Hi everyone,
for past 10 years I've skated only in DC Shoes (big fan of super suede). Every now and then I want to try some new models and then I came to slap to do some research.
Since useful information is scattered through different topics, I decided to start a new one which will be devoted to dc shoes, their sizing, boardfeel, durability,...
So from my experience :
Wes 1 and 2 - For me, almost identical shoe, 2s were more snug around the instep of the foot.
Sizing: TTS
+ Superior board feel
+ Very durable for vulc
+ Work flawlessly with FP insoles
+ Some said they were the only relevant competitor to Janoskis
- No padding
- After the whole day of skating my feet hurt like hell from all sides
Lynx OG - My favourite skate shoe of all time with the timeless silouete.
Sizing: as I have slightly wider feet I need to go half size up
+ Almost undestructible
+ Legendary status
+ Build quality
- Little to no boardfeel
- Long time to break in
- Doesn't work with any insole, probability of ankle rolls
- Not comfortable for the whole day of walking
Legacy OG
Sizing: TTS, but the toe box pushes on my toes(like I haven,t cut my nails for years), when I went half size up, shoe would comes off
+ Build quality
+ Boardfeel was good (definitely better then Lynx OG)
+ Compatible with FP insoles (3 mm)
- Bulky, not as beautiful as Lynx OG
Kalis S
Currently my favourite shoe to skate in, snug fit, like a sock
Sizing: TTS
+ Perfect example of modern skate shoe
+ Light
+ Good boardfeel for cupsole
+ Can use them without the laces
+ Compatible with FP insoles (3 or 5 mm)
- Sometimes my instep hurt because tongue is connected to sides of the shoe
- Don't like the insoles shoes came with
Really curious to try some new models for skating, thinking about Manteca, Kalis Lite, Metric or Lynx Zero.
Anyone have experience with them? I heard that the Metric and Lynx Zero is poorly made and blow out quick.
Feel free to contribute with your experience with any DC shoes, so we will have all the useful information in one place.
Cheers!

I can only speak to the recent OG reissues.
The OG Lynx and OG Kalis 1 are tied for my favorite DC model. Both fit TTS for me and skate great after being broken in (I tend to wear them casually/ dog walks for a couple of weeks before jumping on board). They typically last me a very long time, never get any ollie holes in them, just outsoles wearing down and stitching around the toe box blowing out eventually from flip tricks.
Lukoda fit small and need to go half a size up, but skate similar to the Lynx as they have the same mid/outsole.
The Clocker 2 reissue is another great model, but my experience with them is similar to yours with the OG Legacy where they do fit TTS, but push in around my toes and still haven't really expanded despite wearing them in and already skated them about 4-5 times. After like 10mins into a session you don't really notice it anymore though.
Not for skating (although some people do skate in them) the Navigator boot is great to have for the winter months or for the trails. Also fit TTS and IMO have the perfect amount of "cushioning" but still stable with great traction and grip for snow/ice conditions while keeping your feet dry.
-
for a while i could get dc penza for cheap on their official website europe (around 30€), i still have one pair new i decided to wear yesterday they're a perfect stiff shoe very durable
i'm not fan of their vulc shoe, i much prefere their stiffer cupsole but the maswell i could never make it fit my foot properly, it was way too stiff
-
I have a pair of clocker 2s I probably should’ve gone a half size up. And a pair of navigator boots where I did go half size up and they fit perfect. I wouldn’t consider either of these models TTS
-
Just wanna say the Kalis S is one of the best shoes I've ever skated, and I also miss the Centric S
-
Been waiting for a thread like this- I go between DC and Soletech shoes
The Lynx Zero is very similar to the regular Lynx but with the pull tabs removed, less lace protectors and a slightly redesigned nose (still narrow, I lace them loose but it'd be a good idea to go half a size up). Plus, the sole is different and sits way lower. Honestly it might be blasphemy but I prefer the Zero.
The Kalis Vulc is okay-ish. I have the Mids, the Half-Kabs, they're pretty sick, they just feel like a basic vulc shoe though, basically a Vans-ified Kalis. Nice nose but the insole is fucking garbage, I swapped them out for a G6 insole which works a lot better. The sole didn't blow out immediately either like most other vulcs which is decent. I've retired them to chillers.
As a side note, are the Kalis S still in production or have they been discontinued? They're out of stock on DC's UK website and I can't find a pair anywhere, I really want to try them because I love Kalis
-
Skated 3 pairs of the Jahmir Brown Lynx zero with super suede, all skated great, really liked that colorway, I’d say the flick was prolly the hardest thing to get used to, but yea they lasted awhile but I super glue the stitching on all my shoes so they last longer, uhhhhh cushioning was better than the es cupsoles I’ve been skating, oh yea the jah ones come with the oval laces too so that’s nice, yea good shoe, I never skated the other models of the Lynx zero though so I cant speak on those
-
Breaking in some Lynx Zero now. Was pretty iffy after the first session but they’re growing ok me.
RIP Legacy Slim? One of my favorite shoes.
-
How far back should we go?
DC tonik/Bristol:
good super suede but basic vulc sole that while very grippy wore out quickly. No cushioning at all really but as they were my gravis substitute at the time that was fine.
Cole lite:
Only got these because it was a 2 for 1 deal and they only had one pair of toniks but it changed everything for me. They looked bulky (especially at the time) but they were maybe the thinnest and lightest upper ever. Kinda reminded me of the avera but a thousand times better. Crazy grippy and decent lasting sole and prob best cushioning ever.
Cole light 2:
Much tighter and overall firmer than the first one. Prob looked nicer and less panels to rip tho
Mike mo:
Maybe the best skate shoe of all time for real. Fit really snug but crazy grippy and long lasting sole and upper. Very light and decent cushion
A few months back got some pure mids. They were advertised as a cupsole with a faux vulc wrap which is probably technically true but they really don't feel like cupsoles at all. Sole is grippy. Upper is probably not very good leather if it's even real leather at all. Fit is probably snug (I sized up) but most importantly they were very cheap.

