A cover and a thrasher part?
That’s a SOTY right there boys
-
Beyond fucking stoked for this. Actual Fred gall soty incoming? A man can dream.
As an aside, I’ve been wondering if we can start doing something like putting a tag or something in the title of threads to indicate when the video the thread is about is upcoming/isn’t live in the thread yet.
-
I’m trying to go.
If anyone from Boston or surrounding area is going and can let me in the van I’ll bring unsalted peanuts
coffee and nicotine gum.
Perhaps some weed if I’m able to sell this vintage vinyl I just inherited.
-
Thrasher did a super limited amount of tees/hoods of Fred's '95 cover (sw 5-0 Hubba Hideout) that will be available at a handful of shops in the tri-state area and released when the vid drops.

That is fantastic news, thank you! Yeah Freddy!!!
-
I hope he will do some real street lines and not just diy spots. I know it's a lot to hope for from an older skateboarder.

Half cab Gall in Philly/ east coast era is my favorite era of his skating.

SOTY
-
Hell yeah! Can't wait.
-
it'd be a great rebuke to succiu if Freddy brought that shit home

I hope this will be like his Glass Carousel

my first exposure to fred was 'mosaic'. i was always blown away by how amazing he was so far before that and in such a different style...

Oh shit, I wonder if Cincy will see any of them
-
Kinda misleading title lol I was so hyped when I read it
Anyways can't wait to see it!!
-
Not mentioned in the thread yet but Freddy's part will be on Thrasher this Friday, 7/29.
Last full part from Fred was 7 years ago, and he personally told me he was "coming in HOT on this one", so I can't wait.

Ya all ready for the part of the year? Anyone knows when it goes online? I caaan't wait.
-
Fuck it's 5am at highspeed, nobody is awake to post this yet
-
Just rolled the timezone dice and went to Thrasher and I was sadly greeted by some Element x Something video. Where is this Fred Gall part at?
-
Ugh I’m sure it’ll be some 3/5pm Cali time situation
NEED GALL
-
9am PT / 12pm ET is usually when these things get rolled out. Homies gotta get to the office so it's really pending any BART delays.

I know every trick can't be filmed great, but 5:33 deserved so much more
-
Absolute scenes for that blunt slide across and down the brick pyramid. Loved the shit outta that.
-
What a great gift on a Friday
-
I know every trick can't be filmed great, but 5:33 deserved so much more
Even the second angle is not the best. Otherwise SOTY.
-
Fuck yeah, great part Freddy! Stoked!
-
What a great gift on a Friday
-
Absolutely killed it
Deserves a better filmer, fisheye clips were borderline unnacceptable
-
Never seen him fakie FS flip on video before.
Still learning tricks at 43.
Fred does NJ Scum proud.
-
Holy fuck I didn't expect this level of skating, he absolutely killed it.
-
That oughta do it, folks.
-
Still learning at 43. So awesome. Nearly 30 years since the hubba sw 5-0!
-
I was honestly expecting to have to be a bit kind with my expectations about this as it's Fred and he's the best but fuck no, he legitimately killed it! That was such a good part, usual Fred antics combined with some stuff I've not seen him do before (switch tre on the bank was buttery). He needs a pro board, not on some legacy shit but because he's actually still good enough and I would buy the fuck out of that shit. FA just lost Tyshawn, get Fred on there and give this man his flowers and hopefully a nice big cheque that he'll spend on concrete and beer. Also, It's not even a meme now for Fred to be SOTY. Did he drop the biggest hammers or most tech stuff? No. But is he a guy in his mid 40s who loves skating so much that even without a pro board he's built several DIYs, skates all the time and has juts dropped a hammer of a part? Yes he is. This is the embodiment of skating for me and he'd be a deserving winner.
-
Exceeded all expectations, a true bank lord of the highest order.
-
FRED! Loved the tricks at the coned spot.
-
Absolute scenes for that blunt slide across and down the brick pyramid. Loved the shit outta that.
yeah that brick pyramid got me real good too, so good
-
Fred Gall went ultra hard for this part, Thrasher need to mate the right move and give this man the SOTY throphy
-
i love fred no matter what, but my expectations were muted, holy shit that blew me away. awesome in every way. 10/10
-
i hope i'm skating this good at 43 or 33
-
Switch Tail block was fierce af. Switch tre forward on the bank. I’m going rn to practice switch tre for like an little bit.
Shuv flip pivot in that bowl I don’t remember the name of.
Freddys skateboarding speaks to my soul. What I think is my soul. What an inspiration he is.
I hope Metal goes forever and ever.
Thrasher needs to go forever too.
I luv you all. Up the Skate Ponks
-
uncle freddy :,)
-
Fuck yeah. That was even better than I thought.
-
Goddamn can T-Funk and Fred share SOTY?
Did not expect this level of skating at all
-
Man....those spots. Shows he digs to find those.
A no real slow mo shots or lifestyle stuff. Just a full on part with a ton of footy.
-
he dropped it on my birthday because east coast legends have respect for each other like that
-
Fred Gall went ultra hard for this part, Thrasher need to mate the right move and give this man the SOTY throphy

