Title: Bones bushing snapping and popping
Post by: FUBAR on March 13, 2021, 02:09:14 PM
I put some mediums in my new trucks and when I stand on the board they snap and pop. Weird. They aren’t frozen. Does this happen to anyone else?

Yes it goes away after a session or two. After that they only squeak  :D

I give it 1.5 sessions before the plastic cone gives out.

If you're talking about the clicking sound, it's the black washer making contact with the kingpin threads. It'll go away in time.

Yes, clicking is a good way to describe it. It will be cool when it goes away...kind of annoying.

yes, they break easily. The hard ones last a little longer, but not much longer.

I love the turning but really don't want to deal with this anymore, considering how expensive they are.

Any alternatives? I'm about to try indy top bushings in my thunders.

I skate Indy mediums in my thunders. Top and bottom bushing. They feel great!

I think Thunder baseplates are just the wrong shape to work with Bones bushings. The plastic on the bottom bushing always hangs over the edge of the metal. I've cracked 2 sets this way before switching away from Thunder.

I have a collection of Bones bushing flat washers and I swear some do better at not clicking than others. It's worse than pivot cup squeak.

I skate Indy mediums in my thunders. Top and bottom bushing. They feel great!

The bottom indy bushing seems to be way too big for my thunders. 148 titanium lights, 52mm

It's always the top one for me, the bottom one keeps going strong. I'm not using a bottom washer btw.

Bones medium

Before I put them in I wax the yellow rims of the bushings and the flat washers if I use them

I just put some wax shavings on a plate and rub them into it, put some wax shavings in the pivot cups why I'm at it
And my trucks go silent..

Might sound like a lil much but it works for me.

I will have to try that. It’s funny because it happens only for the first minute or so I’m on the board. It’s like they warm up or something and then it’s nice and quiet.

You guys destroy your bones medium in ONE session? What the hell. I’ve had mine for a year, no problem. Really curious why yours die so fast.

Put in your cone style top washer back on, don't use the flat one they give you. clicking will disappear.
Also, I used to switch out bushing too. It's all a gimmick i run the stock Indy ones now just fine.
