Let’s not focus on the negative! In contrast to the “last purchase you regretted” thread, what was the last purchase you were happy with?
After almost 30 years of being cheap I finally got a set of Swiss. Very hyped. They feel almost too fast.
Alien workshop’s 8.5” shape is my new go to I think.
I also got a Yeti coffee mug, which I’m probably THE MOST excited about.

F4 conical fulls 99a. I regret being strictly bones for the past few years. F4s are hands down the best formula out. The conical fulls are my new favorite shape.
Edit: I recently purchased a set of swiss and agree 100 percent. On the other hand my stylish speed checks are looking better.

NB 420s. Totally not a shoe I'd normally wear. I have not and doubt I will skate in them but they have been so nice to my feet at work.
-
Venture Lows
-
High-threat count sheets for my bed. Fucking amazing.
-
Green Machine Juice from the break room
-
dc lynx
-
Probably the tablets in skating right now. They were a plan b but sure they work great for me.
-
Honestly the NB# 306. Totally surprised how much I have enjoyed skating them
-
Got this theories deck. I was having trouble 360 flipping my quasi with a 14.325 wheelbase. I think this is 14.25 which works much better for me.

I own a prius that is impossible to replace the built in stereo deck. The six disc system plays mp3, but because the car is so old, the stereo was starting to act up.
That's when I found out the chinese figured this thing out.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SK8YK8L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I bought this and use a low profile 32GB thumb drive and it plays all the files on there without having to have a separate ipod/mp3 player hooked to aux cable. There isn't a display to see what is playing or what is next, but it does the job of transmitting to fm well most of the time. It remembers the last file playing, but restarts it when you turn off the car so sometimes I let the song finish before I hop out.

Right?! I feel AWS is seriously slept on. I’ve had a couple 8.5s and currently on an 8.25 and they have all been great.
-
Skate Wise:
Twin Tails or symmetrical boards in general. Helped rid me some of my skate OCD.
Ultra Grip. Ever since I got back was looking for something readily available in person that felt like Black Magic, and for me this is it.
Non Skate Wise:
Actual good beard care product shit. Picked up really good beard conditioner, beard butter, and some high quality combs. Beard has never felt and looked better.
-
Ace 44’s. Got my pop back after struggling with stage XI’s for too many sets, those things are just too tall for me.
-
I got a rear mount bottle cage the other day and I’m hyped, now I don’t have to die from thirst in the end of summer heat / humidity
-
8" Tensor ATG Mags
Vans Rowans

Riptide "cracked ice" 96a pivot cups, for my blown out old Thunder Titanium 149's that I refuse to give up on. Just hit axel a tiny bit on the back truck, hopefully with these new pivot cups I'll be able to hit full axel in the back and maybe up front in my crook groove before needing new trucks.
Seriously though, yes they are expensive, but these Riptide pivot cups are worth their weight in gold.

Right?! I feel AWS is seriously slept on. I’ve had a couple 8.5s and currently on an 8.25 and they have all been great.
I’m on these now too, have had three now, love the shape and bbs wood.

Just gripped an 8.38 today, it’s my first AWS deck. I was worried the tail would be too pointy but nope, shape looks and feels great. The nose seems pretty fantastic for switch shit. Very excited. I’ve been riding Isle 8.38 for a long time and they’re pretty flat. Feels good to be back on a lil more concave. I’m wearing new balance 440 and instantly feel more connected to my board.
Irrelevant sidenote, but i’ve had a crazy relationship with Isle decks. It’s like my overall consistency is lower than normal, but i’ve been able to do the hardest tricks i’ve ever done on them. Anyone been here before?

I'm dying to try some :(

Raw thunder 147s, bones Swiss 6, grizzly blank griptape, Supra elevates, Chapman blanks.

Rowan’s
-
Emerica winos, and some nike sb track/skate pants for cold seshes
-
Wings g6 slips too
-
Beer City board. I'll have to get a second one to really be sure but it's been my favorite board in a while. Bones stf the harder ones. Was on f4s but I think these feel better. Zealous bearings. Tensor mag light atgs. Basically my whole setup right now feels right. I definitely am not in better shape as I continue to get older, lose energy and gain weight, but the equipment I have has been great.
-
Bones 52mm V1 83b
Could be a little softer but they are a solid general use wheel. Tired an Arrow 52mm Conical in 83b and the hardness was really unforgiving on slides.
Silver Skate Tool
I snapped the axle but wrench joints but it still works great especially for Ventures and the troublesome hanger / baseplate positioning.
Nike Check Solarsoft
Wasn't expecting much for this price point shoe but I'm pleasantly surprised with the durability. It doesn't cup the foot fully but it's held up to kickflips respectably.
-
nike sb blazer hi. reliable.
bole hora coffee. that stuff is crazy. i drink filter coffee at home, and it's very nice. i made espresso with it at work and i was blown away. taste straight up like strawberry. when milk is added, i.e. in a flat white, it tastes like some weird strawberry/caramel milk drink. i usually don't drink milky coffee, but this one will be an exception.
a new mouse for my pc. my old one is still largely intact, but the rubber on the thumbrest piece would start to disintegrate and flake all over my desk. went with a logitech g pro wireless. feels very good in my hand, no annoying cable to deal with anymore and it's not some freakish gamer tek abomination designwise.
black carhartt b01 pants.
i actually hate my current deck but will still skate it because lack of reason and false sense of duty.

