holy shit bless
took me back to the days when i would ignore my teachers because i was too busy picking out my next dream complete that i would certainly never purchase
-
Checked out the back to school 2001 CCS remember those days just staring at all the decks.
-
Peeped the winter 94 catalog. Was shocked to see a SLAP graphic on a Geoff Rowley board.

I think that this was part of a "kiss ass" series Flip made right after moving to the States. You can see the other boards with magazine logo graphics.
-
I believe you're correct on that one. Totally forgot about that series.
-
Sick dude, thanks for sharing
-
damn. the original girl bar series decks. fuckin wish this was a catalog i could actually purchase from so badly haha. good post.
-
Good shit here. Looking back at the mid 90's era ones was struck by the fact they weren't stocking World Industries when they were on top.
-
Damn, this is sick. ThaNKS FOR POSTING

You’ll notice they do carry some of their apparel though. From what I remember World was exclusively sold through one distributor, I think Eastern, could be wrong though.

Damn, this is incredible! I still have one of those snow skate things from the Winter 2001 catalogue in my parents' basement.
I was just reminiscing with someone about back in the early 2000's when DC started making size 15's. Now Nike is the only company making cupsole size 15's and you have to wait for the stupid dunk raffle :'(
-
Dude thanks so much for sharing these links! This really takes me back :D
Also… inspiration for Cariuma logo (rotated 90 degrees)?

Some of those pre early 2000s pant selections would make a killing today.
-
Back in the days when I was young I'm not a kid anymore
But some days I sit and wish I was a kid again
Thanks for this, dude. Takes me back to looking through my cousin's catalogs back in the day. And look at those board sizes...
-
Full on nostalgia boner from that shit.
Some thoughts that came to mind:
Some of those pre early 2000s pant selections would make a killing today.
Adrenalin was a super dope company.
Ipath Cats were the shit.
Shorty´s could maybe relaunch succesfully if they focused on making backpacks exclusively.
The 2003 and 2011 catalogs are a lot worse than the pre 2000s (but that might be just me because that was my personal golden era).
edit: Even if the shitty company Airwalk is nowadays would be able to make Jason Lees somehow, I´d still buy 10 pairs of them. Same goes if DC somehow could relaunch the Rick Howard shoe. Not that any of that will ever happen.

Instead of the post adio hawk shoes Tony should of bought airwalk with Jason Lee and made the jlee and first Tony hawk shoes. Altho Jason at that time would probably involve Berra/Berrics and it would become some alternate version of cariumass

So good. It's crazy the jump from 91 to 94. So many names I've never heard of. I'm having a filed day with all this. Oh and I totally get the hype over the Vans Mike Carroll shoe now! Drooling over them!!
-
Totally forgot that Osiris made a D3 snowboard boot.
-
Wow. Winter 2001 really took me back.
And all those pants would fit right into a Winter 2022 catalog.

Trendwatch 2022!

The uploads are credited to "origamirobot". Wonder if they are on SLAP? Really appreciate these.

Damn this is very sick. Thanks for sharing. I was thinking awhile ago that it would be sick to set up a permanent place/site with proper organization where people could upload stuff like this and it was easy to scroll through by year, by brand, etc. I have some really old DC, I-Path, and eS catalogs, and I'm sure eventually someone could compile most of the catalogs brands have put out in some form or another. Good idea, I'm not gonna be the one to do it, but it's a good idea.
Anyway, first one I clicked on was Fall 1994, and noticed the picture of the Etnies Sals. I knew they were a very early version because they have an extra ollie guard and no rubber patch, but none of the ones pictured have a 23 on the heel.
Does anyone know if this was a version that ever existed? I don't remember ever seeing Sals without the 23. Maybe these were samples or something like that?
-
Thanks for these, super sick to see.
Anyone by any chance have the crailtap 2003 catalog - I think would be Wallride #06? Trying to find my first board!
-
I love shit like this. I'm going to skim through them all in chronological order to see how trends changed, I find that kinda thing really interesting.
Maddest thing I've seen so far is a pair of Accel's made with kevlar!
-
Been looking at these every chance I get. The summer (and fall) 1996 catalogs bring back so many memories as that is when I got my first board that wasn't a hand me down. I loved the Alien Workshop canvas jeans and had a couple pairs.
Also, I never realized was how wide boards still were in 1993. I always kind of assumed everything was down to 7.5" by then but most of the summer 1993 catalog is 8"-8.5" football/egg shapes.

