Have you ever tried rubber grip tape? In your experience, how good is it compared to a regular grip? Someone at the skatepark let me try theirs and I actually love it. It has a better flick and it doesn't fuck up your kicks. It kinda makes flipping the skateboard easier for me so I think I'll set up my next board with some rubber grip. What's your opinion, though? What are the pros and cons of rubber grip??

Only rubbery grip I’ve ever tried is the Jessup x Nike NBD grip and while it worked good when dry, it completely lost its grip when even slightly wet. Ruined my session and is downright dangerous. Fuck that shit. Took it off and decided to never fuck with such again.

Interesting.. since I live in a town that rains a lot, i probably shouldn't use it then, huh?

tried non-abrasive grip once, it was great when it's clean and dry.
when litte dust on it, your session is done. and it peels easily on the edge.
trade too much for not ripping your shoes.

.....Nah

There's a dude at the local park on it that rips really hard- super tech ledge god. He gets it free and said he likes it because the flick is consistent forever. And his shoes last years.

i tried a homie's board who had rubber grip and i didn't like it. its not for me since mob is my preference for grip. the homie had no issues skating it, so good for him. i think if you can get used to it and want to save your shoes, go for it!

Hard pass.
Jessup > anything

I bought a sheet on a whim once and I more or less liked it, but ultimately I decided that, after 30-odd years of skating, I was a little too set in my ways to stick with it. I think if you gave it to a little kid starting out and that was the only grip they ever knew, it would absolutely in no one negatively impact their skating.
I also think the industry will never, ever encourage its development or push it into the mainstream since it effectively nullifies the only part of skateboarding which makes any money - shoe sales.

I met a guy at a park who insisted I try his, I didn’t like it. It works, but it’s not as grippy as regular grip tape