Yellow Slime Balls Vomits 60mm 97a
I've been eyeing some 97slimes, for a specific slappy spot, no sliding on the ground no matter the wheel - how do you like them?
-
Stoked on my new indys. The qc is great imo. Absolutely love my quasi too. Love my dylans still too

Same same 8.25 and i think its my new go to.
AWS has been a treat under my feet.
That and i got some 55 f4 99 conical full and 54 f4 99 classics. Never understand why i get the conical, i like the shape so much but the classics just works so much better for me.
So my 2 favorite buys im happy with i guess is a AWS deck and some f4 classics 99 54mm.

Got me curious about which deck you're skating.

Spitfire OG CLassics. Thought they were gonna flat spot but nah. Coming from F4 101, the OG Classics slide jus as good once they break in.
-
Flight deck, bones bushings.
-
Tensor mag light ATG 5.5 - got them for $40, they had a hideous green baseplate so I sanded the paint off with some grip scraps, but other than that they're perfect old man trucks. Incredibly light (264g for an 8.25 truck.. thats like 100g lighter than the same size indy), the soft mag light grind that makes rough curbs feel smooth, and the turn is SOOO much better than any previous Tensor. They turn better than Indys in my opinion, and the interlocking bushings let you really lean into them without wheelbite or dead zones. This geometry is legit and the stock bushings are actually pretty good, which is something I never expected to say about a pair of Tensors.
Film 5.5 hollows - very similar to above but with a bit more of a responsive feel to the turn and obviously a good bit more weight. I think the height is pretty close to ideal for me pop-wise. I don't have to consciously remind myself to snap the tail down harder than usual or I'll ghost pop, and its not hitting the ground so fast that it throws off my timing. These also have interlocking bushings and after skating these and the ATG it really makes me wonder why more companies don't have bushings like this. Great trucks overall, I think I prefer the turn bit more than the Tensors so between that and the height these have quickly become one of my favorite trucks.
Decks I've bought fairly recently that I really like:
The new ScumCo PS Stix boards - they're all different shapes, but I've tried 4 of the 6 (Team, Downey, Abair, and Beall) and all have been really, really good. The 8.25 team one is probably my favorite.
Anything from DOA - Much like ScumCo, DOA seems to always kill it. Never tried one that I didn't love, but my favorite is probably the 8.25 Flat as Fuck strings deck. Has that awesome, floaty South Central pop and is probably my favorite tapered shape ever. The square shape is really good too, if the tail was slightly mellower then it would be pretty much my ideal deck.
Shoes:
NB 212 - nice wide toe, but a little narrow in the middle although I'm guessing that will loosen up over time.
DC Infinite TX SE - Got them for like $25 shipped from the last big sale they had and wish I got more than one pair now. They're really thin/flexible and light so they have fantastic boardfeel, plus the rubber toe cap is really durable and the flick is amazing. They also have a nice lightly padded tongue and good insoles so they're comfy as fuck. Maybe my favorite skate shoe ever.
-
Got me curious about which deck you're skating.
quasi gilbert "gary" 8.25
bought it because it has a shorter wb than my old one but is pretty flat and somewhat still feels longer. i wasn't familiar with this shape so that might be the problem, but usually i like some concave. i try a flat one like this every once in a while only to discover that i don't really like them. i think i can adjust, but i hate the process and probably will get a familiar shape next anyways.

I was so bummed when I read it here that they are PS Stix now, love Scumco but I don’t like PS wood, at all😕

He still has some logo boards on the site, those are Pennswood.
I used to be pretty anti-PS but back in the fall I got a Foundation and a Toy Machine out of nostalgia and it completely changed my mind to the point it's one of my favorites now. Love the light, springy feel it has and they have a lot of mellow/medium concave molds with big blunt noses which I love. Plus none of the ones I've tried recently have prematurely sogged out on me... in fact I've got a WKND that I've been beating the shit out of and riding in the rain for months and its still got great pop. I wore through 4 plys on the tail before the thought of replacing it even crossed my mind.
Different strokes for different folks though.

I agree with you on the Conical Fulls. I don't know if I can skate anything else at this point. Also F4 is now the standard. So glad the shortage finally ended.