Agreed on the Kalis input, here's mine:
Kalis Vulc - skated 6 pairs of these
- Pretty basic vulc and the insole is trash (like someone said above), go with an aftermarket one
- Great price to performance, they regularly go on sale too with abundant colorways to choose from
- Foot sits pretty low in the shoe
- Great flick, sole and suede is pretty durable
- Solid buy at under $50
- The mid cut version looks great
- Avoid the eco fabric models, blew a hole in them within a day
- Fits TTS for a wide foot
Kalis S - skated 2 pairs of these, own 2 pairs as chillers
- Amazing fit, feels a lot slimmer than it looks, the bootie feet helps give a secure fit
- Only 3 lace loops, so protect them with Shoe Goo or super glue
- Sole is amazingly grippy and durable, the upper was mostly Shoe Goo by the time I was done with it
- I love the puffy tongue, they make great chiller shoes
- Fits TTS for a wide foot
-
Tried the Metric recently and it didn't work for me fit wise. See my comments in the cupsole thread.
Last DCs I tried before that were the Nick Dompierre mid tops. I liked those. Too bad DC doesn't have anything like them now.
BITD I had the old DC Boxers and the original Colin McKay model before that. I liked both, but remember the Boxer's sole wearing down very fast at the time.

Yep I'm running Kalis vulc mids with a different insole (agree with both above, out of the box insole garbage)
Great bang for buck (best I've found)
Minimal break in time I've found, they feel familiar pretty quickly
No vulc blow-out yet and I've skated them pretty hard
Super happy with them except the factory insole
Super happy to support Kalis

rob dyrdek 3-at the time a confusingly named shoe to me as i didn't know who rob dyrdek was.
+i was 12, this was my first pair of dc shoes, i wanted clockers but they were out of clockers in my size, but still rad
+they look very good in retrospect
+i remember them being very comfy until i eventually grew out of them.
+/-i can't say anything about the board feel, because i barely knew how to skate at the time
weird supraish hightop sample from the mid 00s i don't know the model name of but was similar to a manteca
+comfy, with a dunklike shape
-zero boardfeel
-looked ridiculous due to the colorway which was like pale blue/silver with orange highlights. looked like a ny knicks shoe.
manteca high from some point past 2000
+comfy, with a dunklike shape
+/-way more padded than the new ones, like og accels almost
-zero boardfeel
-uncomfortable to walk in for some reason, maybe because they are 20 years old and all the softener has evaporated from the sole unit
pure-had a bunch of pairs in their first run
+comfy with a dunklike shape
+decent boardfeel
+perfect padding
+held up nicely
+very grippy sole
-sole used to go out/develop holes rather quick whereas the upper would stay good for longer
looking back, pures were one of the best performing shoes i ever had. with all the reissues of some of those models, i might give the new mantecas a shot. they look really good in footage and they seem more modern and reasonable in terms of padding than my vintage pair.
-
Wish they re named the Tiago shoe and still made them. Looked liked a really good simple but techy and slim cupsole.
-
Currently skating Lynx OGs and I like them so much I bought another pair. I wore them walking around for a few weeks first which definitely helped give them some flex.
Before the Lynx I tried some mantecas which were also great. Like a less floppy, better quality dunk.
-
I have actually been wanting to try a pair of DC recently. My last pair was some ryan smith halfcab knockoff that were super nice.
how does the Williams slim, kalis lite, or striker fit/ skate?
-
Anyone skate the Manteca 4 yet? The skate version. I want to try those.
-

