Looking to mix it up this paycheck.
What was your favourite shoe last year ? Mine was the humble NB 272. Simple beauty of a shoe with a great flick
-
chronologically, this year it was/is:

Yeah i kinda agree but here is the thing, I got the tan coloured old Tom Penny looking ones and I totally agree. Felt amazing, skated great and lasted ages.
Then I got this colour way and they were kinda shit. Really stiff sole on them that wouldn't break in.

Really enjoyed the figgy g6 but the number 1 pick is the 808, never got foot, knee, or back pain skating that shoe
-
1010s easily
Some niggles on the fit aside, the 1010 looks great and skates great. If they figured out how to get sizing right, or my feet weren't some ogre-ish shape, I'd be all I wear.
Love how they look as a chiller too, got another pair to wear for work.
-
I can't remember all the shoes I skated last year, but two really impressed me.
1. NB# Foy. Amazing board feel, no break in period, great durability.
And now here's a crazy one, only bought it because it was comically cheap at like 70% off:
2. STATE Leland Fred Gall. Such a nice shoe, basically everything that made the NB# great, but with a more comfortable insole. They didn't look super high quality, but the performance was great.
-
Regret talking to everyone I can this past year about how great the Josl1n is. Now with Ben and Mooseandsquirrel and Core Dan talking them up it’s hard to get my size now unless it’s full retail :(
But there you go: Josl1n. It’s a perfect skate shoe and it fits my foot very well.

Or the Michelin Marana which Joslin's shoe was based off. Long break in period but the sole really lasts as long as advertised.
-
I have to agree the NB# shoes are realllly nice but frig they are expensive... there are a fuck ton of shoes I see on sale at zumiez right now from them too but still like $80 CAD for the ones I want (the villani) I guess though at the end of the day I spent $60 on the other shoes I got its only $20 more but I suppose it adds up when you are buying so many
-
NB# did it for me last year. In order of awesomeness, three great shoes:
1. 600
2. 508
3. 440
I honestly feel like can skate just NB#s for the rest of my life. Not that there aren't great shoes from other brands, but still. My old ass feet love them. And I haven't even tried all their models out yet.
Plus I gotta mention the fact that their customer service is A+++. Thank you. You know who you are.
-
I skated a bunch of sole techs, and going through footage recently I’d say it was probably the Figgy G6 or Joslin with the Michelin cupsole. Solid shoes. But on the whole, the last few years… deep down…
440 High without a doubt
-
I've only been skating the Crockett high since 2022. The only Vans I've ever enjoyed skating in and luckily Gil consistently puts out colorways I find appealing.
-
Wino slip-cup was my shoe of the year. You’ll be missed old friend.
-
Not the most exciting answer but skated the blazers mid this year and easily my all time favorite shoe. Easily the most durable vulc I’ve skated. I’m lucky if a pair of vans last be 6 weeks but I’ve been getting about three months (with shoe goo). Even tried not shoe gooing my last pair and they still held up two months.
-
I took the advice of Slappers and wore my 1010s as a street shoe for a month or two in order to break them in, and they turned out to be probably the most comfortable, durable and capable skate shoe I've ever owned.
-
#1-440
#2-Gt blazer
The only 2 shoes I skated last year.
-