I had the Kevlar Accels! The Kevlar didn't do shit.
I loved the Alien Workshop canvas jeans and had a couple pairs.
I had those Alien canvas jeans too! They were so sick. Pretty sure I ordered them from that exact catalog too because I got my second pro board from CCS, an Alien Workshop Believe slick. Loved those jeans so much but then at some point got red Sal 23s with black sole for $25 from an auction for a bike shop that was going out of business and remember feeling like those red shoes with the tan canvas jeans was a super ugly combo and being embarrassed when I wore it.

I think that's a sick combo but I could see not being into it. I had the jeans in tan but also in navy. I went to a catholic school and was able to get away with wearing them on the regs because they somehow didn't read to the administrators as jeans.
Also funny to mention the Kevlar. I had terrible Ollie hole disease as a kid because I was the Ollie boy in my crew (IYKYK) and convinced my irate mother that those would solve the problem. They did not.

I worked at CCS from 98-99 and 2000-2001. Was there in fact on 9/11.
For a young skater it was a great job. Discounts on all product, got to see everything way before it was out, video premieres, etc. I still remember finding out that the whole team's info was in the database and looking up the home address for Heath, Rick Howard, and a bunch of other team members. There were actually a lot of cool girls that worked there (including one future porn star) and most everyone was fairly chill if you could handle orders properly. In the evenings when calls would get sparse it was not uncommon for some randos to call up and people would just shoot the shit for a long time with callers. When I started in 98 Alien Workshop decks were the biggest seller and had been for years, but then Flame Boy and Wet Willy came along and became the new champs. Kids loved those boards so much, it was like Bugs Bunny had a signature model or something.
Ultimately an online marketing company called Alloy bought CCS in 2000 and for awhile it seemed like things were going to stay as they were, despite how hyped the company was on the purchase (https://skateboarding.transworld.net/news/alloy-acquires-ccs/) and CCS' ability to connect them to "Generation Y boys."
Matt Diamond, Alloy’s cofounder and CEO, recently stated in a press release that “CCS is hands-down the premier direct marketer to Generation Y boys. The effective multi-channel distribution model that CCS uses to capture this market is highly complementary with Alloy’s strategy and should add significantly to our financial performance and future profitability. We plan to leverage the CCS conduit to Generation Y boys to drive both merchandise and sponsorship revenues.”
But then they decided to take over everything in 2002 if I'm remembering correctly and moved the call center, which ultimately lead to a number of former employees/investors starting skate warehouse with the same infrastructure, location, etc.
I don't think I looked at any of the catalogs after this move, but I wouldn't be surprised if the art direction, etc. changed a bit in the '02/03 era. Rad to see this stuff pop up again and it brings back a lot of memories.

I think I am going to have to allocate extra time to delve into this one.
Might be there for a while...

would love this, like a skate.ly 2.0 for gear. it could be subscription based, i would pay a monthly fee for it, i’m sure there are enough nerds from “shoes & gear” who could keep it afloat.
-
I think that's a sick combo but I could see not being into it.
Yeah I could see someone rocking it nowadays and think it looked alright, but you know how it is when you're young and insecure and trying to fit in. I felt like it was the goofiest look ever and felt super self conscious when I wore it. But also back then you only have so many pairs of shoes and pants so it was inevitable.
-
Thank you for sharing. I looking at winter 1994 for example. There are some real gold hidden there. Fred Gall AWS. Steven Cales pro board from 60/40
-
@manysnakes Asking about old deck catalogs, this might be of interest.

CCS just posted the 1987 California Cheap Skates / California Surf Style catalog to their blog:

Some classic graphics in this one.

It's odd in the 1991 1993 catalogues that there's barley a single World distributed item.
-
thanks for sharing. i loved these and the TWS buyer's guides so much, used to kill a lot of time reading them in class. i grew up in a town where the shops were backed by certain distributors and only really cared the brands from said distributors. I only ever really saw shorty's/toy machine/zero when my family would go on trips across the border, and we also didn't have internet until around 2002 at our house so the buyer's guides/catalogs were legendary for me.
those back to school trips to the states were actually so dope. zumiez used to have some crazy deals like 3 tees for $35 or a pro setup for $59.99. the prices were astronomically lower than the prices I was paying for shit in canada.
-
Sweet! Thanks for the link. I was able to find my first “real” skateboard complete from the Back to School 2000 catalog
