Your cat looks exactly like one of my 2 cats, even down to the collar. He was missing for over a month and just came back this morning all skin and bones.

I very much hope Milky is alright. It's great that he's home. I hope you're feeling ok yourself. This type of stuff can be very hard. Have you been able to take him to the vet yet? He's looks super sweet by the way, and yeah he looks so much like my cat

Yes, he's okay, thanks. He's done this before, but never for that long. His brother Junior is the sweet one, haha, he's getting used to Milky being back home. Take care of that kitty!

Proud cat owner. Have an almost 13 year old brown tabby cat that I got for free but he’s ended up being a total money pit. Couple of pointers for anyone getting a cat.
First…don’t just feed them kibble especially male cats. I did for my cat 2 years straight and he developed stones which lead to a blockage in his urethra. He was unblocked by a vet but she accidentally slit a hole in his urethra causing piss to go all in his body which lead to even more surgery. Thankfully he survived.
Second…get pet insurance. Pay the monthly so that one day when shit hits the fan that you don’t have to think twice to pay the high vet bill. My cat 5 days ago went in for a gut infection. Not sure if he is going to survive but we’ve paid in total the cost of a car to keep him alive. I am even syringe feeding him tonight…but I love this cat and am trying to make him as long as I can.

One of my girlfriend’s cats escaped in the middle of a particularly cold winter, and she was gone for like a month. When we found her, she was super skinny, dirty, stank, and missing the tip of her left ear. She did not seem to understand why we would have been worried. She’s fine now. Cats are weird.

Kinda miss having a cat but been over some people's houses who had shitty cats recently and it's put me off a bit. That and how fukn expensive it is now.
Had a bunch of cool ones over the years had a gnarly Maine coon that was a stray and an absolute monster that would constantly get in fights get cut up which then always get infected turn into big cysts that would burst and the vet would have to clean out the hole and stitch it up so he had massive bald patches everywhere. Super fukn gross even lost an ear because of it. (It was some health condition by the way even taking great care of it would still get infected)
Also had the nicest Burmese but it literally just dropped dead one night so that too kind of ours me off getting another. Prob get another cat before dog tho

This is my boss...Síota (hence the user name), she is a Bengal, more like a dog than a cat. Walks on a leash, plays fetch knows "no", "sit", "come here", "birdie" etc..and is loud as fuck.

feel exactly the same here! I have three daughters. two I rescued off the street (one being feral), one adopted by my partner. they also eat, sleep, and lounge well. always look forward to hanging out with them.

we have two cats...
and a stray that frequents the kitchen door...
because of the stray coming around ... One of our cats decided to start habitually pissing all over the front door (two or three times a day)... the stray them started retaliating... so i end cleaning pee off my front door a lot
the other cat likes to meow as loud as he possibly can at 3 am every morning whilst wandering around the house... just because he can...
In short my cats suck... but my wife and kids like them... so i put up with them

Anybody drive across country with your cat? Planning on doing so in the summer. Goal involves not having her in the carrier. She be more distraught if I kept her in there. Any tips or insight be appreciated if you made a journey with cats

All the cats I've had have hated cars so I've never done anything like this. My recommendation as a long time cat owner though would be to constantly make sure your cat is comfortable as stuff like this can be quite stressful for cats. Most cats couldn't handle something like this well but if your considering doing it I assume it's because your cat is more fit for stuff like this than most. Some cats do love this sort of stuff. Either way do all the research you can and I'd suggest doing a short trip with your cat first to see how they enjoy it and learn measures you should take for your specific cat. If it seems like a good idea and you end up doing it, I hope you have a lot of fun as it sounds like a lot of fun! let us know how it goes :)

He’s chill and low maintenance, but he’ll also bite the shit out of you if you get too handsy with him and he’s not into it. He’s also not really into cuddling on people, but really likes to sit beside people on couches and stuff, which makes him like a roommate. He also likes to tap people with his paw when he wants pets, scratches, or snacks. Overall, very polite.

@Jim and Dan's cats look like such as fun duo. They're really cute. They reminds me of my Grandma's cats
@doublesteveburger's are super interesting looking. That little patch of grey fur on Petrie's chest surprised me and the thumbs are adorable. Casper all white fur combined with the different eyes are quite mesmerizing. The eyes are actually the same 2 shades my other Grandma's eyes were depending on the lighting. And also, I really wanna Beaker a hug, they're adorable

My maine coon doesn't nap on my lap while I work but he does sit at my feet all the time and play with them

Thank you for the kind words, these boys are seriously angels. It's funny you mention the patch of fur on Petrie's chest cause when sprawled out it kinda looks like he's wearing a little tie. He can also open cabinets using his thumbs to the point that we had to be cognizant of where we put the kitty treats. This little dude's the cuddliest of the three and sleeps on my lap/chest whenever the opportunity.
As for Casper, he steals the show whenever possible. Out of the three he's the one that is friendliest to strangers and lets literally anyone rub his belly. We were made aware that his sister also has the same eyes and my lady's actually been following the owner on social media so it's cool to see the sister from time to time.
I'll be sure to give Beaker a big ass hug for ya today. Almost named him Milo after Milo from The Oblongs but Beaker just stuck.