Yeah I had the same experience with my 1010s. I think I skated mine for 5-6 months while I was skating 2-3 times a week. I probably could've gotten a few more sessions out of them too. The upper never ripped but I wore a hole through the foam in the sole. Looking back on the year, all of my favorite clips were filmed in my 1010s.
-
Been forums and club c's for me pretty much last two years
When asics drop in aus or the new ishod might try something new
-
Wino slip-cup was my shoe of the year.
If these things for me like the first pair has these will be my shoe of the year for many more to come
-
Skated 8 pairs of 1010's for 2023. Does a great job protecting your feet, only complaint is I wish the sole was grippier and lasted longer
-
92 half cab.
I got the 18 east ones on ice I’m excited to skate.
I wish I bought the vans palace low. The one that was like a combo of a half cab and the mike Carroll shoe. The white pair with the black tongue looked sick.
-
I got my first pair of Blazers at the end of 2022. I think every other shoe I had in 23 was a Blazer. I get it. I get why the shoe is a staple. It's such a good shoe. It's easy to find them on cheap or on sale. there are a million colors. They fit. It's so easy to walk into the shop and get a pair or find some online.
on top of that, they skate well.
-
1010s
440 highs
440 lows
-
If you're a thin shoe person and don't mind using super glue or shoe goo on canvas, chuck 70s are the way to go. They look good with everything and are significantly more durable than the "skate" ctas (if you are diligent about patching the canvas). I just brush on some gorilla glue on ollie hole areas before they even happen and the shoes don't blow out.
I hate skating the nylon/leather ones, but I got my hands on a pair of all suede fastbreaks and a few pairs of the leather alltimers ones, and that shoe kicks ass too when made with the right materials.
-
Rowan 2
Hated it at first try on, then adjusted sizing, broke it in before skating and now I love it.
Roomy, grippy, flicky and cushy.
Maybe 2024 will bring some better colorways.
-
The first Rowan's have been a staple for me
But I got some One-Star pros for cheap and found them super fun to skate. I loved Trapasso's shoe from like 10 years ago and haven't rode Converse since, and the one star is close enough to the same for me.
-
Last Resort - VM-001 Hi's
Easy to skate straight out of the box, super durable, simple design with nice color ways, and never ripped a shoe lace.
-
92 half cab.

I wish I bought the vans palace low. The one that was like a combo of a half cab and the mike Carroll shoe. The white pair with the black tongue looked sick.
i messed up on both of these: didn’t get.
i am still on the place of liking the way classic vulcanized shoes look (half cabs, chuck 70s), and then noticing that i skate/feel a little better in a more solid shoe.
skated dunks, some uprise 92 half cabs that i loved, and then the surprise shoe at the buzzer were the nb 808s. those skate great for me.
-
fastbreaks are my fav and fit my feet perfectly. skating the all leather joints and theyre durable. downside is the dove soap bar ass outsole.
also cons needs to ditch the nylon material for an all suede and we good
-
I skated two pairs of the vegan colorway of the emerica quentin and two pairs of the vegan es swift 1.5. Simple cupsole for the win, plus one for the tounge straps. Those cupsoles broken in are the perfect combo of board feel and stability for me.
Other than that, just a pair of KSLs which was a little too much shoe for me (great for heelflips though!) and that was my whole year.
-
Cons Fastbreaks for sure

I feel like we like all the same stuff from board shape to shoes. I love skating dunks but they're harder to come up on than any other shoe. Cool to hear you like the NB 808s. I have been really curious about wanting to try them. I loved the 1010's and had 2 pairs but didn't really skate them too much because I look really dumb in them lol. They did skate good. I mostly wore them when walking around and stuff. The all brown 808s were really sick. Maybe I'll give them a try.
-
1. NB 306 Slip on
2. NB 212
3. Vans Old Skools but with Velcro rather than laces. I’m always down to skate any shoe with Velcro laces

That nylon is why I didn't skate a second pair, that shoe/upper bags out so fast. Suede or all leather (them alltimers ;)) and I'd get another pair.

correct.
i’m skating the sorta ‘beef and broccoli’ (brown) 808s. most of the other cw’s were not my fave.
i wear 10 in dunks, 10.5 in the 808s. even then i thought i would need to send them back for being tight in the toebox. they broke in, and im thankful i kept the course. that being said, very different experience compared to something like half-cabs, the 808s are like little clubs, they club my board around. i quite like that, definitely reminiscent of a late 90s shoe.
i plan on not skating them exclusively, but they are a nice contingency for when im feeling extra hurt.
dunks and 1010s….most days im skating in 501s, that are pretty close to fitting. i know i know, how gross of me. occasionally i’ll branch out and skate in 13mwz or B01 pants. the dunks and the 1010s stick out, and look a tad juvenile. i am sensitive.
interested in hearing how those 18 easts go.
can’t believe i dropped the ball on those and the scott kane’s
-
The AVEs really grew on me this last year I know they didn’t come out the last year but it’s a tie with those and the 1010
-
Cons Fastbreaks for sure
Skated two pairs, the Alltimers collab and Sage's Navy Blue colour-way loved them both.
Lately I've been skating the NB 480 and enjoying the change.
-
Skating a broken-in pair of 808s made me finally understand what Matthew McConaughy is experiencing in those Lincoln commercials.
-
Emerica slip cup and the NB440, low or high both are fantastic
-
Lakai Terrace or Adidas Puigs if you can find them (NOT THE INDOORS). I've posted a lot about both these shoes recently lol. I'd say the terraces "feel" a bit better when skating, but the puigs have features, like the hidden lace loops, that people also might appreciate more. Honorable mentions go to the 808 and wino cup.

