I can't believe I saw a nollie frontside noseblunt nollie tre out on a ledge and it looked good. That's insane. Obviously it's really incredible mind blowing skating but he made a lot of over tech (in my opinion) no no combos look really visually pleasing.

I said "what the fuck" out loud at least 4 or 5 times during this part. Shane O'Neil is one of the greats of our time. I'm not even a huge fan personally, but I can't deny his skill. Objectively speaking, he is one of the most skilled/technical dudes out, and it's rare to see that type of skating done with such good style too. Dude is an animal. It's a bummer he got so used to Janoskis that he doesn't want to skate anything else, so now his pro shoe is just a Janoski ripoff. A dude that good deserves his own shoe, not a slightly altered version of another pros shoe.

For some reason, the switchflip backsmith switchflip really got me. Even though he did a bunch of way crazier shit. Also, HOW THE FUCK is it considered acceptable to cut off the top half of his body in 80 percent of those clips? I get that sometimes you'll shoot it differently, maybe sometimes you want it up close. But the vast majority of that video was just the lower half of his body.... I don't get this.

So, the shoe's just a Janoski? I've had a couple pairs and I don't get the hype behind them.
It was nice waking up to a Marnell clip, and it was a fun, quick part. Shane's grown on me through the last few years. Used to hate him but I can't deny his style now

Shane is insane. The sw flip smith flip out was the crazy one for me. Always imagined it irl. In fact, half of these clips are all tricks that I imagined in my head but never saw it perfectly executed until now.
Anything he puts out is incredible. One of my favorite parts from him.

Totally this. I still appreciate his skating for how smooth it is despite the difficulty. And I have to say, his trick selection never goes full circus or ledge dance despite covering some of that ground. If that makes any sense.

Yeah I was too distracted by the song choice to focus for a sec. That song is a buried gem. This was the Dion recovery album after a years long heroin fog that commercially flopped. Who knows, maybe the rights were cheap as a result. Couple other bangers on that album

never really understood the reliability thing, most skateboarding is so hard to do as it is, even for the person doing the trick. it shouldn't keep you from enjoying what ur watching.
extremely gnarly but i thought a lot of his combos were kinda gross. not going to watch that a second time.
glad he gets paid handsomely by nike for all the effort he puts in to being so consistent. that shit aint easy even if its not my cup of tea.

Don't get me wrong, part is incredible BUT if you compare this to his 'Levels' part its not even close to as good. A lot less rails, gaps/stairs, and even the crazy ledge wizardry was better in Levels as well. Wonder if he got hurt or something.

Don't get me wrong, part is incredible BUT if you compare this to his 'Levels' part its not even close to as good. A lot less rails, gaps/stairs, and even the crazy ledge wizardry was better in Levels as well. Wonder if he got hurt or something.
I think it might just to come down to him having done so much stuff. This almost feels like a mix of some quick filming sessions for a few lines and checking off some of the harder tricks on his list.

So many older dudes don't want to put out parts now because they aren't as good as before. I don't have a problem with that but I don't understand if you are skating why you don't put stuff on the gram. Most people are hyped to see anything. It's not like the Slap forum. Gallant skates curbs now all the time and people think it's sick.

research on expertise shows that the more talented one is, the more time is put into the field of talent. if you compare musicians in a young age that are described as talented they invest multiple times more time in practicing than "untalented" people, probably because of intrinsic motivation and the feeling of flow

It is like Michael Jordan. The natural talent is unreal, but other people have something close to that level. Its the drive to be the best at your chosen field which pushes it to the next level. Some of the tricks in there are tricks I only thought I'd see in Skate. Like Nollie front-noseblunt tre-flip out, Switch big flip front blunt, bs big-spin-front-blunt-big flip out, etc. That shit was nuts.

I say the tricks, and of course they sound ridiculous, but the footage reminds me of someone skating the box out front their house where the ground is perfect and the ledge has angle iron.