Fred Gall
-
Did actually cried tears of joy
-
Jam packed with crust, it was much needed, thank you Fred!
-
Happy holidays yall
-
That was fucking great, will be on repeat for a while. Give this man the trophy! Fred Gall for lifetime SOTY!!!
-
Amazing. He really came through. And Sabbath cover also. Perfect. I just got back from a quick session before heading to work and watched this. My day is complete.
-
FRED GALL
I was tempering my expectations as some of his insta footy looked shaky and slow. Obviously he's getting older and so it's expected that he wouldn't be able to do as much but nah. Uncle Freddy totally surpassed my expectations. First time I got goose bumps from a video part in a long time. Freddy genuinely killed it. So hyped.
-
nollie into the rossevelt island bank at night is so fucked and it was thrown into the middle of the part! give this man SOTY
-
He needs a pro board, not on some legacy shit
give this man his flowers and hopefully a nice big cheque that he'll spend on concrete and beer.
He's had a board on Habitat this whole time and now is doing Metal Skateboards through Alien.
Also he's been sober for awhile now (might still smoke weed but pretty sure he doesn't drink).
Not hating, just informing. No room for hate on a celebratory occasion such as a bangin new Freddy part.

Looked like he was skating FA and Quasi for most of that part
-
I honestly got a little emotional - Gall's departure from alcoholism has been everything that Bam's isn't. A real feel good story for the last couple of years! Expectations got severely blown!
I would honestly love it if he got SOTY - it's for the skater of the year, not the one who scored the most point, and right now Gall is the skater of all time!
-
ALL HAIL THE KING!!!

SOTY

Captain crust back at it with another banger of a part. I watched this like 5 times already, seriously blown away by how hard Freddy went in.
-
part of the decade
soty confirmed

That was awesome and I didn't expect 5+ minutes of gnarly footage. I really liked those side rock n' roll moves.

Still got those kickflip back noseblunt reverts. Man is incredibly talented and driven. RIP to his mom as well.

Awesome part, love the vests too, soty etc.
-
Part was so good, I've seen people make this comparison but Fred really does embody the spirit of skateboarding. Getting a sesh with him at his DIY last winter was a top 5 moment of my years skating so far. Would be stoked to see him win SOTY or even just be in the running for it.
-
Man....those spots. Shows he digs to find those.
A no real slow mo shots or lifestyle stuff. Just a full on part with a ton of footy.
I think I recognized two spots (afro banks and con Ed) and everything else was original spots. And crusty as fuck.
-
Great work/edit Paul!
Wow it's everything I wanted, everything WE wanted 8.5 min of bliss...Lots of board flipping, sober Freddy is ripping at 43 some odd.
Loved that noseslide 180 transfer a that parking garage.
-
SOTY! Adidas - put the guy on and give him a damn shoe!
-

Yep.
Noticed the same. NBD?
-
One of the best street parts put out by a 40+. Who else in that range rips put out a street part of that caliber besides reynolds?
-
Absolute scenes for that blunt slide across and down the brick pyramid. Loved the shit outta that.
my jaw was locked open for a solid ten seconds after that, what a beautiful trick and a super solid video part from one of the greats
-
Idk if it's just my monitor, but it was a nice touch having a few clips that were really dim and hard to see like his Timecode part.
-
SOTY! Adidas - put the guy on and give him a damn shoe!
No! I want to only see the king of Half Cabs wearing Half Cabs. White Half Cabs on the switch tail block was exquisite.
-
Satisfied
-
It’d be a sick part for a new jack 20 year old. The fact that it’s Fred gall in his 40s, makes it exquisite. Favorite part in a long, long time.
-
At first I was like "good for him" Then he proceeded to melt my face off
#thumbsup

Fred came through for sure! After an obligatory Metal purchase online, I felt compelled to make a hearty chili and cornbread. Not out of necessity of course, but out of respect.
Best Friday in a long time
Tl;dr: I made chili and cornbread because of Fred's Thrasher part, which makes little to no sense
-
Just checked out the metal site, didn't know ben raybourne rode for them. I saw him a month ago at a kickflip contest in denver he was judging with clint walker, dee Ostrander, and eusheen.