I love them. Great TTS fit, good durability, best flick I've ever had in a cupsole shoe. Some homies have blown through multiple pairs of Dunks while I'm still on my same pair of Mantecas even though I'm skating more, so I'd say the_oldtype is on to something here:
Like a less floppy, better quality dunk.

What’s up with the Lynx Zero? I know they’re slimmer than the original, but how much slimmer? Like compared to Dunk maybe?
Is there 2 versions out? I see them on sale on non-skate sites for really cheap, but the original price is also only like 49-55€.
Skateshops have them for little under or over 80€, depending on the materials.
I do want to support skateshops, but 30€ for shoes that are either hit or miss is tempting…

my understanding is that this wasn't intended to be a skate shoe but that doesnt stop the man himself from skating them - is this correct?
ive skated quite a few pairs, love how they look, my only complaints are the smaller toe box and I burn through the sole on these quicker than other shoes.

The Lynx Zero is slimmer in the sense that it's slightly narrower than a Lynx OG and the tongue isn't as wide (still hella thick and padded as fuck). It's not the difference between the Accel OG vs Accel Slim if that's what you're worrying about. The Zero's main thing is just the different sole and stripped back on features like lace protectors and the heelside pull tab.
As for the differences between the Zero and the Zero S, the Zero S has tongue centering straps which I see as kind of a take it or leave it sort of thing, though the S does get better colourways imo.
I think the Zero gets a bad rap because it's advertised as slimmer and people think of the accel slim vs the OG, give it a chance.

Padded as fuck doesn’t sound like my jam, man.
Always looking for something with medium padding, like the Dunk, Telford, Tyshawn etc
Maybe just for chillers if I find a ill colorway.
-
Just ordered a pair of DC Pure. I had this Dyrdek shoe that was basically a pro model pure but it had an air bubble.

Ahh I get ya. I'd say it's more padded than a telford, at least tongue wise, with like a grain more padding around where your heel sits. I think maybe you'd be more into the Mantecas if you haven't tried them.

Skated some Teknic S recently and they feel pretty solid. I'm not a fan of Vulc shoes but the outsole held up longer than a normal vulc shoe. The foxing tape and outsole rubber seem a little thicker than most vulc shoes. It was also nice that the suede and canvas both had rubber underneath so the upper is pretty sturdy
Also - for anybody getting Metrics, i'd recommend going half a size up
-
I bought the maroon manual with the rubber toe cap. As a size 12 they literally look like clown shoes.

Does it just feel like a regular vulc shoe? The way they advertised it it seemed like it could be a perfect halfway between cup and vulc but maybe that's always gonna be just out of reach

I usually prefer slim cupsoles, and I’d say this is pretty close to that feeling without being an actual cup. It has the flexibility of a vulc but it comes with a good insole and the rubber is slightly thicker so it feels sturdier than a vulc shoe so I’d say its better than a standard vulc.
I don’t really skate vulcs but I’ll probably skate a few more pairs of these
-
skated a couple of DC tonik S some years back. very solid shoe. good durability with the super suede and this special rubber thing for the sole they had going on.
-
Wes Kremer 2s were the best shoes ever, if I could find more 9.5s or 10s would buy. Wish they would bring these back. Their super suede and vulc combo works great for my skating. Only complaint for me was the DC pill pattern on bottom of the shoe wears through faster than I would like. Had a pair of the Manual S wes kremer model slip on and I did like those as well.
Had one pair of the Kalis vulc and just didn't like them as much for some reason. I think it was just aesthetics for me being I don't like looking down at a sea of lace loops. Minimal lacing is the best.
-
The Mikey Taylor shoe was maybe my favorite skate shoe of all time. Had multiple pairs, I think most of any one shoe model. I would still skate them if they were around. Current shoe that's pretty similar is the New Balance Westgate model, also an excellent shoe and I've had several of those as well.
I liked the Mike Mo shoe too, it took a bit to break in but once it did, it was really good, snug fit.
I also had Evan Smith's first model, it was really comfortable but ugly as shit. And the first model had canvas upper that required constant shoe-gooing, which obviously sucked.
Are there any current DC models that are like the Mikey Taylor shoe? Simple and slim, thin cupsole.

