on. sick skating but jocks have no taste. never have. never will.
-
I certainly hope they go out of business before they have time to put out another video.
Jesus.
That website is next-level bad though. It looks like something a middle school kid would create for a computers class or something.
-
dat nollie bs flip tho
-
Nathan Jackson rips
-
Not sure why anyone expected a company owned by Shane O'Neill to have an exciting edit with anything besides skating.
This is another case like Thank You Skateboards. I love Daewon, but I hate his taste, and have no interest in buying anything he comes up with
-
I hate body varials as much as the next guy but Jake Darwin's nollie 180 switch crook body varial at J Kwon actually looked rad.
-
ok, i didnt like it that bad as most of you guys (speacking about the promo vid). yutos 360 line and kessners bs 360 kickflip stood out
-
the skate was good.
-
i get the hate but it’s pretty cool shane would make a company and put a bunch of his friends on that a vast majority have never heard of. respect.
-
I liked the video, I like the music. I love that I haven't heard of most of that squad. I forget that I actually like Shane Oneil as a street skater.
Branding wise, these are just leftover primitive graphics. Huge disappointment.
-
Nathan Jackson rips
Good to see him out of the baker/junt/pissdrunx hole
Always liked his tall lanky style and his footage in this doesn’t disappoint
-
That Eve/Alicia song gave me nostalgia.
-
Not only are the board graphics pure garbage, they will probably go the Primitive route and overcharge for every single item that they put out.
-
There was some cool not overly tech ledge tricks that were cool. Nollie shuv nosegrind 180 takes top prize in that category
-
The only good thing about this besides some sick tech, if not forgettable clips is that a company finally turned Yuto pro.
Most only ever see him via SLS, seeing him skate in person you'd wonder what took so long.
-
is it weird to like ronnie kessner for no other reason than he kinda looks like DGar?
edit: props to whomstever rocked that heelflip front tail shuv

Same thing I thought lol
-

Same thoughts.
Video was very similar to the style of Primitive's videos - then noticed in the credits "Video by Kevin Perez" and it all made sense.
-

Critics are raving over professional skateboarder Shane O'Neil's brand new skateboard company, April:
"I like his light colored jeans." - johnes
-
Those were songs I would have put in an edit as a middle schooler trying to be ironic.
-

Good tunes
-
Tbh kinda like that A with the girl’s profile in it.
-
First song was corny, unexpected throwback for the second. Are all those people fully on? Seemed like a lot for a company that just started. Ish was the best part fr
-
Great skateboarding (obviously) and I'm happy the roster consists of people I'm not familiar with and seem to bring something interesting to the table.
Hopefully it'll become something solid like I think Primitive has.
-
I actually liked it.
Some amazing skating in there.
-
I feel like Jerry and Malto had a baby and named him Yuto.

Well I'll give it up to them that they managed to make a video that exemplifies the brand perfectly. Boring, bland, and forgettable.
this is exactly how I feel about this video (& this brand at large too). just another bland mediocre generica board brand that doesn't seem too artistically inspired, if inspired at all. just what skateboarding needs
-
someone remix that first half to another throwback jam like the 2nd half, cheesiness of that song just dilutes the skating IMO.
I actually like Ish clips, that first frontside flip out over the pole was good af.
-
Yuto is the most robotic skater I ever seem.
this.........

For some reason the company reminds me of those horrible brands in the 2000's like the Menace rip off Media skateboards or Bike skateboards. What was that dudes name Tom K-something?
Anyway, April is pretty shitty
