i kind of wish somebody never said that
-
Not feeling it.
-
The tricks he landed were great. Some of the bails were great too.
Did the video need to be 5 minutes long? Imo no but whatever I wanna see Gino skate and we at least got a few full speed tricks.
-
I'd rather see someone push Gino.
-
is that the real video or some kind of re-edit?
-
is that the real video or some kind of re-edit?
its not real
-
...why is the swoosh atop the sidewall of that shoe?
-
wish they suspended disbelief by not showing all that struggle
-
I rather see Gino grab a skate.

...why is the swoosh atop the sidewall of that shoe?
its fashion bro you wouldnt understand

I’d rather watch Joe Biden do push-ups

This was the skateboarding equivalent of having to write a 5 page paper and using 17 point font with triple spacing.

pretty much. although i do like the thesis of the gino back 360

Tom Penny and Gino both fell so far from the pedestal I had put them on (in terms of talent) that it really makes me respect the shit out of their contemporaries who still look good on a board AND do tricks that aren't an embarrassment to their legacies. Imagine having to 'put in work' for a backside 360 off a curb cut or a roll on back 5-0 on a half size curb?!
-
I didn't understand that edit exactly but I still love watching this dude push around & do tricks. I'm stoked if he just keeps feeding us chill stuff like this.
-
that was horrible, embarrasing and 4:40mins too long

I never hear anyone talk about Gino like Penny. Prime Penny was nothing short of legendary.

That's a tall glass of Milk jkI enjoyed it and Gino is ok by me.
edit: A landscape painting for 1:25? He's trolling us...

I’m going to forget I saw that.

The drop in skill isn’t the bummer in ginos output. It’s the sense of his obligation, not enjoyment I get from watching him that I find hard to see the positives in.
Maybe I’m projecting but he really doesn’t seem to want to be skating

It’s like forwarding a video on xxnx to the good part cause it’s worth it I guess
-
Reminds me of one of those Gonz YouTubes with two tricks slo-mo’d over six minutes
-
This made me more sad than anything. Why the fuck is he in the desert waiting on traffic with all black sweater and beanie on for a fucking back 360 off a curb? So much effort for so little.
-
hmm.. i can see why this wasn't put on the Nike SB channel
-
Could've done without the slo-mo slams and the entire outro, but it's still good to see him skating fast. The shoes sold out quick.
-
That was some bullshit.
-
The kickflip was cool

They both had the incredible style + skill combo, but you're right in the sense that Tom's impact is unmatched. Hell, Tom's still doing harder shit than Gino too.
-
That's called making lemonade out of lemons and I mean that in a good way.
The man is 46 years old and just landed a couple of sweet moves out in the real streets and looked good doing it.
I won't buy the shoes but still, it made me want to skate at least...

Nothing but the truth was 12 years ago and he was already in his mid 30s. Give your heads a shake.
There are people of a certain age that still see Gino as the absolute beauty that he is and have the disposable income to buy any product that dawns his name.
Seeing how his shoe sold out immediately I’d say he deserves whatever money he makes.
-
Can anyone interpret the meaning of that landscape drawing?
Kinda reminds me of a low-budget version of the last scene of that movie Antichrist.
-
Gino has made it clear he’s never dropping another part. The dude went pro over 25 years ago and is in his mid 40s. I’m hyped the dude still skates and does what he wants. Everyone on Long Island knows he still skates the park early in the morning all the time.
-
that colorway is sick.
-

guy looking to be in good shape too, nice
anyway we're selling shoes here people, not skateboarding but ya – new tired video in early this year
-
I want to hear sucui’s take on that back 5.0 backside out
-
When i saw that this clip lasted 5 min, i sure knew that there would not have 5 min of Gino footy: no need to be a genius for that ... but boy, i was so far from the awful truth.
What the hell was that last one and a half minute for ??
-
This wasn't his idea, was it? ....right.... soooo.... its not his fault?!
-
It looks like he skated about a handful of times in the last decade.

My War: Gino Ianucci
-
On the one hand, he is almost two years older than me. On the other hand, I skate with a dude who is two years older than me and he did a fucking nollie tre over a gap the other day.

What would Keenan be doing? Really miss that guy's skating and every time I see someone from that time period I wonder "WWKD?"

hahaah laughed too hard

Kind of makes your think how much better Daewon is than everyone although he hasn't done an actual part in a while but has a zillion insta clips the last few years.
-
I was thinking about leaving my sweats on and skating behind Safeway later too.
-
Seeing someone as naturally talented as Gino falling down on a skateboard as an old man allows me to go easy on my talentless self when I, too, fall down riding a skateboard.
-

Makes me wish all of his classic footage could’ve been filmed in/what appears to be a Costco shopping center.