I think it's called the crisis but it's almost exactly the Mikey. Same actual sole just slight different design upper

Out of necessity I had to transition my chillers into skate shoes, so to follow up on the Kalis S:
- Still a great feeling shoe, the outsole is thick and grippy and despite looking puffy has great board feel
- My griptape and deck are pretty worn but I was still getting good flicks on that, I attribute that to the outsole being really grippy
- First session in them they almost felt too grippy but 30 minutes in they were amazing
- They are narrower than I remember, I wear 9.5 and these were 10, they still pinched wide foot and toes
- You have to skate them to break them in, I had them as chiller for close to a year and after lacing them up securely with my 1 ankle brace, they still felt squeezed my foot
- I had to endure the tightness because going tighter made my heel feel insecure in the shoe, probably because they only have 3 lace loops and I'm using aftermarket insoles for flat feet
- It was only after the warm up that they started feeling just right and secure
It's a shame they stopped making these as widely and only do the Kalis Vulc, probably due to cost and how it's easier to do 100s of colorways.
I still have 1 more pair in the black / red / grey that I'm holding on to, that is the best colorway IMO.

I'd like to give the Manteca 4 another shot if I wasn't already neck deep in eS shoes.

Real fukn good

I love the Kalis S - i had 4-5 pairs
Also the Lynx Zero - yeah its not the OG but you can find em regularly for under $60. nice thick cupsole.
the Tiago S were also amazing when they were out.
-
I saw someone skating the Metric shoe yesterday and they look pretty good. Granted it was the black/white sole version but Im tempted to try them.
-
At the session today a friend was rocking the Shanahan Metric and I was giving him shit for skating such a fat shoe. But when I tried it on it was surprisingly comfortable and the sole wasn't too thick, good amount of board feel and the outsole was tall so it gripped the worn our griptape very nicely.
No kickflips in them but I was surprised, guess the modern takes on these tissue boxes aren't half bad!
-
Legacy Slim 98
Absolute best skate shoe ever
Breaks in quick
Good boardfeel
Looks so dope
Lasts long
Im down to my last pair but Im putting skating these off for as long as I can or atleast until I find a new pair.
If anyone has a pair or knows of someone selling a pair in 9-9.5 (no wacky colorways) please let a god know.
Kalis S
Is as good as the Legacy Slim but the only issue which is kind of a major issue is that the lace loops are made of fabric (on some of the earlier models at least) and once they rip the fit of the shoe is fucked. It happened to me twice and the shoes weren't fully finished so I had to run em fitting all fucked up. They still skated real good.
Williams Slim
Really good too with most of the characteristics of the shoes listed above. The only thing I'd say is that the sole wears down faster since the tread pattern isn't that deep/

Haha I checked out the housing crisis and it does look like the Mikey shoe. The DC-logo is way bigger but I might have to get a pair to see if the same magic is there.
It makes sense they kept making it after they dropped Mikey, because I recall his shoe was a really good seller, they had it in so many colorways for quite a few years. Although it's not 2015 anymore and the trends certainly aren't the same either.
-
I found some older Chris Cole promodel dcs on eBay last year and loved them. They were a light cupsole, perfect for a wide foot and lasted me for months.
Is there a current DC model that works for a wide and fat foot?
I have tried on both the OG Kalis and the other Kalis and they were way too narrow for me.

the shanahan metrics are super sick, i hope this isn't the only colorway they will release of those. the shoe looks very good as a midtop, makes the paneling seem more balanced to me. the legacy sole also fits really well.

I'd like to give the Manteca 4 another shot if I wasn't already neck deep in eS shoes.