In college I used to smuggle kittens into my campus apartment to resell. Find em for free or at least super cheap on Craigslist, sell them right back on there for $100 - $300 a pop. It was one of the funnest schooop years having up to 4 at a time running around always well trained and the roommates all appreciated them

Haha I wish it was that simple, I don't want to piss off the mom (especially since she killed a giant mouse yesterday so I know she has hands :v) so I think I should try to earn her trust first instead.

Yaaa when I was a kid I got chased by a mom cat trying to catch kittens haha. Feral cats used to stash their kittens under our porch chairs so it was easy to get them when the mom was out on a hunt and then eventually the mom would come around be the homie too when they see we're not a threat. Good times

this is Snowball. back in 2008 my friends opened up a Skate Shop next to a bar and i would always see her hanging around. for years i tried to pet her being the whisperer that i am. she denied me every time. i would see other people try to pet her so i came up with the "Pet Bounty". "I'll give you 40 bucks if you can pet that cat!" she denied all of them every time.
years later after the bar owner and i had been feeding her he produced a video clip of her stroking her back one time before she scuttled off. i told him petting is more than one stroke and would give him 20 bucks for the one. he took it. now she lets almost anyone pet her, even complete strangers. she even got in someone she had just met's lap!
fast forward to now and i am her #1 but she has lots of people on her favorites list. i can snap my fingers and she will come to me. i can lead her to others so they can pet her. she even talks and makes biscuits. she truly is living her best life and i love her so much. she must be in her late teens. this lady in the neighborhood has been paying to take her to the vet and she gets pain shots for her hip. The guy who named her Snowball recently passed away. he would feed and get all of the neighborhood kittys fixed. he would come down the street on his little scooter and cats would come out of the woodwork running to him. the pied piper king of cats. rest in peace Jim!
i gave Snowball a theme song and play it for her on the jukebox all the time

Tammy (black and white cat, 3) we adopted from "petsmart". she's a monster. so goofy. she's big boned (seriously) and doesn't know it. Ruby (grey, 3) is the sweetest cat. so well behaved. couldn't ask for better. Izzy (orange cat, 7) is always on edge. apparently that's a quality attributed to female orange cats. scared of everything, but she rules. my sn is named after my cat from a while ago. ill get a photo soon.

I forgot to take a pic but I met a new neighborhood cat yesterday morning and he's rad.
Was walking around the corner and saw a flash of movement from under a bush, lil dude was going after a birdie and he noticed me and stopped dead with his big yellow eyes locked on me. I figured he was gonna bolt like street cats usually do, but he didn't so I dropped my board and bag and got down and made some scratching noises and after a bit he slowly came out, then came over and checked me out, then started rubbing on me and giving me head bumps and shit. He was all black and either still young or a runt cuz he was pretty skinny (not in an underfed way) but his coat was clean and he looked healthy, so combined with how friendly he was I'm pretty sure it's someone's cat.
For a couple minutes we just hung out and played in a sunny spot in the corner of the yard, then he went on his way. I'm gonna start taking that route home and see if I run into him again. I had a lil calico buddy a few years back that would regularly escape his owner and come visit me and I've always wondered what happened to him.

When the pandemic hit, I started working from home... almost a year in one day I was here rendering a bunch of videos for the office and kept hearing something outside through my noise-cancelling headphones... went on for like a half hour or so. I took the phones off and could then tell it was a critter in distress. The acoustics from outside get weird in the house, so I was thinking it was an injured bird or something. Lucky for both of us, it was the introduction to my son Buddy. I took this minutes after finding him stranded in the yard:

...his big ole head was the same size as his body! He was about 2 weeks old when I found him, and I started bottle feeding the guy every couple of hours until he was ready for real food. He was so small he fit well inside the palm of your hand... within a few hours I had this boy hooked up with a heated pad, more toys than I grew up with, and all the stuff ya need for a healthy little kiddo:

My wife and I wanted him to have a sibling, but we had to wait a few weeks since they have to be a certain age before they can be adopted out... we met and fell in love with his one-week-older brother Lotti (this was his first day at his home):

At one point (weeks later), they both weighed six pounds, and we were thinking that Buddy was gonna be built like a linebacker and Lottie was gonna wind up being a ferret, but Buddy wound up being a sleek little ninja and Lotti's an 18 pound chonk. A long time ago my wife and I had adopted and raised a brother and sister from kittens to old age, and neither of us ever had the heart to adopt any little ones again... I'm so glad Buddy found us... he and Lotti filled a huge gap for us, and they're just the most loveable kids we could have ever asked for.

