I’m not sure what video you’re referring to, but I know they had to temporarily use a different factory for MOB during the pandemic. That was for a short time though. It’s been back to normal for over a year now. I wonder if he got some pandemic MOB.
Also, for everyone talking about what distribution ACE, Uma, and now Pepper is out of, they’re called Mesa.

I just got a free sheet of Miles with my Heroin symmetrical egg. Will grip another board with it to test it out for sure and I’ll test out Pepper grip if it’s available where I buy my stuff but I’m a sucker who’ll try almost anything. I even tried the stupid Nike x Jessup NBD Ultragrip, which was terrible. So far the only grip worth buying IMO is the normal Jessup Ultragrip. Best grip I’ve ever had by far.

It’s being sold on uma and ace online store 2 sheets for $15. So not much difference if you have to buy grip it’s typical $5-7 around me. So $7.50 a sheet. Thinking about getting some but don’t want to pay shipping on grip

I love Miles too, so stocked up on it when it was on Black Friday sale. Coming from Mob it felt similar to Jessup but the grit stayed resilient and grippy throughout the life of the board. It also has a pretty rainbow-esque sheen when the sun hits it right, not that it matters though. Wonder if Jessup Ultra is comparable.

I use mob as much as I want to use something else. Mob works best for me. jessup ultra was grippier than normal jessup. Easy to cut like normal jessup but still lost grip quickly and got the bald spots on edges where there was no grip like normal jessup does for me. Mob loses grip and feels like new jessup. If you go through boards quickly I can’t see it being an issue. But it’s worth a try. I enjoyed ultra as a Keene t in between until the bald edges and loss of grip happened but maybe I had a bad sheet

i'm genuinely surprised at how interested in griptape people are. i really don't feel like i've ever been affected by any grip i've skated other than one time when i was like 11 and had to buy some unbranded blue grip from a surf shop, it's backing was white and all the grit fell off in a few weeks.

grip-tape seems pretty simple in terms of manufacturing (they dont have to make seasonal drops like clothing, dont need a huge warehouse space since its just sheets, probably cost less than a dollar per sheet so low startup costs, etc.), and they have the clout for local shops to work with em

For me Jessup Ultragrip lasts a lot longer than Mob, like 3+ times as long. I skate a lot of spots with really fine sand/dust and that just kills all other grips fast with me shuffling about so much.

I wouldn't say I'm a nut about grip like some people are about trucks/bearings, I do tend to steer clear from mob but I think thats just the older dudes at the local in my head. I'm more so curious whats up with so many new grip company's starting with huge dudes. It's weird to me that someone would even want to try and make more competition in a market that's product is pretty much handed out for free or one or the other mob, jessup, shake junt.... Idk, same as bolt company's everyone and their dog has bolt company starting now...

Black pepper has some interesting properties. Caryophellene is a terpene shared by it and some strains of weed that a lot of people find sedating or painkilling like gorilla glue and GMO have high levels of it so I could see it mellowing out a racy, overly stimulating strain that way. Piperidine is also really wild, you can make a bunch of crazy shit from it and there's something in there that affects how certain drugs are absorbed and transported across the blood brain barrier but its been a long time since I read up on it and I'm baked so I don't remember the specifics.
I'll give this stuff a shot if I see it at the shop. I always support cards and I like trying new shit.
Whoever asked about miles, it's good grip but the plastic razor is useless. Its surprisingly tough and has a nice, jessup-esque feel. Not too rough but still sticky. It also sparkles in the sun which is weird, only other grip I've had that did that was flypaper. It feels great to cut too, which is really the most important thing about grip.

I'm kinda into the 9.5 width. If you like to ride big bois and pops you often wind up with not quite enough. Extra half inch makes it so shops only have to order one product instead of two as well.

So just as a little update, Skate Warehouse e-mailed me again and said I wasn't allowed to buy 10 sheets of grip. That was in fact TOO MUCH Pepper for one individual and I must be a reseller. So they forced me to lower the order to 2 sheets. wtf even skate warehouse is cops these days.
What the fuck does it matter to them what your gonna do with your 10 sheets of pepper, not chill skate warehouse, not chill at all, I haven’t bought from an online store front in years but if and when I have to I won’t be going to skate warehouse, putting a fucking cap on griptape, wack, wack all around

This explains why my order for 2 sets of the same wheel was marked pending when I first confirmed it. At the time, I thought maybe they just didn't have the stock in their warehouse yet which I thought was kinda iffy. Next time I checked they were confirmed so they must have some kind of quantity alerts build into their ordering system. I back it.

