Just wanted to pay respect to a guy that imho has one of the best styles ever. Fun lines, surfy style, big pop. He was able to make really tall objects look easy and effortless to get over.

Always liked his Hokus Pokus stuff

donger is a funny name. it's a reference to sweet candles w/ molly ringwald, right?
gonz was wrote a story about some skaters from the 'ooh long dong'. i didn't know what to make of it.

One of the first Transworld mags I ever had there was a photo of Donger kickflipping over one of those swinging triangle bar gates that block off parking lots. Can't remember if it was from flat or out of a curb cut but it was massive. Wish I could track that down. His photos were always so great, with his braids trailing majestically behind him as he blasts over things that didn't even seem possible to me.

Legend.

Best straight ollies from flat I've ever seen. That dude popped like he had rockets in his heels.
-
Glad to see the love for him. Thanks for posting the additional videos, I don't think I've seen some of them. This isn't really a hot take, but I'd rather watch someone like Kien, with lines dripping with style, rather than just ledges getting hit over and over with increasing technical variation. But I guess that is the beauty of skateboarding, there is plenty of variety for everyone.
-
in retrospect, dude ripped hard and had his own lane. we didn't always like reese, donger, paulo deeznuts or huf when they'd just cruise and ollie but it aged better than a lot of the tech stuff we were titillated by.
remember big brother played kung fu music to some of his tricks? "hi-ya!"

I remember something like this and thinking it wasn't possible. I couldn't find the ad or photo but found a couple others that are super impressive. (After I posted I saw someone had the gif of the kickflip over the gate)

I couldn't fit all the photos into one thread. Look at his foot positioning for his kickflip, it doesn't look any different than mine for ollying. He's just incredible.

One last one.

So dope that they modeled a Street Fighter character after him.

IIRC there was a mag that had sequences of his skating in the 90s. Crazy amount of pop from flat. His board would practically go vertical to get the board up.

Does his Insta page still exist? He was still throwing up clips of himself boosting massive ollies last time I checked.
