I went through more pairs of Penny 2's than any other shoe I've ever skated.I still have one pair of them new in the box stashed away.
Tom deserves a cheque and I hope he's getting it but I don't like watching his current footage, just kind of bums me out.
It feels awful to admit it and I understand time is cruel to us all but I'm steadfast in my opinion that no one has ever looked as natural on a skateboard as prime Penny, seeing him stiff in his movements like the rest of us is upsetting.

Agreed that his present day footage is a bitter pill to swallow, those arms are so stiff and lookin like Frankenstein, but the man is a living breathing deity bumbling around this planet, we are blessed and must honor him.

I like newer Penny clips. He's still just cruising around loving skateboarding. But compared to guys that are the same age like Reynolds, Ellington, Rowley etc. who still look great on a board I can definitely see why people are bummed considering his past effortlessness and fluidity. I'd like to see just one more official part from him.

Two weeks ago on the 9 Club experience when they did the Steezus shoe segment about the eS Koston 1’s, Kelly showed Steezus something on his phone. I’m assuming it was some type of Koston inspired model they’re working on. But maybe it was a Tom Penny shoe? Who knows.

Here's some randomly captured 2021 Chilean skatepark footage, and I genuinely think that he looks good here. I've always felt that despite being the gold standard, his kickflips and frontside flips have still always been overly emphasized in talk citing what makes him so special. That said, the f/s flip to flat was flawless.

I liked that a lot I’m also one of the few on here that likes his really sorry part. Especially the fact that he got a trick of cracked out Guy in there. Also to the dude that said the Penny one is a better looking shoe I 100% agree. Especially since back in the day I had brown tx 1s and my homie had brown Penny 1s.

I was at this contest and saw the tricks over the pyramid first hand. It was after the contest that Tom didn’t qualify for just as the vert contest was starting up. It happened in about 30 min.
In the vert contest you can see me just below the the small es banner at around 7:10. I’m the redhead in the orange polo shirt watching Andy McDonald’s run from the flat of the ramp area.

yeah i would say those guys you named are all definintely outliers, some of the greatest people to ever ride skateboards + have been in the industry + in cali the entire time. pretty different circumstances. i will agree tom was also one of the greatest to ever ride a board too, you are asking for a lot of stars to align for him to be still shredding like reynolds somehow still does. you dont know what kind of injuries that guy has too.
to even be skating like tom does at 44 is like 2000x what any normal human is doing at that age, i have not seen anyone fs flip a set like that over 40 lol

Penny is without a doubt my favorite skateboarder, ever, but unfortunately there is a very long list of people in his peer/age group who are looking infinitely better than him on a board in 2021. Dude really fried himself, sadly. That being said I’m grateful for any and all footage of him. He’s the actual GOAT.

Skateboarding was the farthest from even thinking about skating in mid life when it was anti everything underground and a few years at best. Dude still has one of the best styles and legacies, as far as all the fanfare goes y'all can keep it as long as he's pushing around he's golden in my book

He seems pretty savant to me, obviously on a skateboard, but there’s also stories from Theo hand of him saying Tom is fluent in multiple languages, picking them all up with ease while traveling, etc. and his manner of speech is pretty on par with that as well. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration when Rowley says in menikmati “he’s off in his own little Penny world”. Dude is just out there, genuinely on a different level, but then you add heavy substance abuse into the mix and shit gets dicey real quick, so not surprising he has someone helping him with his day to day affairs.

I can’t believe people are complaining about Penny not skating at a top tier level at his age. Yes there are like 5 pros from that era that still skate at a high level. But he can obviously still do a lot of tricks might be stiff and old looking but he’s still got it for someone his age. Let the man have fun skating it’s cool that he even wants to jump in his board nowadays. If he ends up with some good sponsors it be a great move for the companies that back him from a marketing stand point.

He is certainly on the spectrum and it is well known in UK about his very rough childhood. Mix these with becoming a pro skater, travelling across the world non stop from young age and substance abuse and you have TP.

I have no facts to add but I imagine it's a little exaggerated. You miss a few demos, flights etc and your sponsor says "you're costing us a lot of money, either we give you a minder to make sure you meet your obligations, or you're of"