Airpods pro. Anyone debating on getting some, do yourself a favor. Being able to block out all noise like that is incredible

Venture 5.8's
Got them feeling good after toying with them, I removed the stock bushings and threw some indy blacks in there and they feel so much better.
-
this thread has reminded me how 'meh' i've been on a bunch of recent gear, but in the spirit of positivity, i love the anti-hero 8.62 popsicle and am sticking with it.

I might give that a go. I had my Ventures wobble loose today, got some terrible wheel bite and got caught in a crack riding down the street. Ate shit hard. Hopefully the bushing Change will help these otherwise awesome trucks.
2 things I'm loving:
Folklore 8" board - 32 x 14 make them idea for Venture forged models. Plenty of pop despite being pretty worn down and the nose/tail smoshed from runaway boards. Got my money's worth with this board, definitely picking another one up when I'm in Australia.
Venture 5.2 Hollow Lights Low - didn't think I would like them low but the pinch is superb.
-
2x Polar 8.5 decks
Anti Hero 9.1 Orange Crusher deck
Indy 169 hollow

I bought a woodchuck laminates 8.125 deck. It has a 14.25 wheelbase. The deck just works so well for me. The shape is perfect. Been skating it 3 weeks and hasn’t sogged out yet. Works so well I bought another one. $30 bucks shipped. Can’t beat it.

Which trucks you ride with that deck?
-
I put together a whole new complete this week. It's mostly components I know well but with two new things I'm excited about.
- Skating the Manderson Krooked shape with the real square nose and tail and it's hella satisfying to flip. It feels a little wider than I've been skating lately but it feels like kickflips just sorta catch themselves.
- I was having a real bad time breaking in my Thunders so I swapped the bushings for some soft Bones bushings I had in my cruiser. I feel like I've activated a cheat code.
-
Destructo D1 Mid's 5.75 really feeling these trucks, was running a set of Thunder hollow lights 149ers, and it seems like I'm getting some better response with the added weight, or maybe its the height. They turn and grind great, I ordered them off their site and they actually sent me wax and a sticker pack along with it.
I've been thinking of snagging one of those new AWS deck, the 8.25 with the double nose shape. Might be pulling the trigger on this soon. It's either that or a WKND or Quasi shape that has a short tail both are 8.3 with 6.3 inch kicks.
So its either BBS or PS and I was kind of looking for input.

Always wanted a double nose board. 8.5?
-
Bones Big Ball Reds are surprisingly faster and smoother than I expected
Also is that AWS double nose only on the 8.25 or is the 8 also double nosed?
-
^the boards on the aws site don’t even say it’s double nose so who can you even trust anymore
-
DC Legacy slims. Pretty much the only shoe I've been skating for the last 2 years and I don't want to skate anything else. As long as they keep making them, I'm going to keep buying them. Got 2 pairs on the way at the moment, got 'em cheap on the DC site.
Only other shoe I want to try is the Tiago NB shoe once it comes out.
-

Took it straight to AWS and asked instead of guessing. Both the 8.0 and the 8.25 are double noses
Also fully backing the Legacy 98 Slims. This might be the sixth post I’ve made saying so. 10/10 would recommend

F4 101a full time now. I wish they burned slower though

How do you like 101 F4's compared to 101 bones stfs, if you've been able to skate both.

I just pulled the trigger on the 8.25 AWS double nose, also scooped some F4 tablet 101’s. I’m coming off of riding some bones stf 101’s so I could give you a comparison after a little while as well.

I don't know what took me so long but bones medium bushings. They're so good. I always just rode the bushings that came with trucks and then just obliterated them and kept skating bushings that I could eventually take off with my fingers because they were so broken.
Also gt blazer lows. I've been skating pair after pair lately and they feel so good.

Enjoy while they last, because they get smashed down pretty quick and might possibly be the least durable bushings around.

vans paradoxxx, fucking tanks. been skating them for over 3 months now. i always use shoe goo for skate shoes so i can't really say if the suede is all that good but i didn't break through the canvas on the inside with my big toe for the first time in ages, shit's really sturdy, even after i finally got a small hole on the toebox from doing kickflips i still was able to put some of the goo on there and they're probably going to last for another month. they took a bit to break in, but after i got used to them they started feeling great, probably the best cupsole offering from vans atm, especially if you like more traditional bulky cupsoles. i didn't skate in the mid 90s but i believe that these might feel similar to some shoes from back then, i actually bought them because i thought they looked like something that you would see on ricky oyolas feet in underachievers ;D ;D

Those look sick. TBH they're a lot better looking than most of the mid-90s, aside from a few.

This was the state of mine after a month. And yes, I ran them loose.
Seriously the worst quality bushings I've ever come across. they are extremely sensitive to temperature. In hot weather, they completely melt and offer zero rebound. Then the next day they're completely squished out but rock hard because it's slightly cooler outside. Then they just proceed to rip themselves apart. Completely useless pieces of shit.