I wanna know how the fuck this website hasn’t completely imploded yet. It’s a fuckin 8 and a half minute Fred Gall part I should be getting 404 page not found errors with a link to the part where it usually says to contact the admin. Slap’s letting me down
-
I am naming my first born Fred Gall, actually I am also legally changing my name to Fred Gall
-
Between the Hockey video and this in the same week it’s sick to see so much raw skating on really unusual and imperfect natural spots
“Perfect” spots like Lockwood or the courthouse are sick but there’s something relatable about footage on shit that looks like the spots you found around town growing up
Workingman’s Fred
-
So good. I was stoked when he came flying out of the back of that van! ;D
Hope Metal gets UK distribution, I want a board.
-
Just rewatched it on my telly. So many crazy spots.

thank you uncle freddy

Everyone loves Freddy, but that we really received
this part, nobody was asking, but everyone was dreaming about - is fucking unbelievable.
We all know deep in our heart that he still got it - and Fred is slaps skater of the hearts / year since forever - but the fact that he really deliver a part like this, is a pleasure and a present to the skateboard society.
Fred gall I am on my knees and praise you, King of Kings.
Step on my board today and skate a bank just to pay
respect to our finest man.

Good, but I could have certainly used more lines.
-
After watching that part for the 3rd time now (which I very rarely do), I like his tricks at the bank to tree stump the most. Such a rad spot and trick selection there.
Spots, tricks, music, everything rules.

-
Love you Fred. SOTY for real this year.
-
At 43 years young Frederick Gall absolutely killed it. Period.
He skated some of the crustiest spots I've ever seen put to film. In my opinion. Fred emulates everything that a Thrasher SOTY would embody: crust, gnar, and good tricks.
Oh yea and he skated to Sabbath. Freddy is a real one and deserves everything that may come his way. Including SOTY.
**Also someone else said it earlier. But my god would I buy a Fred Gall signature shoe from Adidas--I just hope the stupid German company would give him one.
-
Inspiring and completely satisfying. He's always been unstoppable on a skateboard and his harrowing journey makes this part even more of a testament to his love and dedication to skating. He's still got plenty of time too.

Garbage take. Fred went switch on Hubba before anyone in SF, in skateboarding that counts as extraordinary ability.
-
lol you can take that however you want. it wasnt meant to be offenseive. he has awlays been one of my favorite skaters. I realize how insane that move is i have been to the hubba myself and know how hard it is just to get on regular, let alone switch. way ahead of its time. but that is because he was very dedicated. i just dont think he was one of the most naturally athletic when you compare him to someone like Dashawn Jordan or Reese Forbes. he was always a bit bigger set like foy/frankie. he was very early on switch speed grinds so it looked a little stiffer in comparison to other people because they were only skating regular.
-

Yeah all that shit is wrong.
Skating switch on Hubba, let alone before anyone else (plus he isn't even from there, that's a huge deal) means extraordinary ability. SF heads were not doing that then and we can all agree the list of extraordinary people from there at that time is a long one. Can't front on Fred the man is gifted and you can save that athlete talk for the NBA thread.

That Quarter Snacks top 10 clip was the frickin beez kneez.

i just rewatched this a couple of days ago and then again yesterday. huge freddy fan & always love his stuff. i think initially i wanted more in some aspects or expected it, only because he’s the best & his story/getting sober/what ba was saying about his footage in his nine club… i was just so excited for this part for so long & kept eagerly waiting for it to randomly drop. first watch i loved it & was still stoked, i just felt like something was missing. upon rewatch i realize that it’s perfect and that i want to rewatch it regularly. i guess what i realized after all was that my only drawback is the filming of some tricks which really goes to show how much that matters in a part.