Bit of more feedback on the Kalis vulc mids. About to move over to my second pair (3 pairs in stock). Super happy with the shoe, excluding the insoles. Skated hard in the first pair for some time with no dramas, they still haven't officially blown out and the upper, despite some UV weathering, has held up 100%. Only real criticism is the insole but I use my own anyway.
I think it'd be a safe wager to argue that this is the best budget shoe out there. I'd be surprised if there was something better at this price point.
Recommended but with better insoles. I'm going to stock up with a couple more pairs before they're discontinued.

Do Lynx zero skate good when you come from shoes like blazers, campus, superstars?
Bought them for cheap, but they are still pretty bulky

In my experience they taker longer to break in but last much longer than any run-of-the-mill vulc. I get a least thrice as many sessions out of Lynxs as any vulc I've ever skated.
-
Has anyone skated the teknic s vulc shoe yet? Looks to be a decent vulc shoe by DC, maybe pretty similar to the Kalis vulc?
-
Breaking in some Lynx Zero now. Was pretty iffy after the first session but they’re growing ok me.
RIP Legacy Slim? One of my favorite shoes.
Got a pair on now. Was the last sample from the local distro. I've had about 4 pairs and they're by far the best DC in recent memory.

Haven't tried them but they look good. Waiting for the Wes Kremer colorway to come out then I'll give them a shot. https://ibb.co/4T6tkHC

Im a 9. I'm always on the hunt for em, right now there are a couple white colorways but Im not that into white shoes in general but I think Ill have to make an exception if I want to keep skating them.
I started skating the Kalis lites. Took a couple of days to break in and the sole felt a bit weird at first but now that they are broken in, they skate really good. Ill just have to wait and see if they are durable or not.

Went into this board shop near my work a couple weeks ago and managed to pick two pairs of kalynx's up for $95 Cad each.
Gonna wear one pair into the ground and keep the other pair on ice to pull out in 10 years

Has anybody gotten along with the Metric?
I'm on my 4th pair of Kalis S and they've been great, fit me tts but currently DC are having a big sale and the Metric has caught my eye but I've heard they fit small, can anyone confirm this?

Metric is somewhat pointy toe, I found it to be slightly narrow. I would go up a half size.

Thanks, unfortunately they don't off 1/2 sizes in my size range, I'd have to go a full size up.

Yeah you'd have too much room if you did I think. DC sizing is really wonky.

For some reason, the Shanahan Metric looks kinda ugly to me. I'd rather the actual Metric or the JS 1 instead. It reminds me of the Es sole swapping uppers business. Which has had mixed reviews of good and bad impressions on people.
If the shoe actually fits well and skates comfortably, then that's a win for those that enjoy em.

Any reviews on the JS1?

First impressions: beefy tank sole, roomy toebox, comfortable enough for an all-day wear imo, good materials. If you like the Lynx OG/Kalis OG you'll love this one. Only issues I have are that the strap buckles were super sharp on the pair I tried, like you could cut yourself almost, and that the eyelets are fake.

This is so gross to me. That feels like when 'long sleeve t-shirt under a short sleeve t-shirt' was cool, and the Sears kids department was selling t-shirts with fake long sleeves sewn into them. Which a hater might say is actually a great metaphor for John Shanahan as a skater (not me though, I think he's cool).

What is the sizing on these comparing to lynx og or legacy og? TTS?

Don't have the Legacy OG but I felt like compared to the Lynx they were comparable. Oddly a pretty roomy toebox and very comfortable underfoot.

Just saw those DC Dom's, it would be sick if they put something like that back in the lineup. The toebox looks just about perfect. I tried some Lakai telfords, because I have wide ass feet, and the dunk style toe usually has more room to accommodate, but the Telford toe is so low it feels like a narrow vulc to me.

I got a pair of the Manteca 4 Hi and they feel pretty solid. They ran 0.5 small so I went 0.5 up and they fit exactly as desired.
The sole is a decent thickness but is thinner under the forefoot than I was hoping. However, it's easy to swap or add another insole to pad the sole cushioning to be ideal. Gonna put some G6 or STI insoles in them soon!