Go with 480's if you want a dunk like shoe. They were close enough for me

I would do 1/2 a size up especially if you have wide feet. The upper took forever to break in they were squeezing my feet even as chillers. Took me 2 weeks of skating for them to finally feel comfortable and maintained it's shape even by the end of the 3rd month.

480 hi and low
Blazer mids

Nice, I did the same thing - grabbed a pair of ASICS Japan Pros to switch it up. I already miss the Fastbreaks (I still have a couple pairs on ice, including the Sage ones), but I can tell the ASICS sole is going to last longer than the Fastbreak ones were so it might be a little while before I’m back.

the Ave's with some shoe goo in the ollie patch were great shoes. (I just learned that vulc shos are a no-go for me anymore. I got arch pains that only supportive cupsoles could heal)
-
Man, there should have been a poll. It would be interesting to see which brand had the most fav's.
It kind of seems like NB is the clear winner, but still curious by how much.

Adidas Top Ten I got at Burlington for $25 were my favorite shoes of last year. Honestly one of the best shoes I’ve ever skated.
That being said, New Balance is undeniable. 1010 is an all timer.

Tan ones are all suede, probably that's why. I skated every possible cw of the shoe and always the one without leather felt nicer but still they were great.

I second this. Might be the best shoes I ever skated next to the Lynx HE

Yeah. I've never worn Joslin's, but the Marana does have a narrow front area in comparison to most other skate shoes I've used (half-cab, mid-sk8, SB satire, Vans Ave).

My black/red 808s broke in nicely just walking in them and I can bend the sole quite effortlessly. I mean they're stiffer than most shoes for sure but not what I've read from reviews.

NB 480 Hightop
no contest
@rothdigga
I know my @'s wont work until I have enough posts.
-
NB is a big corporation but they feel the least corporate scummy vs Nike and Adidas. Their colorways are "interesting" like Jake Hayes' Viagra blue 272, but they pay Tom Karangelov and Jordan Taylor which is good in my books.
-
Skating the same pair of Adidas Forum since 2022. Obviously I don’t skate too often but I love those. I would like to try the Reebok Club C Bulc or the NB 480 high but it seems those NB aren’t sold in Japan
-
My fav shoe last year was not specifically a skate shoe, the Asics x Dime GT-2160 is such a comfortable shoe. It was the only shoe I had to pay resell for last year but was worth it, that gel cushioning is next level for all day wear and perfect post skate sesh.
Other than that I mostly skated my all time favs (SB Dunks and DC Lynx) but in between getting injuries I discovered the Adidas Pro Model and tried the NB# 808. Loved the pro model and bought a second pair, and then was just getting used to/breaking in the 808s before re-injury.

Of course emerica is winning, they were live in the poll before Van's was? Not saying Vans out sold Emerica based on this forum (I'd wager they did tho) but that would make sense (if you had any...) because anyone who wanted to vote Vans....couldn't?