Jesus, you should send an email to Skate One. Maybe they'll give you some sort of compensation.

I’ve been running the same sets for years.

This was the state of mine after a month. And yes, I ran them loose.

Nah you just fat yo :)
Just kidding bro. I had the same problem, busted the mediums way WAY to quick, just get the hards. I'm to the point where i mix hard bottom/top, shit cant remember which way around mine are, but they actually last now.

I go everwhere by bike and this is by far the best purchase i made in recent years.

Yeah this looks insane. I’ve been running mine for a while and they’re kind of loud but working great. I’ve been skating them for a couple months and they feel good. I feel like you just got faulty bushings. I’ll edit with a picture of how mine look when I get a chance.

I'm unapologetically skating in the Nyjah nikes. I don't even care. I have never ever ever found a shoe that fits me as well as these. The size 13's fit like 12.5 and they hold up stupid well. Like no holes after weeks of light skating and I practice flip tricks quite a lot. I've taken to ripping off his name from the tongue but fuck it. These shoes are too good for me to even care about who gets the money for them.

Yeah, some of the colorways are total garbage. I've been lucky to be able to grab a couple decent pairs. Sure nyjah is lame as fuck but seriously, the shoes are fucking solid. I have actually bought multiple pairs in case they stop making them.

Yes they do. The only thing is, if the shoes get wet, they'll crack if you put it near heat. Kind of weird but not unexpected given the material. Even then, with the cracks, the shoe still holds up really well. Seriously, the only shitty thing about these shoes is the pro whose name is on the shoe. Honestly have never been so happy with a sneaker in my life. I have four pairs right now. Straight up my girl buys them for me periodically because I like them so much.

Couple pics of my latest haul of DOA stuff. The white Tech and brown Ben Havran boards are e mold (flat as fuck) and the black Chambers deck is standard concave. All 8.25, and the Tech deck must have been a bottom stack because it's super mellow even for a flat, so I'm hyped to try it but my "Strings" flat from the last release still has a ton of life left so I'm going to hold off for a while.

I want to try a pair just because they look so unique. I’ve be running thin grippy vulcs for years tho so I’m not sure how well I’d transition to the Nyjahs.

Tried them on in store yesterday and they did feel secure albeit a little chunkier than I like. Tactics and Warehouse Skate is having a discount on them, may scoop up a pair of the grey / red ones.

I just started wearing them, and my first day I really liked them. However after wearing them (not skating) a second day My feet were killing Me. But I refused to give up on them now I have 3 sessions on them and wear them to work. I am back to loving them and although I have about 5 pairs of skate shoes stashed away, I have no plans on skating anything but the Nyjahs from now on. They are amazing IMO

This is after skating them 3 times totaling about 4-5 hours(I'm old) Plus almost entirely fliptricks on a new deck. Barely any wear in the toe and lost one lace while trying to get some of My heelflip tricks back. But the shoes still look new.

Ace 33s, swapped out the bushings for Bones Hardcore soft (blue) and they're by far the nicest feeling trucks I think iv'e ever had.

Yeah I feel the same way. I really really hope they continue to make these shoes. I've never had skate shoes this good in my entire life. I get that shoe choice has so much to do with foot size and skate style and whatnot so obviously these won't work for everyone but I'm 100% in love with these shoes.

Got Mini Super Juices in the mail today, set them up, bombed a few chill hills, and i'm feeling great.

Stoked on Tablet shaped spitfires. Wasn't sure they'd suit me but I learned Slappy Smiths today and I think they helped in this process.

sick! what size tablets? intrigued by riding surface on par with conical fulls

I got the 55mm 99a ones. I have some 54mm 101s up next.
-
From that Altamont sale. 3 pairs of jeans some shirts and a jacket. I'm feeling good.
-
really hyped on these. i went from 101 52mm wheels to 99a 55mm. i really like the wider contact patch the lockins have for chunky east coast sidewalks and streets. I don't have to push nearly as much and setting up on rough spots feels so much smoother

I would say yes, 9 is too tight for me, 10 is comfy but the toe box is huge. A 9.5 would have been just right for me, same experience with Emerica and Nike

nice nice thx dude. could only find the Manolo colorway in 9.5, so that’s what’s coming in the mail hehe.
all this sitting around at home leaves way too much time for online shopping...

Damn, I was looking for the 9.5 but Tactics only they only had a 9, so I'll stretch it out with some orthopedic insoles.

I chose the Manolo because it has an additional bit of material over the toe cap, hopefully that helps with durability.

eS Square Three - strikes a good balance between cupsole in terms of padding and grippiness of a vulc. Looks reminiscent of OG Accel which looks really puffy by today's standards.