I ran over here because I just saw the all black colorway of this shoe with a gum outsole, and am seriously thinking about getting a pair, but I wanted to know if DC had done some fucked up shit that I wasn't aware of (aside from fumbling several talented pros that once rode for them).
I'd rather pay $85 for DC's dunk high copy than $130 for the actual Dunk High. It's tough to wait and see if Nike will ever decide to make/reissue a dunk high in a black/gum colorway, and then require me to fight the hypebeasts and man buns for a pair. I know there's a restock of the low "fog" colorway coming, but I'm 36, I need that mid to high upper.
I'm also holding onto hope that the New Balance 440 High V2 comes in a similar all black colorway with a gum outsole, but next Spring is so far away

For my size there isn't a half sized option so I always get tts, and they are tight as hell in the toebox at first, but end up molding to my foot pretty well. I haven't found any thick insoles that actually work with them yet. Tried some g6s and felt like there was no room left for my foot. Honesty my favorite shoe at the moment. And I dont have to stress winning a raffle just to get a pair.

This sounds like it would have worked well if that 0.5 up size was available for ya instead of going down to your TTS. 1.0 size up would be too roomy I'd imagine, even if you did double insole to be snug. Shame they don't have that 0.5 up for you to try out the fit.
Just from wearing them I fell good about the Manteca. Solid dunk replacement.

I was shopping around for a dunk replacement, trying anything with that style toebox and have settled between mantecas and the ksl, except I can't stand most of the ksl colorways , and the Manteca feels way more durable. I havent even skated sb dunks in over a decade, but I've always been pretty anti hype, and the availability isn't worth the hassle.

Curious why the KSL colors are not working for you? Most of them have been pretty basic (predominantly black or white) mostly.
I'd say the Manteca is noticeably cheaper in quality and durability compared to the KSL after wearing both and feeling the materials between the two in hand. The Mantecas are a good dunk substitute but there's a reason they weren't priced at $100 like Dunks/KSL/Forums/etc. Hopefully when I skate mine they surprise me. After all, I got mine for 26 dollars off DC's site ao I can't complain much hahah

For the people skating lynx zero: you keep the stock insoles or upgrade it?
Tried mine yesterday for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. They feel and work well for me even though I need to get use to the flick. I'll probably throw some little thicker insole today to see the difference.

I've kept them stock for the 3 pairs I skated thus far and haven't had any real problems once they were broken in, but I do think there's room for improvement there. Especially if you know what kinds of insoles you like. I don't really, so I just go with what's in there.

I really like the Lynx Zero. I know OG heads hate the Lynx Zero (because it's not the Lynx OG) but it's really a type of model that is in-line with what DC used to do back in the late 90s/early 00s. Very similar to a manteca but more puffy, great beater shoe. I wore my pair for 5 miles of walking the other day and had virtually no footpain on a stock insole (paper thin).

I liked the first black and white pair with the green E, and the white on white suedes with the green E are my favorite. I just hate black soles, and I really think they dropped the ball on the shake junt Collab by not doing green suede KSL's because I wouldve got as many as i could justify. And the last pair I saw with grey suede toes wasn't it for me. They fit my foot more comfortably than mantecas, roomier, more relaxed feel, with hella padded heel, but the toe almost feels too floppy to me when broken in. The mantecas have maintained there shape better after a number of beatings. That's just my two cents.

Dude I'd jump for them the Zeroes are fantastic. I'm getting that colourway as a birthday treat for myself in a couple weeks.
You'll like them I promise. They were very much made with the mindset of the old 90s/2000s models and are a great, underrated crep and OG alternative. Just like the Kingpin compared to the Accels.
-
Zeroes are fucking great and this comes from a guy who never liked DC at all.
Tried then with that eS energy insoles (which sucks btw) but shoe felt off, heel to high and overall weird. Came back to the stock insole and oh boy, those shoes feel perfect for me.
Boardfeel is great (coming from 808), they're grippy and look good + they're always on sale somewhere. Solid shoe.

Same here. Copped two pairs of the Jahmir's Lynx Zero for under $60 shipped. I cut one pair's tongue foam out (Little slit across the inside by the sizing and pulled out) as I wanted to see what they'd feel like and I actually like em better than the puffed tongue pair. Got the best of both world's w/ puffy tongue and slim which fits my foot better in the shoe. As far as skating in them goes I love em. Been on some NB#s, Nike's etc and these def are up to par for me.

