Yes! Bobshirt videos are always so damn good.
-
that’s a hella clean front nosie
-
This shits making me cry.
Seeing these boards taking me back. The act of skateboarding was the only positive thing in my life as a kid. I was fucking abused daily daily.
I’m an unhappy mofo
Seeing the cardiel candy boards makes my heart smash in my chest.
I need one
-
Sorry about my negativity.
The label can bring that emotion out of me.
Kids today in skateboarding won’t understand what it was like in 91-92.
Skateboarding was like everything and the label was to me the top shit.
-
The Gino pic on the zigzag deck was incredibly hot.
-
Awesome interview as usual from Bobshirt.
Finally got the first issue of Closer on wednesday, so have had double doze of Lucero this week. The Chrome Ball interview there is really good too and it compliments this one perfectly!
-
Man, these are always so good. Grew up a fan of the label although it was in the late 90’s early 2000’s era and I remember those things felt so solid to me. I’ll always watch anything with lucero. Saw him and grosso at the vans park in HB years ago and was super stoked that those two still hung out and skated.
-
Too sick. Bobshirt is the best interviewer in the game. It's definitely a bs 180 nosegrind. You can see too much of the griptape for it to be a noseslide. Who shot it, RB or Meza? They must have talked about it at the time. Also they saw the other bails. I would bet 3 to 1 on bs 180 nosegrind.
-
Never really thought about it but if it were a 180 nosegrind wouldn't he just say. I feel like if you did 180 nosegrind and people said it was noseslide you might correct them but the noseslide and people say 180 nosegrind you might let it be a mystery.
Other points: he does another back 180 nosegrind in his part but completely differently (but that doesn't necessarily mean anything).
Were people really doing the fully pinched back 180 nosegrind back to regs like that at that time?
-
Didn’t he do back 180 ng in hot chocolate?

All of this.
Also, not that the audio was great, so it could be that, but no no grindy noise…

Skinnier than a shaka. That made me laugh

That first cardiel graphic and shape is fuckin' mint. Wanna cop the reissue for sure

Yes this was before my time but it looks sick.
Overall, another Bobshirt homerun.
-
Lucero is the man curb skating and wax OG.

The color scheme is sick… wouldn’t mind the candy board too..
Wonder if Lucero still has those Gino tapes. Would love to see some more of those skits with Keenan and Huf.
-
cardiel candy is legendary
-
Maybe I just haven’t been looking for it but I’ve never heard anyone say a bad thing about John. Seems like a genuinely good dude who deeply cares about skateboarding. Could listen to him talk all day.

Oh word I totally forgot I got a Closer as well. Hope it arrives soon.
The bonus Gino was excellent.
-
I loved his Madrid Jester back in the day, and of course the classic Schmitt graphics.
In case you need more Lucero or missed this:

Love Lucero. Gino seems like he’s in a great headspace.
-
it breaks my heart thinking about john losing jeff
this was great per usual - tim, thank you for the continuous efforts and inspirational/nerdy output
this type of content is what I only dreamed of as a kid
-
John and Black Label’s heyday was before my time, but the obvious love and pride he has for his company and the history of skateboarding is heartwarming. Great watch indeed.
-
Def want to get more Label boards after watching that. They've been putting out some great looking decks recently.
-
Yeah, I enjoyed the 90’s take because it was pretty easily overlooked with so much going on.
-
So dope.
Gino will always be my favorite.
Front nose, imo.
Glad to see both smiling and happy.
-
GIND
-
This was wonderful.
I never thought of Gino’s trick being anything else than a fs nose. Thinking back, people weren’t doing bs 180 nosegrinds back to straight like that back then.

my theory is he was trying bs 180 nose grind to regs but rolled away from the nose slide and just kept that instead.

Skinnier than a shaka. That made me laugh
I’ve used that like 3 times since I’ve seen this video

Another great one by bobshirt. I have been wanting to read the Lucero interview in Closer but haven't committed to subscribing. I'm sure chops nailed it.
