Someone break down the Roman Numeral system found etched into the front truck area on top of DLX decks. Which number matches which concave?

I: steep
II: kinda steep
III: kinda mellow
IV: mellow

concaves are pressed into stacks of 4 boards
the number indicates the boards position in that stack
1 is at the top, so it gets the full concave from the mold
4 is at the bottom, getting the least amount of concave from the mold

Mold stacks at BBS woodshop take four boards at a time, so they are marked as such, I being the top, IV being the bottom.
Normally I would go with the simple I being the steepest or at least having the most concave and IV having the least concave, but a few I have had recently don't quite add up to that, even though for the most part, it is almost always true.
Guessing it could also have something to do with the presses, eg if some presses were more mellow than others, the full stack of four decks would be more mellow overall than other stacks, which could also mean the I of a mellow stack is flatter than a IV from a normal stack.
Without trying to get too crazy with it all, there are differences, but none so much that it would mean one board is completely different from another, as they both still have the same shape, same concave, same kicks, with some being overall a couple of degrees steeper than others.

Interestingly, the Eagle Huffer I just got doesn’t have a numeral stamped into the top. Are those pressed individually or did they just forget the stamp?

interesting, i wonder if they do single presses for certain boards over there ever? but also, could just be a forgotten stamp

FWIW, I’ve had a number of Deluxe decks that didn’t have the number, just a dimple.
No idea why it’s a “sometimes” thing.
Perhaps we can summon some of the erudite DLX intelligentsia that cohabitate this series of 0s & 1s with us, and ask them what even is roman numerals these days, and why occasional dimple?
I mostly like the IIs & IIIs, by the way (not that anybody asked.)

Ha yeah that totally sounds like Frank with a Stock Report.
What is funny is that some other BBS boards with other brand graphics have had the roman numerals on them, so somewhere along the way, some boards, or some batches could have easily been mixed up, with some allocated to DLX going elsewhere and some for others going to be DLX brands, but as they are all printed in house at BBS, it is something that could happen, especially more so round the pandemic rush and other things going on at the present.
The BBS standard board mark is always just the dimple or wider dot around the front bolt area, but it is an either or for roman numeral or dot and not both.
* I like the IV the most, but can still ride any of them, under the right circumstances.

I've heard its the position in the pallet when shipped. The sheer volume of boards they produce and ship in one pallet leads to there being lot of weight on the decks on the bottom, which kind of flattens the concave. Hence 1 will have steeper concave than a 5.

BBS presses 4 boards at a time. Roman numerals I-IV indicate top to bottom on the press. The difference between I and II is very little, the difference between II and III is just a little more. The biggest difference is between III and IV with IV being the mellowest.

Something to consider is it’s based on that particular run so two II’s can be totally different.
