the recent pj purpleteeth footy made me think. if i would be a professional skateboarder and risking alot for my clips, i would refuse to get them botched by strobek or dr purpleteeth if possible.
who would you try to avoid? who would you be fine with?

Avoid - purple teeth
Love- Ben chadourne

If I’m filming I’d kick it with a lot of people, people to avoid kooks, gimmick, weirdos and no Youtube bullshit.
Best place to be when your in the moment is having a camera and getting a birds eye view.
-
Avoid Chris Ray at all costs
-
Somewhat of a tangent here. I feel like a fuddyduddy saying this. Oh well.
As far as pro-shot stuff goes, I can't watch videos with the modern Fat Bill style of focusing on skaters below the knees. It just doesn't hit right for me. I can't get thru a lot of current videos / releases because of this.
Think about it this way. Daniel Shimizu is undoubtedly one of the all time best as far as style and image goes (and overall skating of course, the whole package). Now, imagine if all Shimizu footage - all of his iconic parts - were filmed almost exclusively below the knees. Nobody would know how smooth he looks. His clips would be underwhelming, and maybe his legend wouldn't exist beyond people who've skated with him. Style is a full body phenomenon.

TY, unless he's going to go back to VX and film like he did for Transworld. Last thing I want to do is bail into a flying drone.

TY

definitely not my dad (your grandfather, based on the lore) dude missed my first kickflip in 2006. sad.

Avoid - purple teeth

YES

Obviously avoid strobeck.
Jacob Harris would be the dream though.
-
if i were only to film with Chris Mulhern for the rest of my life, i would be okay with that
-
I don't pay any attention to filmers
-
My favorite filmer is Romain Batard. I think it’s pretty fucking hard to be a bad filmer/editor tbh.
-
Avoid Polanski
Use Scorcese

Harris would be amazing

Chase Gabor
Heard he can be a real tool at times
-
anyone who doesn't use a VX

Jesus what a dick. Not that it’s surprising or anything, but he’s yelling at beagle to “FUCKIN MAKE IT “ as he’s running beside him lol. Then makes fun of him for getting into a 5050 lol. That would be a fun experience

Chase Gabor
Heard he can be a real tool at times
Yeah, he might screw you over.

I would try to avoid Ty Evans and Chris Ray at all costs

Yes and also an anal rapist at times too

Think I’m gonna avoid Jacob Walder since it appears he just sits on a bench, with that wide angle, grabbing up Terrence footy; you’d think he’d at least stand up & zoom or pan or anything! Maybe come with a follow shot?
Instead I’ll opt for a Gregson type of scenario.
Or maybe some hill bombing, but not the lazy type where Gershall sits at the top of the hill & films the rider succumbing to gravity’s pull, block after city block. Rather, the sort where the camera rides along with the squad at ankle height, weaving in & out of traffic.
Yeah...
That.

Ty Evans (I want MJ's part)
Chris Ray (I like originality)
Ryan Gershall (I like my head not having brain damage)
Bam (does he count?)
Some UK filmer for a small brand. Apparently doesn't know how to use a VX at all yet has a paying job as a filmer! (I would name names but I know him through friends and I'm not gonna start a fucking fight)
J. Strickland (do I need to say more?)
Chase Gabor (the only thing I want in my arse hole is something loving. A screwdriver is not something I'd call loving)
Dan Sturt (I mean shit I'm not fucking jumping off a building for some religious nut!)
Geoff Rowley (this counts cus he has filmed. I met him in Liverpool once and he was the biggest dickhead to people it was amazing. I couldn't be more disappointed and my day was ruined)
Most YouTubers
Jamie Mosberg (It's a skate video, not a Prada advert)
Bill Strobeck (Now if this was 1998 - 2011 then sure thing! I'll hop in front of VX Bill, but HPX Bill? Naaaa fuck that son. Go party with that fuck head Jonah Hill-Bombed reviews on Mid-90's)
Ryan Gershall (another mention cus fuck GX)
The 917 filmer
Daniel Wheatley (the mother fucker has mad anger issues I ain't fucking with that)
Vern Laird (too many sus comments from him about underage girls it's a no from me)
The brothers from Whyte House Productions (Almost Round 3. Can't fuck with that shit or they'll straight up sue)
Chris Carter (might have started Alien but he can't film for shit)
Junior (was the second angles filmer for Cliché from 2004 till 2012? Just wasn't as good as Fred in most ways)
R.B Umali (not an awful filmer but nothing that makes him stand out, and I question too many of his editing decisions)
Nigel Alexander (fuck that dude and his YouTube channel. Nothing but beef with him since 2012)
Kevin Phelps & Steve Haring (made the worst Birdhouse video)
That mother fucker with the 360 camera
Dr. Purple Tits. I'd stomp on that fucking GoPro
Ryan Gee (not technically a bad filmer, but he'd be so busy trying to show off his stupid loud car that we wouldn't make it to the spot as we'd end up Ryan-Well-Dunn
Jamie Thomas (permission to shit sir? Permission granted soldier)

I think I know who you mean. At least, there is someone that comes to mind. Films with a VX2000?
-
1. Fat Bill - I would actually like to see what is going on in my footage.
2. Beagle - Seems like an ok dude but I cant stand his personality (at least how he comes off in videos)
3. Purple Teeth - Might as well just drag a GoPro behind my board
4. That dude at my local that always wants to make a homie edit but has no idea what he is doing.
-
You...did you mean skate while filming or having someone film?
Either way...still you

I think I would be good company. I am chill and always down for nerding the fuck out about skateboarding. my skatelevel is medium but I am mostly motivated to try my best at whatever spot we go to. I never get angry or trow tantrums. and I am skating for 20 years. so I may have some stories. what about you?
back to the question: having someone film. please excuse me not being clear. English is not my first language.
have a nice day.
-
Whoever/whatever they used to film that Etnies Album video.
-
Purpleteeth is goddamn awful. Shane Auckland seems like a good guy and is a great filmer
-
Would
Brian Panebianco
Beagle
P stone (RIP)
Dan Wolfe
Would not
Chris Ray
Ty Evans
Strobek

I guess Ty is he’s using crazy cameras or drones.
I would want to film with Jamie Thomas, I think we are kinda similar when it comes to filming.
-
RB Umali and Bill Weiss. Those guys have never improved as filmers and it's too bad given the riders they cover.
-

That's some masochist shit right there.
-
This thread reminded me of how awkwardly the Crailtap filmers portrayed Vincent Alvarez over the years, only for Josh Stewart to make him look 50x better in the Static video.
Vincent looks his best when he's charging through crusty, unique spots. Not doing nollie lipslide bigspins on the same ledges Mike Mo is trying to get a clip-on as well, in HD with a shitty heavy metal backing track.
So, not Frederico or Brain Farm-era Ty.

I think I push myself and my friends in a similar way to what I’ve heard described about Jamie. Of course I’m not doing tricks that good but I get the vibe.
-
anyone who takes skating seriously. also, people who freak out when they cant land a trick even though their financial well-being does not depend on them landing said trick. those people should just play football, instead. i guess this not only goes for people that i dont want to film with, but these are people that i dont want to associate with, period.
-
Skinny Bill. Fat Bill didn't film like an asshole.

Talk about bait and switch. Beagle you delusional kook, nobody wants to see you skateboard. Show us Heath kirchart and keep your rancid style far far away from the lens.

That guy that filmed that one trans world video thinking he was getting all “magenta” on our arses but made it look like the skate version of the Blair witch project
-
That guy with the gun from the other thread.

Anyone that films with a digital camera or VX.
