This is awful news. Brands that are sold in Zumiez have one foot in the grave. Remember Spitfire, Real, Independent, Krooked, Vans, Converse, Nike etc? You never hear about them anymore bc they're sold in Zumiez. Every hardcore, hellride sk8er boi boycotted all of those brands the min they appeared there. Too bad- loved the wild Polar deck shapes. I’m sure that the decks with drawings done by Nick Boserio’s kid and random photos taken by Paul Grund on decks with wheel wells are going to be all the rage with the clear grip tape Rip and Dip kids compared to the Primitive Naruto decks.

before i quit my AM job at zumiez, i'd get into chats with the DM and one of the skate buyers who said they were working on actually getting Polar into the stores. partially at that time they wanted to jump on the bigboy trend but then they realized they can just make it themselves, hence why the Zumiez/Empyre bigboys ended up being made. im sure they wanted the boards but it never ended coming to fruition.
they tried with having Passport and Isle in the stores but honestly when they came they sat and sat until they went on clearance, people were more interested in buying Baker, Santa Cruz, Creature, Girl boards, etc. imo the newer, trendier brands don't sell well vs. veteran brands in shops like Zumiez.
wonder if they'll actually follow through with this, cause there's no way they would pull they're bigboy knock off pants, but yeah that was in talks for a moment.

Skaters want the cool brands to stick around only selling to real shops but at the same time, only buy shop decks or deep discount items, never supporting a new drop. I get it, shits expensive but this is why zumiez has a place.

Polar is on Parade World, depending which country you're shopping from. remember that Parade World isn't a standalone shop. it is a site that works with skateshops to make it easier for people to get what they're looking for online while helping the shops. makes sense why Zumiez was/is interested in selling polar in the stores, but now, with their pants line doing well i don't really see it happening anytime soon.

Baker and Real are there too. I randomly walked into one last week. They had a nice Tanner Full SE in 8.5. They’re corporate, but still a skate shop. And the only choice (besides online) if you live in small town Ohio. Not all of us are privileged enough to live in cities with cool skate shops 😔

this is the correct take. Plus, a lot of these brands have deals where the product is only in Zumiez that have no skate shop near by.

A friend that used to be pro for Killing Floor told me that the owner made a deal with Zumiez that they paid way more for Killing Floor boards and most of that money was kicked down to the pros, so if you can get Zumiez to pay premium for your cool brand, then fuck it do it. One day I was watching that old S-One insoles video 4 Cities and it was actually sponsored by Zumiez when it appeared to be some one location core shop.

In regards to parade world yes there is still polar items on there but shops have been told to remove stuff from there . I don’t think they want the market saturated so I assume this rumor about Zumiez likely has no merit .

If this happens it will definitely only be hardgoods and i doubt every zumiez store will carry them. a lot of companies have a glut of goods from ordering too much after the covid hardgoods shortage so if it helps them move off shit that didn’t sell at a profit I don’t think it should really be a big deal.

I think i wouldn't hate zumiez nearly as much if it wasn't for the stupid fucking name. It would still suck but it sounds like somewhere to buy clothes for your preschooler.

I know what Parade World is. I work at a shop. Been getting mass emails for months saying Polar is not allowed on Parade World. Just got one a couple weeks ago.

I remember seeing a post of an IG model wearing a thrasher tee and some folks were clowning her, but im gonna keep it a stack. I have never purchased a thrasher tee outside of the free one with my subscription. If they can sell tees and afford to do bust or bails forever off of some randos buying their stuff in store why not?? I benefit from these companies selling to zumiez.
As someone mentioned before, I will keep buying from the locals, I will keep telling kids about dope local shops, and hell maybe I'll even tell an IG model about a sick shop that sells coolguy stuff too

I don’t give a shit about any brand being sold in Zumiez. Zumiez is a starting point for a shit ton of kids who get into skating. If they stick with skating, they will find the local shop sooner or later and never go back to Zumiez. Zumiez has their place in the market.
How long before these brands aren’t popular anymore though? Cause their whole thing is about being exclusive.

I really like that I can’t get the boards n shoes i like from them and the reasoning is bc its too close to a shop they already sell too. It’s also sick they sell to two other shops that are even closer together and then ignore whoever tries to reach out to him for a legit reason why??
If that ain’t the epitome of cool as fuck idk what is. I’m just butthurt I can’t get the shit i want from my local and its bc some dude wants to play favorites. Gonna cry about it. Congratz zoomies lrab next??

Zumiez online orders are now delivered by a local store employee. Not that big of deal unless you has some active beef your nearest zumiez store.

Zumiez gets hate like the price point decks but we should appreciate them. Mall shops keep money coming in to companies. Shitty for locals but keeps the doors open for others.
Normally I try to stay away but hit the deep discounts for jeans and work gear. Being in construction you can ruin everything at any moment. Better shit than Ross or Marshals.
Another issue is my size, XL and 36x34. Not a ton of options in the local. Just high water pants and Santa Cruz shirts.

they did very well that at my last 100k they did a seminar about how successful it was for them because they were price point and alright for kids who don't care that they weren't big boys.