NB bodied everyone. Brands gotta stop playing with peoples feets. Absorb fuckin works. Zoom is fuckin placebo effect garbage.
That orange hexagon pattern shit is the beez kneez tho. That zoom works.. hmmm orange foammyst betge answer because that's what's in the game changer too.
My second place shoe Cons Fast Break also one of my favorite candy bars. Tho I don't do it anymore. Milk chocolate hates me now
3rd place is definitely the Vans Blue VCU slip. I had 4 pairs of them. Their orange foam is cut wrongly. They had it right but now it's the wrong cush.
It kinda works. Maybe if it was like 5mm thicker. Like the Ishod decon hex and the Game changer
Im full on the 808/1010 thing tho. I probably would say fuck my feet if a good colourway isn't available. Just grab whatever.
There's no fuckin way baby blue and grey is touching my feet ever. Existence would be unmade. it's in an old book somewhere. We don't do that.
That shit makes me think of like soft core hip hop. Sounds like puff daddy or jah rule.
Bullshit ass Jewelery box beats. Triangle hits every 14th bar. Loudest thing in the mix.
Puek!!!
I don't wanna look nothing like a Brandon Bieble or a Justin Bieber or whatever pill slinging methadone max in his swishy pants and air max.
The black and red 808s the brown ones and like grey and green? I can't remember are so good. It should be illegal. It's too good.
They meshed perfectly into my individual style. Tons of compliments but not as many as the blue suede Vans slips.
Mad people tripped on those. You can skate in those dress shoes? Lol wut!?!
Tfunk pro it should have been

NB #600 for me. With #574 a close 2nd.
Ive said it before, but I dont mind saying it again:
NB is the bestest. Best durability, best comfort
-
If you're a thin shoe person and don't mind using super glue or shoe goo on canvas, chuck 70s are the way to go. They look good with everything and are significantly more durable than the "skate" ctas (if you are diligent about patching the canvas). I just brush on some gorilla glue on ollie hole areas before they even happen and the shoes don't blow out.
How is the grip though?

92 half cab.
I got the 18 east ones on ice I’m excited to skate.
I wish I bought the vans palace low. The one that was like a combo of a half cab and the mike Carroll shoe. The white pair with the black tongue looked sick.
i messed up on both of these: didn’t get.
i am still on the place of liking the way classic vulcanized shoes look (half cabs, chuck 70s), and then noticing that i skate/feel a little better in a more solid shoe.
skated dunks, some uprise 92 half cabs that i loved, and then the surprise shoe at the buzzer were the nb 808s. those skate great for me.
Maybe I'll give them a try.
correct.
i’m skating the sorta ‘beef and broccoli’ (brown) 808s. most of the other cw’s were not my fave.
i wear 10 in dunks, 10.5 in the 808s. even then i thought i would need to send them back for being tight in the toebox. they broke in, and im thankful i kept the course. that being said, very different experience compared to something like half-cabs, the 808s are like little clubs, they club my board around. i quite like that, definitely reminiscent of a late 90s shoe.
i plan on not skating them exclusively, but they are a nice contingency for when im feeling extra hurt.
dunks and 1010s….most days im skating in 501s, that are pretty close to fitting. i know i know, how gross of me. occasionally i’ll branch out and skate in 13mwz or B01 pants. the dunks and the 1010s stick out, and look a tad juvenile. i am sensitive.
interested in hearing how those 18 easts go.
can’t believe i dropped the ball on those and the scott kane’s
I almost solely skate in 505s so just the just like the 501s just with a zipper. I have a ton of pairs and a ton of dickies too but usually I just wear Levi’s. I look more normal in regular fit. I did pick up a pair of 18 east brown cords and I do really like the fit. More expensive than my other pants but definitely worth it.
-
only problem with chuck 70's is that they're made super narrow and long. for me, half size down they're too narrow for my toes, normal size they're slightly too long.
-
That poll is a massacre (https://www.thecoli.com/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/mjlol.png)
Vans beating Nike!
-
i think most nb shoes ugly as hell especially the 480s but i for sure wanna try the 1010s or 808s
-
The NB# 600 is top of the list.
Other than that I really liked the Lakai Atlantic.
-
NB should start sponsoring Slap as a collective lol
-
last year I skated half cabs, tyshawn mids, and cons fastbreaks.
I'd have to say the fastbreaks are my favorite with support, comfort, and how they skate. also are pretty damn durable and have lasted me awhile.
really love halfcabs and my tyshawns too, even though the flick has died down pretty badly with wear, still some great feeling kicks.
have another pair of halfcabs and some new fastbreaks to skate this year when my current rotation comes to its end.
might have to try out the 440 highs cuz i cant skate lows and everyone raves about the 440 highs. will be a 2025 purchase tho, gotta chill with the shoe buying w my broke ass!
-
NB should start sponsoring Slap as a collective lol
Or make a 440 slap cw as I've been asking forever and will keep doing it.
-

