Saint Louis can never have anything nice.

STL has no shortage of abandoned buildings, but given the location of this one and the total destruction of the structure, I think St. Liborius is a total loss. Another magnificent old structure left to crumble in the wrong rust belt neighborhood.

Too early for Hell-Ride jokes??
That place looked amazing, I would have loved to skate it one day. Hopefully they end up with something just as unique in the future. RiP

Skated there in April, only got an hour in and I live in another state so I'm just glad I got to go.
-
Always wanted to go to this place. Such a bummer. Glad no one was hurt
-
Was this the one that appeared on McCrank’s show on vice?

Yep

That sucks. I'd never been but the photos always looked like they did such a good job.
-
fucked up, they put so much work into the park. glad nobody got hurt at least.
-
Maybe Nyjah Huston will make a donation to repair the damage.
-
Goddamned shame. That place looked absolutely incredible. Kind of like World park times a million. Seeing an older video of people skating in there moved me to tears. To any structural engineers, what do you suspect is now the likely outcome for the building? After a fire like this, is there any chance of the structure remaining stable enough to be gutted and renovated? Or will it need to be knocked down?
Building skateparks in abandoned churches is such a cool idea. It makes me realize how important to me the ambience of a spot is. Things like trees, wildlife, foot/car traffic, sounds, walls, sky. Easily as important as the obstacles themselves. I would be inspired to skate under vaulted ceilings and stained glass.
If they can't rebuild in St. Laborious maybe there's another church in St. Louis they can build in.
-
That is a such a bummer, the whole place was insane terrain, so sorry to St. Louis shredders.
From the news vids, it's probably a complete destruction and/or repairs would cost millions.
-
Shitty. Hope they had insurance.
-
Damn, that place was iconic.

Bummer, that church was beautiful.
There’s something I find quite precious about a church amongst cityscape. Even as a non religious individual.

It's payday - kick in a few bucks.

The building is 100% done. Even before the fire they had to constantly do work to the building to keep it up to code. On the bright side this is getting a lot of attention in the industry and saint Louis has no shortage of abandoned buildings. I might be optimistic but this could be a good thing in the end. If there’s enough hype/donations a new space can be used. The khvt guys thrive on this stuff. There’s really nothing to do in saint Louis but get drunk, watch sports, and build shit. The real estate values are so low that finding a new building won’t be hard if there’s some money involved.

Not a whole lotta people "posing as punk" in North St. Louis, but the reports are an electrical fire. This was a very old church which was abandoned for almost 30 years before they took over, and I presume that virtually nothing was up to code.
-
frickin posers burned down the skate ramp
-
That ramp looked so beautiful. Such a cool-looking spot amongst the old church architecture. What a shame.