Honestly this only serves to highlight how wild the Chief's part is in Damn it all. He's only a year younger than Gino
-
I don't follow sports, so it's hard for me to make a good analogy, but it would be funny if Nike put out an ad with a legendary basketball player who's around early/mid 40's to the same affect. It's an ad for a new signature shoe, and the footage is 5 full minutes of him at a local elementary school trying to sink one on the mini nets. But then he does it! And right after that there's just a picture of the grocery list from his countertop for a minute and a half.

That's kind of a moot point with Nike though. They could associate that shoe with Fred Flintstone and they'd fly off shelves as long as they were limited edition or whatever.

Gino has great style. This edit did a disservice to him.
Whenever I watch his footage I always think his trucks look super tight. Anyone know how tight Gino skates his trucks?

They could've just edited that into three clips for Instagram with the date of the shoe drop in the caption and everyone would've been stoked.
-
Why is he skating sidewalks and curbs in the middle of nowhere? gave it a weird vibe
-
aside from the skating and all. what up with the misplaced swoosh. not a bad colorway but that swoosh over the sole is horrible in my opinion.
-
He landed 6 tricks, 5 if you don’t count a repeat. So 1 trick per minute. Great.
-
and that BS 360 wasn't up to Gino's (or anyone's) standard
Seems like Gino can't handle the baldness

I like Gino (understatement) and I liked this.
And now I’ll go take an extra push.
(He does have a good push, but that’s some weird shit at this point: the ‘I’d rather watch....’ good push tho.

That was terrible and the shoe is boring/ugly...
As a side note, I was listening to WGVU Real Oldies 1480/850 the other day and I heard this bit of violin in a song that I knew I had heard in Gino’s “The Chocolate Tour” part. Turns out GZA sampled the violin from a song called “I (Who Have Nothing)” performed by Terry Knight and the Pack for his song “Publicity” and the beat was used in Gino’s part. I love how a song from a great skate part can stick with you and you can remember the part and tricks when you hear the song that was used. Also, it’s pretty cool to figure out which songs were used to make great beats...
-
I really love Gino's skating, and assuming the direction of this short, I feel like the editing was a miss. The last two minutes or so, where its just audio and an image, made me so confused and kind of upset haha. The whole edit was just kind of odd, and again, mostly to do with the editing.
I think I'd rather watch Max Palmer's trucks shake. Haha I mean no maliciousness when saying that, I honestly really enjoyed that manual line.
If it wasn't for the weird editing, and perhaps one too many bail clips, I feel like this would have otherwise inspired me. I kind of wish this was a cliche legend vid, where its talking about like what it takes for him to skate and get clips, as they show the bail footage to eventual make.
Shoe Opinion: Not something I'd wear personally, but I think its a cool colorway. I like where the swoosh is positioned.

The 30 seconds of actual skating should have been edited to that song.
-
The swoosh into the sole makes it look like a wrestling shoe when he's skating. Also weird song choice for Gino.
-
Can't say that I loved the edit but it's Gino. Dude is like 46 and he was skating pretty damn fast. Skateboarding is definitely not something that gets easier with age and if you weren't around during his era it can be difficult to have proper perspective on his(or Penny's) greatness. It would like only being around for Wizards era Jordan.

Controversial take: I liked it. Maybe cuz I like Gino and that’s one of my favorite Jane’s songs. I thought the song fit the part well. I even liked the art at the end to let the song play through. Shoe is meh though. Would of been better just murdered out all black.
-
Even the video milked a few minutes of a static image

So rad. That Gino is still going for back 360s, thirty years after this footage (a lot of it from the 80s) - is awesome. Massive respect and much thanks.

b/s 360 at that speed is a hard trick. Not triple set hard but pretty hard.

It accentuates just how bad the video was. Kind of weird he and Nike were both happy to have their names on that clip

Here's a good explanation of the video:
https://anthonypappalardo.substack.com/p/gino-iannucci-behind-61st-street
-
I liked the kick flip and the manuals alot. I'm excited to see more from him. His detractors get pretty excited for some years now. Thats fine, he's had a steady trickle of footage the last 10 years so he's not the biggest milker out there rite now.

He needs to be more like Chico

Given it’s agnostic of theme, I like the video more now

I kind of avoided this one because I heard it sucked and didn't want to see another one of my favorites from that era fall off. I wish I never watched it, this shit just made me sad.
