Am I the only one that noticed that Transworld hasn't put an actual skate video on their YouTube channel in over 6 months? And Im talking about full skate videos not compilations of instagram clips and trowback clips which is all they seem to post now. I feel like a few years ago they were putting out tons of these independent small-time skate videos, videos that looked like a group of guys put a lot of time and effort into. It was like every week they were showcasing some new independent skate video from smaller cities/towns or internationally that would otherwise be hard to find. And they were usually really good. It sucks cus those are the only kind of skate videos that I like to watch anymore. Where do people go to find smaller more local skate videos on YouTube I really cant seem to find them anymore.

I'm curious to what video content Closer is going to be putting out.

'Skatenerd' is my favorite TWS segment. I hope it'll live on in some form or be adopted by another outlet that can do it well.
(I've never gone to the UWK trivia nights but it sounds right up my alley :D)

Nah bro remember Sk8Mafia Saturdays? Good times
-
they've kinda sucked for a while now my g
it happened around the same time the ride channel also started sucking. i really miss the ride channel bc i used to really dig their "skate <city_name>" series they used to do. i really hope somebody decides to make an updated version of that series now that its almost a decade old. i also grew up on their trick tips, they were so well produced

Whole thing is pretty weird as the Transworld site is still kinda running, but I have no idea who runs it. (I think I may have asked the same previously, but can't remember the answer).
But there's a lot of great content there that should be saved before someone pulls the plug on what's left of Transworld.
What's also weird, is that after Skateboarder got canned, some of their online content got transferred to Men's Journal website. So you can find stuff like this there under "Adventure"... https://www.mensjournal.com/adventure/ubcardiel/
(Fun fact: the Skateboarder subscribers got Men's Journals in their mailbox when the mag got cancelled without further notice)
While I was looking at stuff on TWS website, their media kit from 2020 had a "History of Transworld Skateboarding 1983-2019" coming....

One related question:
Does anyone have those 3 digital issues of Skateboarder that came out before they were goner? If so, hit me with a DL link!

I think it's called Unity now
-
transworld pretty much sucked after First Love. Free Your Mind was the last good TWS Video. I think that Jason Hernandez guy kind of killed it, seems like it went downhill once he came on. Those videos werent terrible by any means they just were not as amazing as the ones that came out before. Feedback to Free Your Mind was a Beast run.
Was thinking too the other day how the main 4 parts in Modus all ended up on Yeah Right! (MJ, Biebel, Carroll, BA)

google "transworld skateboarding best indie video readers' choice". there are lists for 2014-2017
also https://www.skatevideosite.com/ and use the categories on the side for "independent", "crew" or by year (only goes back to 2020)

Ya. They usually announce it last minute, way too late to get days off work to get there from central CA and then drive back hungover. They have livestreamed a couple and I enjoyed that despite the chaos. Usually some ex-TWS staffers win it.

You may be into what Benjamin Deberdt and I do with Live Skateboard Media: https://liveskateboardmedia.com/en
Activity is on and off, but there is a lot of content. I'm aware the format of the website is a bit antiquated and so you need to click on the posts to read the complete interviews and contents when there are some.
If unaware of it, you should also follow Solo Skate Mag. And VHS Mag is great.

The new content may suck but the TWS Vault series is a great look back at the 2000s clips, huge nostalgia trip watching Omar Salazar, Janoski, Molinar, Pat Duffy, Chany, Welsh, Leaper etc get their clips for the videos at the time.