The 440 when they were at closeout eBay prices was the unofficial shoe of Slap. Every image on "Post the shoes you're wearing. " was the 440 in the same colorway

Someone refresh my memory of the NB 440s, someone was working for an online retailer that was listing on eBay. And his boss insisted he price them at $25 which was below MSRP or something?
Expand Quote
Numeric 440 for $23 shipped. Not the best colorway but still lots of sizes left.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/324121946503
Edit: There's also a 20% off coupon over $25 that these are eligible for, so you can basically get like a free pair of socks from Reebok or some lovely silk panties to keep cool in the summer heat.
https://www.ebay.com/e/fashion/fashion-sfc-7-27?_sop=2&rt=nc
From what I remember, I think @rothdigga confirmed that someone within NB messed up and offloaded a bunch of those 440s on their closeout eBay account when they weren't supposed to. Pretty sure they were supposed to be full price? The company decided to honor all the sales though, which is super dope of them.

Super good, soles are durable! I've never gone through an outsole like I typically do in Vans.
I can see them not working for everyone, especiallythose with wide feet. They definitely are long and narrow.

"What were your favorite foot jawns last year?"
-
Been on a Reebok club c mid kick lately, don’t see me going back to anything core for a moment
-
Honestly, I think New Balance is doing the best job, honorable mention to Etnies (the Josl1n is a GREAT shoe).
I still skate some blazer mids form time to time but I feel the upper material quality is not on par with what it used to be 10 years ago.
I want to like adidas but it's difficult to find something great fitting/looking appart from the Puigs and the superstars.
-
Every year its the Joslin and Marana etnies. I always skate these in between trying other shoes as homebase.
2023 had me enjoying Es Quattro (skated 1) and KSL (skated 2) the most. Also skated Blazer Mids again and remembered how much I enjoyed those in the past
In 2024, I'm aiming to skate these and find my favorites:
440 HI
Silo SC
MC Rap Hi
OG-1
Figgy G6

I don't wanna look nothing like a Brandon Bieble or a Justin Bieber or whatever pill slinging methadone max in his swishy pants and air max.

I skated NB# 508s all year. I think this is my second year skating them exclusively.
I really like them. Been thinking of trying a pair of Busenitz to switch it up a bit.
-
Nike Shane.
BTW, does anyone here have knowledge why they've not been selling those anymore for the better part of last year - and if they come back?
Janoskis are good too but they are a bit more flimsy especially from the heel area... I just got Busenitz vulc, haven't skated them yet.
-
2024 I skated NB 425’s and 440v2’s. I would skate both again but didn’t like either enough to stock up several pairs. I tried 1010’s two different times this year and couldn’t even walk around my house for 5 minutes in them. Depending on what the Reynolds are like I may just get some 508’s and ride with those for a while.
-
2024 I skated
Leo
Blazer GT low
Vans crocket high quasi
Wairmax
Zahba Zion
Copa nationale (not the more recent copa)
Janoski
Vertabrae
Currently skating my first SB dunk
As someone who started skating again 1.5 yrs ago those are basically all the shoes I skated except for like the Ishod 1 and a couple others. So in a total beginner and mostly all the wear and tear is mostly from trick attempts. The adidas copa was by far my least favorite. Had barely any grip and the impact protection was ass. Next was the vertebrae. The outsole lasted the least out of all of them. Third least favorite was probably the vans crocket but only because it was canvas.
Three favs and are basically gonna be my go to skate shoes from now on are:
Wairmax. Love Ishod, love the design, love how it hugs your entire foot when you lace them, amazing look down factor, probably the best board feel of any shoe I’ve skated Just not very durable.
Janoski, just a great all around skate shoe, classic design. Not much to say I just liked it.
Any SB dunk. Easily my favorite shoe I’ve skated so far. I get why a lot of people skate these.