How’s the fit on Lynx zeros and Mantecas? Let’s say compared to dunks, 440s or 1010? I wear 9s in dunks and 440s and 9.5 in 1010s. There’s both mantecas and lynx zeroes for dirt cheap and I’d like to try a pair. Had a pair of the bronz 56k lukodas a while ago and even 9.5s were pretty tight so wondering what size I should get in these two models…
-
Zeros and Mantecas both ran 0.5 small on me so I sized 0.5 up in both, which is standard for DC. Their modern cupsoles run 0.5 small usually.
Manteca is far thinner/closer to the ground in sole thickness. I'd recommend an insole swap in the Mantecas for better protection.
Zeros feel like a harder thicker sole under foot and ample padding throughout. Will feel like Lukodas in overall thickness but a diet version of DC's classic bulky cupsoles. More flexible. Insole is hard to remove and swapping an insole would be overkill for fit/protection. Closer to a 1010 in overall bulk but has a thicker forefoot than 1010.
Mantecas have a medium to light amount of padding. Slightly thinner dunk: sole, upper materials, padding, etc. Sole is noticeably flexible. More than a dunk, but similar to a 440 kinda. More padded than a 440.
Hope that helps!
I'm looking forward to skating my Mantecas. I didn't like the fit on Zeroes as much as I thought I would, but they definitely work for others!
-

Nah it's not just you. Takes time to adjust to the weird flick.

It's a pretty thick sole and has a pseudo runner toe. Maybe that's why it flicks kinda weird? When i skated the OG Lynx, it kinda flicked weird at first to me for this same reason, perhaps.
Never skated my Zeroes before I passed them on, so I can't share experiences there

Anyone here skated the Striker? How’s the fit and feel?

I love my kalis ogs. currently skating the cafe pair ( the colorway is so simple and goes with everything ) and they are almost donezo. what other old skate shoes skate similar to the kalis ogs that are reissues? i got the eS creagors and they dont skate like the kalis and, im just done skating williams ogs. message me with any recomendations. thanks.

Man, those Williams og's were ovens for my feet. Never have my feet sweat so much while skating a shoe. Honestly, I think the truth's would be the way to go, although the thrasher colorway is a bit atrocious. Strikingly similar feel to the Kalis OG's, same stiffness in the sole with that air bubble. The creagers look dope; I feel like they kinda missed the mark a bit, but I've also never skated them.
-
thank you much and yea sadly the thrasher ones are too much. been wanting the ben g truths so bad but have 0 dollarz!! thank you though!

Same, those are sweet. 140 is crazy though, apparently they've been sitting like mad, can't say I'm surprised. That colorway is so dope, but I'm not sure how well the patent leather will skate.
-
horrible like it always does. after the first few sessions though they shinny leather will turn in soft leather prolly which makes it ok ig

True. If I'm paying 140 before tax, I'd rather my shoes not skate like shit and after a few sessions look like shit. Thoughts on the new kalynx zeros?
-
horrid. i love when they did the leagcyxlynxxkalis all OG on one shoe but, with the kalis lite and lynx zero, it just looks bad to me. also just hate the lynx zero in general

Same here. I just think its funny that they're giving kalis yet another shoe, although they are mostly one in the same. Thats shoe number what, six? The vulcs, s, lites, og, truth, now kalynx? 7 if you count the Kalynx "OG"

black sheep has the truth ben g in my size. its really not a lot of patient leather where you skate

Still available in every size. Man, these are tempting, just can't get over that 140.

LMAO

Might get those cafe clockers. Not the best colorway in the world, but simple. Can find them for generally cheap, loved the way the bronze56k clockers skated.
-
Anyone heard anything about the new DC X Rave drop? Only available on Rave Website rn but they look sick, a simple color way too, remind me of their cafe collab awhile back. https://raveskateboards.com/products/299-lukoda

I left a comment on their insta post about how they were sold out within minutes and they mentioned a restock later this week, not sure about the truthfulness there but if its true I'm all for it. I want those badly

On the site its says the "Lukoda run small, go one size up". Has anyone had a pair of Lukodas before, any validity to this? Only skated DC's Mantecas before.

Yeah I had a pair of the Bronze collab few years back and it actually runs half size small, and I'm pretty sure that's what they said for the Butter collab from last year too.
IMO go half size up, doubt they changed the fit of the Lukoda since those releases

Im not tryna pay for over the pond shipping though, DC needs to drop on their website. I need a nice looking chunky shoe.

