I just feel like people don't talk about this trick compared to how much they talk about the part and its so insane especially for the time and how old he was

it's a sick one for sure. Ed Templeton was also doing them at least a year before Video Days came out, he talks about it in an interview of his in the November '90 issue of Thrasher. Perhaps Guy read it and wanted to try it too