-
Skated in all the usual suspects in '24 for me- Dunks, Lynx, Blazers, Pro Model, etc.
Only new model I tried was the 1010 for one sesh and hated it, prob needs a few more sessions to get properly broken in like the 808 but think I like em more for the gym.
The Pro Shell Heitor's skate amazingly right away though, so will go with that one.

100%. The 508 is such a well-ventilated thin cupsole. Also they look really great on foot. Too narrow around the midfoot for me unfortunately.
Tiago's hurt my feet (achilles, plantar fascitis) and kyle walker 1s were to thin in the front foot. 440v2 high work really well so far so that might be my favorite shoe of 2024
-
cons cts pro in black suede. never fails on me.
also probably these white leather pro keds mid tops i thrifted. never skated pro keds but they are 'athletic' with the softer sole and foxing tape. excited to try them.
-
NB 600. The combo of the 440 and 1010 I always wanted. Great overall performance, durability, and looks.
-
Emerica Wino cup. Best shoe emerica had in a long time. Its a damn shame they discontinued it.
-
2024 I skated:
NB# 480--great shoe once broken in. Fit is a bit large for me but love the arch support and the grip is unparalleled.
SB Dunks--always a quality skate shoe and the one I think I skated the most this year (with aftermarket insoles).
Vans AVE2--narrow but once broken in skate really well. I dig the combination of support and boardfeel. Grip is quality, too.
Vans Rowan2--good cupsole offering with excellent support and boardfeel. I don't really care for the aesthetics of this shoe so much, but it skates well, and I don't need to swap out the insoles, so I am backing it but won't be wearing it as a chiller.
I tried out the WairMax and wanted to like it but I just don't like the way it looks. Skates pretty well for me with other insoles as does the Nike Leo which I also skated some this year. Afraid after 35ish years of skating my body just doesn't respond as favorably to vulcs as it once did so I'm on cupsoles from here on out.

For sure. Good thing is I know I love the 508 and it works for me. Good to have a baseline to return to.
My thinking is the Busenitz seems pretty similar with the one piece toe and slightly raised heel. Long tounge seems kinda annoying tho
-
I skated LR, Nike, Cons, Asics, Vans. Hard to pick a winner, my favorite based off pure guy feeling were probably the GT blazers. They just feel like a very high quality shoe. Not that the others didnt... I am not really getting attached to shoes lately. Just kinda getting stuff on sale and there is at least 1 shoe I really like on every brand. I am finding I dont really skate better or worse using different equipment... probably because I hardly ever pop the tail anyway ;D

NB 600. The combo of the 440 and 1010 I always wanted. Great overall performance, durability, and looks.
Second this. I was little late to getting to skating the 600. Got the black pair to wear as a chiller and ended up skating them. Absolutely loved them the first time skating and took no time to get used to. Been stuck on half cabs for the past 5 or so years but the quality has been absolute shit lately. The 600 is comfy, has great board feel and protection. Would definitely recommend checking them out to anyone who hasn’t
-
Got fully off half cabs and into blazer mids. Blazer mids are well made but still vulc. Switched over to 1010 and its a wrap. I wear em for everything and my busted as body doesnt hurt after skating or standing all day
-
Emerica G6 models - KSL G6 and the Wino G6 slip cup
then tried 1010's and although I don't find them to look particularly amazing, they're the most supportive skate shoe I've ever had.
I'm on the new sal 23 reissues right now and they're actually really good quality, the suede seems treated in some way to be ultra smooth so they don't suffer from pilling. no tongue straps or removable insoles but the support is all there and the smooth leather collar is a nice touch.
-
ASICS, it’s between the VIC NBD and the Gel Splyte. Probably the VIC NBD for #1 for me though. Really wide accommodating toebox while still being pointy enough for precise flick. Really comfy midsole and extremely durable for a shoe that is nearly half mesh. Super grippy sole even in slippery indoor parks during east coast winters. Highly recommend, they feel fresh to look down at on the board.
-
NB 600
NB 440 v2
-
If they made Blazers little wider it would be shoe of every year.
i found them a little narrow as well, i also wish they were slightly wider, otherwise the most perfect skate shoe. they feel like they dont lose the shape at all, even if the rest wears out.
-
CTAS and One Stars

