Who are some pros that had some strange sponsor lists? Not like McDonalds or Toyota or whatever, but skate brands that don't seem to match up.
Ex. - I always thought it was weird that Jeff Lenoce was on Baker and Lakai - with most Baker riders being on Emerica or Van's, Jeff on Lakai always seemed odd to me. Pretty rad for him to be in Baker 3 and Fully Flared tho.

Chris Troy and Jon Allie on Gold wheels

I actually really liked him on Fallen, I had a few pairs of his shoe that were really good.
Asta on Santa Cruz does suck.
-
Everyone who got on Etnies when they kicked off Mike V / Chris Lambert / Fabrizio Santos / Carlos DeAndrade
they kept like half the team (maybe just Sheckler?) and got Zered, Arto, Stefan, Bastien, Rune

Wasn't Birdman sponsored by milk for a minute? Sorry Birdman, you are a god etc..
-
Pedro Barros has some weird sponsors giving his hesh image
-
Jordan Hoffart on Stereo made my heart hurt 💔 both parties should’ve hung it up at that point.

Leticia and him sponsored by petrobras

I’m assuming westgate and apples get a bag from element, but a waste of talent. Especially westgate. Would be better suited on a brand like Real or Toy Machine.
-
jimmy carlin on mystery and fallen makes absolutely zero sense
-
Nick Boserio on Polar. I mean it’s not wrong but I watch him skate and immediately think about GX1000
-
Louie Lopez: seeing him smiling, sometimes brace faced, riding around effortlessly just doesn’t fit a brand with the word ‘Fuck’ in it and weird horror novel graphics.
-
franky villani on primitive and new balance comes to mind
Could see him in some Duffs if they hadn’t folded.
-
Fred Gall - Trackers, Recs, Workshop was kinda weird too.
-
Braydon, Koston, Guy, & TK on Neff

Good answer, I remember their Arto acquisition made me consider buying Etnies for the first time. Even though I didn't like Etnies at the time (mainly cause of Sheckler) I got the black and white Arto's as soon as they dropped. I loved those shoes. Remember Etnies got Boulala too in a weird turn of events. His Etnies shoes were kinda lame but I had numerous pairs of his Osiris creepers.
-
Eli still on Tenga?
Leticia rides for magnums no?
-

I see what you mean but him with emile laurent makes it normal to me, also hes a euro guy gx doesn't have any europeans do they
-
Quim Cardona had some mismatching sponsors. Airwalk, sushi wheels, domestics, organika (politic? I forget), through his timeline. Love the dude though.

That guy had no idea Michael Jackson had any “legal issues” either. They’ve clearly just emerged from a bomb shelter or woke up from a 30 year coma

Wooten, remilard and Eman are the only Santa Cruz riders that make sense…I’ll throw Blake in there too.

I'm pretty sure that in an interview Jeremy Klein said he'd gotten Gonz on only because Tracker had promised to him a signature truck- but then they rescinded the offer so he quit and went back to Indy.
-
Ben Gore - Dekline, Globe, Stereo, and Billabong
Nilton Neves and Lee Smith - Santa Cruz

Interesting to me that people have such strong opinions on truck sponsors, I don't really think of most of the truck brands as having that distinct of a brand identity that any skater would or wouldn't fit.
Only exceptions I can think of are Venture (tech ledge skaters, east coast, baggy clothes, etc) and ACE (pool/transition skaters, pacific northwest, slappy guys, old guys, etc).
-
Shmatty & t spliff on mystery

Venture has Kader, had Dan Drehobl, and most of the Quasi team. Ace has most of the Limo dudes now, Jack O Grady, etc. It seems that your perception of these brands is not represented by who actually rides for them.
-
Currently I'd say Dilo:
Jacuzzi, Venture, Hrs, Shake Junt

You categorized 2/4 of the big truck companies...
How many transition focused skaters are on Thunder? There's Zion, Jimmy Wilkins, and kinda Ishod... kinda. But most of their team are pretty much traditional street skaters.
Indy's whole schtick is gnarly/hellride, but that's been shifting a little bit for a while now.
Imo, trucks are some of the most distinct brands, and they kind of have to stick out in their own right since the market is so limited

PETROBRAS just a corrupt company from brasil that probably used then to wash some money, worst part is that they both knew for sure and took it anyway...

