i've been visiting that parking lot almost yearly since i was in high school, back when there were just a few shitty wooden ramps. it's crazy to me that it's now a recognizable destination skatepark. can confirm that it's just as fun as it looks on the internet.
anyway this part and ryan on sci fi got me giddy

Ryan Lay is one of the most criminally underrated pros out. It's crazy to me that he doesn't have a pro shoe or even a proper shoe sponsor from what I can tell (not sure if he's fully on Vans, I didn't see him on their site). So fucking stoked to see him as the first pro for Sci Fi!
Now if they give Arin a pro board, they'd be the perfect company.

Wasn't completely blown away with the editing but that just says a lot about how cool the brand is: expectations were high and they didn't miss by much. Obviously skating was sick and dude is the best!

Great stuff from Ryan and great edit from Matt King. Only the first edit for Sci-Fi and it feels more grounded image wise than most companies already.

Unfortunately Ryan won’t ever be SOTY because he has values and the balls to stick to them like calling out 1010 and putting his time into skating new spots in other countries and doing work for his community and generally being persistently expressive about social and economic justice not just reposting generic stuff whenever something is in the news.

I don’t even need much Jerry footage just like 2 min similar to the guest tricks/IG footage he’s had here and there. I like that he’s taking the time to find good and interesting riders and just keeping his brand his. He has enough of a reputation and connections to probably snatch up many riders over the past few years but didn’t feel the need which is cool.

Back in 2008 my friend had a brand new set of silver Krux. I swapped him a 6 pack for them.
I put my bones bushings in them and continued to have one of the best skates I’d had in ages. I think they are a fuxking cool truck. I just didn’t like the beer opener hole much.
I’m saying that to say this… give Ryan Lay at least a colour way on Vans. At least. Dude is the best.
