I used to solely skate without weed and save the weed for after or to end the session. Then at some point my meniscus fully tore and I started smoking just to be able to skate through the pain. I had the surgery and now my left foot is the issue now so I make sure to be somewhat stoned when I skate. I’ve skated recently sober and I definitely felt like I was skateboarding better but getting mad stoned before a session helps the pain so much.

it was regular, quick ups to gap to 50-50 on a tall flatbar. kerry getz did quick ups to gap to lipslide on it in photosynthesis. he wasn't on crack though.

With the legal status of the herb changing in many parts of the world, I'm curious how many pro skaters smoke compared to before. It used to be assumed if you were a skater you partook. I can't count the number of times I have been approached by total strangers who don't even skate looking for weed. Not just at the skatepark either, just randomly skating down the street or at some lame local spot. They were usually adults '20-'30s and I was still a teenager... Pretty awkward to think of now honestly.

Rumors that he still does cocaine or that he used to? He's gone on the record about abusing pills and having to go to rehab so to hear he was also doing coke back in the day wouldn't be shocking and wouldn't change how I view him.

After I moved to Oregon in 03, they opened a shop in Olymipa WA called Mango Chutney. I stopped there once on my way up to Seattle. They had like ten decks, a rack of t-shirts, and a couple hoodies. At the time I just thought, "well, they're a new shop trying to get things going. Whatever." Fast forward a but and a couple hockey bags of weed got found stashed under the ramps at a beloved park in Wisconsin. I think two people went to jail over that. At least the park is still there, and I still have my Northern jersey and videos.

It's well-known that many pro skaters smoke weed. Bob Burnquist is open about it and uses it for medical reasons. Brandon Westgate has a laid-back style and smokes, too. Jake Brown and Dustin Dollin have talked about weed in interviews. Skating culture is pretty relaxed, and weed is part of it for many. I also smoke weed through Sudjudza (https://sudjudza.com/) vapes for medical reasons. Not all skaters smoke, though, and it doesn't affect their skill or dedication. It's just about personal choice and lifestyle.

Oh come on, it's no news that this culture has historically had a more relaxed attitude towards cannabis use compared to many other sports. A bunch of pro skaters like Tony Hawk, Rob Dyrdek, and Bam Margera have been open about enjoying it. It's kind of a part of the culture for some, you know? By the way, if you're into alternative ways to unwind, I've found vaping really helps me relax after a good skate session.