This is poor quality, but it's one of my favorite pics... right after I had a plate and pins put in my leg, I rearranged the workstation in my studio so I could kind've lay in a loveseat with my broken shit elevated and braced, and these two homies would not leave my side. I think they knew their old man was in a lot of pain, so whenever I was in this room (15+ hours a day as I work and make art in here), they were both right by or on me, which made me feel great as Buddy isn't a lapcat, and Lotti is mos definitely a momma's boy. I love these boys so much.

We’ve slowly been trying to introduce them, giving them treats when they don’t attack each other, etc. I know that the bigger cat will often bite the kitten to assert dominance.. especially when the kitten relentlessly wants to play attack them.. but how long does it typically take for them to become amicable, and is there any way to help that happen?

I'd also add that it's not the end of the world if they never become best buds, at minimum hope they don't fight and wanna kill each other. It's funny how different cats can develop such different relationships and personally I don't think there's too much you can do to help it. Seems to me it's more up to the cats and it could be a couple months where suddenly one day they're best homies

my partner and i recently adopted this sweet little tabby cat (8 months old) who has been living outdoors her entire life. we would see her pretty often on our daily walks and she would run up to us wanting so much attention. after observing her hunt lizards and run around for 2-3 weeks. we started asking around if she was a stray or someone's outdoor cat; it turns out one of our neighbors was looking after her, but couldn't bring her inside due to family allergies. he got her vaccinated, fixed, and said we could take her (god bless his soul!). it was perfect timing as winter was approaching and other bigger street cats were messing with her. her name is Mia and she's been doing great getting used to the indoor life. she misses being outside so we'll eventually get her harness trained so we can take her on supervised walks!

she honestly wasn't a fan of the collar initially, but she's gotten over it so who knows. she may hate wearing the harness and want nothing to do with walking. i've seen so many videos of people hiking with cats, cats riding in the bike basket, etc. and I'm hoping Mia will grant me those wishes

@Jewel Runner I mostly walk her in a dog free park, when we other places I'm on the look out for dogs. She is pretty chill and I can tell if she is gonna get scared, when I think she will be I put her carrier case on the ground so she can retreat into it if she wants. She always looks at me or rubs my legs if she is worried. As for behaving better than a dog, well she does shit and piss in a box..hahaha.
@matt_2993 Yes she is a bengal, pure breed. I got her from a family who's mother had a breeder thing (I forget the English word, she breed cats) and passed away. The family gave the cats to an association. I have allergies to cats but bengals have little to no Fel d 1 so was looking for a cat to adopt that wouldn't kill me. She is cool but beware they have lots I mean LOTS of energy. Also are loud, and very very talkative. Thank fuck my next door neighbors had screaming kids when I got her so they can't say shit. Furthermore, they are supper clingy, like she will follow me room to room and has to be be in the bathroom etc with me/sleep on my side of the bed and so on. My ex's would say she would sleep on thier laps untill she heard me coming home then bolt to wait at the door.

Got Orange a year and a half ago. She kills scorpions, climbs ladders for people, just doesn't give a fuck. Very friendly and has crazy animal instincts. I can throw her favorite toy mouse up into the loft, she will climb up the ladder and hope down the wall shelves with the mouse in her mouth and drop it at your feet to throw again. If she doesn't see me throw it she will sniff the air and follow the scent. Gets really pissed this time of year if I don't get the fireplace going for us.

It was heartbreaking. He was mid sleep basking in the sun, and he let out a series of distressing meows that felt like “help me”. We tried to wake him, but he started gasping as his tongue hung out of his mouth. His eyes went blank, like a cold stare and it was over. It all happened very quickly, and there was nothing that could be done.
My face hurts from crying. He was a beautiful tiger, and a ridiculously intelligent cat. I also don’t know that I’ve ever been loved greater in life by anything or anyone. He loved me immensely and unconditionally.
I thank you guys for your kind words. I love animals so much, because they’re pure in their being. They will only ever act strictly by their very nature. People could learn a lot from the truths our pets live.
I’ll always love and miss him.

In my talks with the vet they seem to think he had some preexisting heart condition. He had a heart murmur, but the vet said (during the initial diagnosis) that it likely wouldn’t be of concern. Unfortunately, it’s now too late.
It’s strange and lonely not having him waiting by my door in the morning when I wake. Or coming home from work and he’s not in one of the usual three places demanding my attention. There’s just such a large degree of emptiness that I didn’t really anticipate.
I often have dreams about things happening to my cats, and it always hurts or feels awful. I didn’t expect to lose my buddy this soon.

Man… I have no real reason to bump this other than that I’m just sat here thinking about how much I love my orange tabby girl. She’s just a perfect little angel and I feel very blessed by her presence in my life. She’s always by my side, and the unconditional love she fills my life with is something I don’t know that I am worthy of.
I love her with my entire heart.