Smoked paprika is one of my favorite seasonings and I think all of us should start a brand based on smoked paprika that also makes grip. Pepper is everywhere, no need to single it out really.
Also a key ingredient in that Shaksuka I’ve been pushing in the Neen/raw eggs thread.

I'll check out that recipe. When I made shakshuka, I overpowered it with cumin and cilantro, and I felt like I was eating some kind of scented candle for breakfast. That sophisticated smokiness would have done better, imo.

Put some on a new board. When I noticed it was perforated I was bummed, because I don't like Mob that much.
It felt pretty gritty. I usually sand down both sides of my nose, for my flippies. I've only skated it a couple times. I definitely would consider riding with it again.
Maybe I had the bad batch of MOB that I heard was released in the first or so year of the pandemic, but I did not like it at all. I also skated a board that I hated the shape of. Would only try again if I had no other choice

one time I bought nutmeg then I added a bunch of what I thought was cumin but it was the nutmeg. And I added way to much. That description is perfect, it tasted like I was eating incense covered food. I threw the rest of the food out and threw all the nutmeg out so it would never happen again.

I tried some. Grippier than jessup, imo. Went on easy enough, I’m trash at gripping boards. New shoes and the new grip, sucked. I am too conditioned to jessup, I think. I’d like to skate mob, but I can’t figure it out. My ‘flick’ is too shitty to work with mob or something.
I stopped skating the board with pepper grip, just because I like a different setup I have better, grip wasn’t a factor in that choice.

My wife freaked out yesterday. She found this Chinese condiment that she loves (Waipa), in a vegan version. A friend introduced her to to the regular stuff years ago (which she said was a game-changer for cooking) and since she started seeing me, she always thought cooking would be so much easier if there was a vegan version. It just came out at the beginning of the month.
So we went home and she whipped up some ramen for everyone.
Of course, I like some white pepper with mine, and I gotta say, it was really good.

I work with sandpaper constantly and have every grip from 40 to 800 in my shop. Mob is 60 grit and Jessup feels about 80. Pepper felt like 80 as well. I could be completely wrong but this is the highly scientific test of me touching and looking at them.
I’ve got one sheet left. I dunno if it cursed my last deck.

The lower the number the grippier it is?
Yeah the lower the number the. rougher it is. The higher number the smoother it is. The number is like the size of the grit on the paper or the amount of particles to fill an area. Kinda like thread counts on sheets. I may be wrong about this.

40-60 is like for stripping material off the surface easily and it usually leaves fairly deep marks on hardwood. 80 less so but same general purpose. 100 starts getting smoother and once you get over 180 it feels extremely smooth and is generally for polishing and finishing.
Prob why Mob is a pain in the ass to grip with but also sticks really well. I think Grizzly is around 100 it felt really slippery.

Bump. I love this grip. Always been a regular Jessup or Jessup Ultra guy, but I dig this stuff. Has a bit of a sheen to it when the light hits it but doesn't bug my OCD too bad. One random thing about it, not sure if it's easy to remove grip with other brands but one of my boards recently that had Pepper on it, got really chewed up and filthy at this one spot. I was bored so I took a blade and dug underneath just on the edge then just ripped the whole sheet off pretty easily in like 2-3 big pieces. Then regripped on top of the bolts and it revitalized my board and got me stoked. Never gripped over the bolts before but I dig it. Lastly, this grip slices like pure butter, especially with a brand new blade.

Just set up a deck with pepper recently. Reminds me of black magic grip but it’s thicker and cuts a lot better. Would buy again.

I think I’m a pepper guy now. I’ve had it on for a couple months now. It’s dirty has hell from dusty spots. But it isn’t balding like jessup or myself and doesn’t cancel my flick like mob sometimes does.

I've been skating it on my current deck and it doesn't feel that grippy to me whenever I skate in Vans; it does feels more grippy with my Nike Blazers tho. My experience with Pepper is that it feels similar to Jessup in terms of grippiness. I can say that I really enjoyed cutting the grip and I kinda like the glittery look. I'm gonna stick to Mob or Jessup Ultra tho

At this point I can’t go back to anything but pepper. I was a mob guy. Started using pepper. It’s the perfect in between of mob and jessup. And at this point I just buy pepper when I need to get free shipping from online stores. cause my local don’t have pepper and I can’t go back to mob or jessup now
