I feel like I see a bit of an influence from Iverson’s Reebok pro models on some skate shoes in the early 2000’s.

Yeah Nike has been putting forefoot straps on trainers and Basketball shoes since the 80's. That creative recreation is a AJ1 takedown with a forefoot strap and the eS is a dunk/halfcab with a forefoot strap.
Definitely correct with the Air Trainer to Lakai influence.

"whoever said the Stevie and air max 97..

Sit down. No one's getting their shit mixed up. Stevie's homage was to both the AM 97s and the XIIS.
Dill's DVS is based of the XIs.

Definitely. I had the KcK's in that color and they felt a lot better than the Workouts (never had the actual Plus model, think the toe cap is the only difference). Still have a mint pair of Workouts, they feel like boots.
I've personally never been too big a fan of all the shoes based on Dunks, think I like the ones that borrow from soccer/casual lines more. I also feel like skate shoe brands always make them look and feel nicer. Just my own experience.

You are right about the 95 connection for sure which is made obvious with the “Neon” colorway. I do see a bit of the 97 in there too.
Thanks for linking that article. Good shit. I see articles all the time by that Anthony Pappalardo guy who isn’t the AP we all know and it trips me out. It’s the most uncommon name for two people in skateboarding to have.

Main reference for the silas was the marathon tr range... Its kinda like a skateable low top of these (marathon tr mid):

cheers! I knew Skatan would chime in as the resident Adidas head. There's an old vid out there of when Silas was designing the shoe and went to the HQ in Germany and was sifting through some boxes. I always thought it was a ZX model but there you go...
I miss the Silas' and those black ZX's dearly...

Bruce Kilgore designed the AF1.
Bruce Kilgore and Peter Moore designed the AJ1.
Peter Moore designed the Dunk.
The Dunk and the AJ1 have the same outsole pattern (now the SB's have an updated version), both of which closely resemble the pattern on the AF1.
"Originally sketched by designer Peter Moore and called the College Color High, the Nike Dunk was an artistic mash-up of different shoes, a common design practice at Nike for ‘80s basketball shoes." https://news.nike.com/news/inside-access-the-iconic-nike-dunk-turns-30
The AJ1 and the Dunk have much better "court feel," or "board feel" in our case. The dunk (SB's at least) is noticeably more narrow in the midfoot which I like.

I miss this thread but I can't think of anything groundbreaking to bump it with so here is an obvious choice. This one influenced a bunch of skate shoes and other shoes as well.

I didn't bother doing any research on the dates of these releases, but what I gather is everyone just wanted Savier to still exist.

no! It was a beefed up and bulletproof (vegan) cupsole half cab that got taken off the market before it had a chance to claim its shine

lucky you, I had them in black cream (with the cream toecap) and they were some of the illest shoes I’ve ever rocked. Lots of hidden tech too

I've heard a few times the Koston 1 was inspired by a racquetball shoe. I'd love to see the shoe that was the inspiration.

These prada joints are the real deal. I have multiple pairs, sickest shoe. Always wanted the dill shoe back in the day, but these will for sure due.
Also...that silas baxter neal adidas shoe was not a zx, its a marathon Tr. almost identical copy.
i know alot of people really want that shoe re-released, but the marathon tr is about as close as you can get.

I picked up a Prada blundstone looking boot, and it felt like unbelievable quality. It was weird. Just holding it felt good. Wearing $1300 shoes seemed like some weirdo shit, so I didn’t. But it was pretty wild how solid/good the thing felt in my hand.
The dill shoe was maybe a better idea, than execution, but it was a cool idea.
-
The Emerica Gamma is almost identical to the classic Reebok Club C. I'm on my 3rd pair of Club C's as skateshoes currently and it got me wondering if these would out perform them as they seem to be a Reebok made for skating.

Yeah definitely a cool idea. I Have some Prada shoes from 2000 that have held up to this day, only thing is they couldn't figure out the insole so the comfort level is pretty low once they're worked in a bit

Those Gamma would def last longer since the Club C toebox blows out within a month, but I think Club C would have more impact support. That reebok sole might be the perfect cupsole.

Yeah the toebox stitching gets destroyed on them, but I always shoegoo it and the upper lasts until the outsole blows out. I used to shred shoes to tears, most pairs would last about a month but my first Club C's lasted for 8 months of skating 5/6 times a week. The sole seems way more durable than most skateshoes I tried and yeah, the comfort of their cupsole is unmatched.