Also question for the thread, I curious about the Lynx line. I know they CHONKY but I had the OG ES Accel and those boys THICC. Wondering some thoughts on a good Lynx model (maybe wait for a new Kalis CW?Prepping but not ready for full fridges on my feet yet.

Lynx og's are less chunky than the accel og but much more durable and sit up higher. They only make limited runs of them, the latest being the cash only one that dropped last week so there might not be another for a while. The lynx zero, however, is like dc's accel slim. Same exact look just slimmed down, different sole, no lace loops or pull tab. Also always available and only $70 compared to most OG's that start at 110. DC's website always has free shipping if you have an account and its easy to find coupons online for like 30% off

Every time I’ve dm’d Kalis to ask for sizing advice on his pro-shoes (only twice) he answers within the day if not the hour. I don’t know if homie is chronically online but i very much appreciate the help. Don’t wanna blow this up but if anyone is debating buying any of his shoes and don’t know what size to get just hit the man up!!

But don't forget to do it like a man, that's vital.

Lynx felt noticeably more chunky than Accel OG to me (skated both and Lynx were bricks compared to Accels), even though Accel OG has WAY more tongue padding. Accel OG has a much thinner/more skate ready sole than the Lynx. The Lynx I skated took a long time to break in, but Accels broke in a few sessions.
Anyways, if the poster above wants a good temporary shoe until another Lynx or Kalis drops, Lynx Zero is not bad, but not great. Could be great, but it's definitely built closer to a price point model than a premium one. So YMMV if you buy it Vacaka
Other alternatives that are thicker cupsoles: DC Clocker 2, Manteca 4 (slimmest of all shoes mentioned here), Emerica OG-1, KSL G6, Etnies Marana, Joslin, MC Rap Lo/Hi

Has anyone tried the kalynx zero? I have a pair of lynx zeros and mantecas and had to go a half size up for them.
-
Anyone get their hands on a pair of JS-1? Been curious how they skate.
Lately have had the legacy 98 slims and Lynx zero on the skate rotation.
Legacy slims are really form fitting and extremely comfortable. Great boardfeel and flick, durability overall is pretty good. They look great and I wish that DC would drop a couple more. 8.5/10
The Lynx zeros are fine, I had been skating the OGs and lukodas for the past year and the OG options are superior in just about every way. The Lynx zero reminds me more of a dunk-a-like or too close to what the Manteca already brings to their line up. Also I tend to blow through a set of laces just about every time I go skate the shoes. Wish DC would add a couple more hits on the details to make them a more true slimmed down version of the OG. 6/10

I mean for what it's worth, Kalis posted his phone number on here awhile back haha he's just a really good dude

Tried on the shanahan’s yesterday, complete unit of a shoes. So many different materials and panels make it feel sturdy like a work boot. The clicker sole is nice and I’d say feels thicker in the heel compare to a Lynx. The collar is nicely padded and taller on the ankle than the other bulkier options that DC is offering. The lace system might be a little strange with the faux eyelets but the internal lace loops and strap made it feel very secure. Looking forward to seeing how they skate.
-
so i know i need to go a half size up but do the lukodas skate the same as the lynx og? huge fan of the lynx og and the lukoda has the same outsole and toecap.
-
Lukodas go up to full size up.
I find they skate bulkier /heavier from what lynx of feels like. Lynx I think are the best dc shoe of all time.
As for js-1 true to size with a possible half size up goes. The most detailed show I've seen in a long time.
-
wit the lukodas the dc website says go half a size up. my homie has a pair and went a half size up and said they fit good. the js-1 look TOO bulky. if youve skated em give me a lil review

Does anyone know if this site is legit?

Does anyone know if the Metrics run small? I really want to get a pair and normally wear at 6 - 6.5 (yeah, I know), but the smallest size they make is a 7. My local doesn't have any Metrics in a size 7 so I can't try them on in-person. My normal size in a Lynx Zero is snug, even with the lacing fairly loose, so I'm hoping someone has an answer.

Thanks a lot, man, I'll abstain. I really wanted their blue Stevie's. Too good to be true! Thanks again!

The metrics run slightly small so I go half a size up with that shoe. you’ll probably be fine with a 7
-
Thanks for the info, now if only I can find a pair of those Hongo Brothers Metrics in a size 7.
