You are on point with everything except this part. The police have proven time and time again they are not equipped to handle mental health issues, and that tends to be the first line of defense in these situations. Nor are there even resources to really do anything meaningful. Sadly, every metropolitan in the US is filled with homeless people battling mental health issues and/or addiction, and the numbers are only growing. I see it in my city. I have it in my family.

Exemplary behavior. At this point it's just common sense that this is the right thing to do, too, yet in similarly controversial situations a lot of companies would still prefer denial and trying to cover shit up which 1/ is obviously dishonest 2/ sounds like more work than actually being respectable enough to address the issue and 3/ even in basic terms of business, is literally the worst possible look for a company and the most efficient way to tank it. I hope Girl is just as busy terminating this guy's contract as we speak as they are deleting comments from their customers, and there's some kind of announcement to come. Every company that keeps trying to cultivate false icons in the social media age like it's still possible to fully control a rider's image and lie about his personality when they have personal accounts is doomed to fail. I Dm'd girl like a man since they deleted my comments, for my part I told them that I will spread the word about biebel in my local skate community and encourage the local shop to stop selling items from crail.
This whole situation makes me so frustrated, I can't think of one situation where the appropriate action for a person in their 30s is jump out of their car and beat a naked homeless/mentally ill person unconscious, if I was those kids I'd be a lot more afraid after two white meat heads beating up a naked person

But if you really want to get triggered read below.
What Biebel did was film an incident. I would say that what he did was not much different than the person that filmed the cop kneel on George Floyd’s neck. (Although the filmer in MN did not laugh about the incident, more the opposite) but needless to say they both filmed someone hurt another person(that eventually died) as a bystander.
I also think that the rioting and general violence going on caused by the protests have led people to have a state of mind that is more hurtful than peaceful. So it would be the protests that would be responsible for the black on black violence witnessed in the Biebel film.
I wish all parties would have handled all of these situations differently but no one has any coping mechanisms.

I'm honestly baffled by Girl (and personally hugely disappointed in Mike Carroll) seemingly trying to save face by sweeping this under the rug like they just can (which in itself is delusional) - what they're doing right now is literally just blocking every single fan they had left and every potential customer who still had some kind of hope for Crailtap - at least enough to bother taking time out of their life to address the issue. Unless they end up coming through with some kind of eventual action, they're just destroying their own market in the public eye. It's fucked in the first place when skateboarders have to tell the companies what it is they're doing wrong that should be basic common sense to begin with, but such apparent denial is even more fucked. The disconnection is real, what kind of business model is this?
Of course there are many other rad brands to support, and they're more visible than ever these days too. As far as I'm concerned, shit like this is why I only fuck with indie brands and even then that's when I have reasons to know the owners are good people. Kodak collabs aren't going to suffice for street cred when your riders publicly act like braindead goons, Girl.

To this day I've had the FTC book and my copy of Finally proudly sitting in a visible spot on my shelf in my office for years, now I'm just about to retire them. Has anyone corroborated this scenario other than Craig/Biebel? I would argue that eating up their PR statement and drawing conclusions at their word is not much different than drawing conclusions based on the video alone.
The difference is that we can actually see a naked dude getting pummeled past the point of consciousness in the street and a jocky kook from our culture egging it on, laughing and promoting it on his social media account to hundreds of thousands of followers. Days later, Biebel and Craig cave with an excuse to try and justify the beating that could be made up to save face and try to sweep this under the rug, while simultaneously deleting comments about it and blocking the people that post them.
There's likely more to the story, but this is all anyone has to go on and the optics are not good.