Euro guy means Australian? My English is atrocious so I think I misunderstood the last comment

Weird to not see Yuto as he was the first person to pop on my list. Beside his sponsors out side of skating (Delta Airlines and that sort), April and Supreme is a crazy mash up.

Came here to say this
Cody Chapman is a weird one
Uma, Indy, Lakai, Spitfire
John Gardner honorable mention with Creature / DC
I don’t think it’ll happen but if Ray Bourne actually got on Last Resort that would be cursed.

Can't wait to see how dashawn jordan divies up his clips for the essentia water video and the ashoc energy video, who gets the big laser flip clip??

Frankie should spearhead the Airwalk comeback & NB# should turn his pro model into a team shoe, (I'm bummed that shoe has his name on it).

Daniel Shimuzu on Heroin and Nike SB at the same time
Chet Childress also had those sponsors at the same time.

if you look at late 80s early 90s pics of Gonz he's ridden pretty much every truck, I think it was probably just regular Gonz madness of wanting to ride every set up possible, I think he was Tracker in the 80s too, I know he had a least 1 venture ad.

LL is on a weird one. FA, Yeti, Oakley and Noah. It’s kind of a mash up of just WTF sponsors right now?
-
Who will be sponsored by flixbus?
Absolutely fire niche bus company reference. I had to take flixbus twice a week for a couple months. One time our engine exploded on the highway and we were stranded for five hours, they wouldn’t even give anyone a refund or discount on their next ticket lol

Tony Hawk was on Club Med at one point in his career. Guess that led to at least one of his three divorces.

When I found out Greg Lutzka quit Amy’s Kitchen for some meal prep company, I was tripping that Amy’s would sponsor skateboarders. I asked Greg why he split with Amy and he just said he was stoked on this meal prep company and liked the food. Amy’s had just started opening fast food chains, and I was crushing canned lentils pretty often. I was surprised Greg went into his message requests and replied. I thought it would be funny to receive a fat box of canned lentils or some coupons for the drive through, so I tagged them in skate footage on ig and they ended up sharing it. I was drunk in my garage laughing like an idiot, got The Lutz on the line talking snack sponsors, and chasing Amy like I’m about to date his ex. I waited a cool couple hours to shoot my next shot, and when I asked for some lentils, they left me on read and deleted the story. Amy, come back

That Lutzka Amy’s kitchen copypasta is pretty fried. Good shit. Those vegetarian microwave burritos are mad good for a microwave burrito

DC plan b Cole was his attempt at being a non threatening household name. But yeah what a weird phase. Missed out on a lot of skull graphics to add to his ouvre of pro graphics. What a damn shame.
Conversely, who would fit on hours is yours. Seems like the targeted demographic is dudes like Bobby Dekeyzer but nobody seems fashion forward really

What actually happened with Hours/ HRS…first it was Ellington and Herman, and that kid Keith from LES park. Then ellingtons HRS and Herman’s Hours is Yours were 2 different things. Now Ellington skates for a china-exclusive shoe brand? What the hell is really going on with all of that

Kinda on this topic, at the Lausanne contest over the weekend I noticed Kairi Netsuke riding Kalis vulcs and had a DC sticker on his board but he wore a visible Nike SB shirt during Finals.. I assume he got on the swoosh over the weekend but I found it odd he still rocked the DC sticker visibly on his board still. So is he the first to ride for Nike and Zero at the same time?
-
Made sense at the time but Gilbert Crockett black-boxed to within an inch of his life makes me laugh.
-
Anyone who rides for DVS. They all have the most random board sponsors, and I have no clue how DVS is still in business. When was the last time you saw someone skating in the 1 of 5 models that are the exact same thing, just named differently?