Since i finally beat that horrible insertional achilles tendonitis that tormented me the last four years, i'm finally able to skate whatever shoe i want again.
Since im old as fuck now i prefer cupsole over vulc.
I skated the 1010, 600, 440v2 lo and hi, Superstars, Fastbreaks, AVE 2 and some Dunks over the year.
Favourite shoe of 2024 was definitely the Cons AS-1 (with aftermarket Superfeet insole).
I really like that shoe and it hasn't much downsides besides the insole, whereas all the other mentioned shoes had several things i didn't like, for example NB sizing issues, heel slip etc.
-
Gotta go blazers mids again this year. Tried the Leo’s and they were amazing, skated super well. Almost like a blazer but just a hair thicker and more supportive.
That being said even though on paper the Leo’s were better I missed how much thinner the blazers were and went back.
I’m two and a half years on blazers and every time I try something different I go back. I have jumpers knee in both knees and am getting older so sometimes I think I need cupsoles but the lack of board feel makes me unsteady and apprehensive and I tend to get injured more (especially ankle rolls). I guess I’m just sticking with blazer mids and hoping they never stop making em

These, glad I doubled up my first pairs is finally on there last leg. Best wide toe box cupsole on the market rn just get used to the moc toe flick

I’m a big fan of the Japan Pros. Skated Fastbreaks most of 2023 and Japan Pros most of 2024.
They’re durable, the sole takes a while to wear through, grip and flick are good, and have a nice medium amount of puffy-ness.
Also kind of gives that nostalgic feeling taking a session or two to break in - vs Blazers or Fastbreaks that (to me) feel broken in right out of the box basically.

I would third this, 600s skated amazingly but they were the shoe that I sprained my ankle and fractured my foot in, so I don't know if I'll be able to go back to them out of superstition. Don't get me wrong, I don't really blame the shoes for my injury.

Thinking about which shoes I skated made me realize how little I managed to skate last year :( .
- 2 pairs of NB# 808s: these would be the perfect shoes for me if the fit was tolerable. I tried to make them work for way too long because I liked everything else about them so much and got persisting corns and bunions from it.
- Vans Rowan 2s: great overall shoe, but doesn't offer quite the level of support and cushioning that I prefer.
- DC Lynx OGs: I always come back to these. I wish the sole was a little more sturdy, otherwise these tanks are exactly what I look for in shoes.
Here's to hoping I get to spend more time on my board and burn through more shoes in 2025.

I fucking loved IPath as a kid and bought these for chillers and while they're cushy, definitely am not overly stoked on how they've worn. The suede always looks dusty and the padded tongue has worn some weird wear marks and looks like something is wrong with the shoe.

yeah the laces leave marks on the tongue, i try to keep them loosely laced so it's not that bad. my main problem with them is the lack of ventilation, i've got sweat stains on mine that are very hard to get rid of. i've read that cornstarch can help with that though so i'm gonna have to try that out. super comfortable and the brown ones actually look decent even when they're a little dirty.

Nike Wair Max perfect for me
NB440v1 awesome
NB808 good but extra stiff at first.

Nike Dunk SB Low, specifically the white/black/gum...
I skated a lot of Dunk SB highs/lows and Jordan 1s in 2024, but these are my favorite, especially after a couple sessions when they completely break in.
I have a wide foot, so I use shoe stretchers for a couple hours to relax the leather... the great thing with dunks/jordans is the outsole will grow to your foot width.
NB# 480 outsole does not, and I would have buckled my ankle instantly if skated :-\ the 1010s toecap is too tight on my big toe :o and I am not a fan of the 440 (wide) fit... sucks because I really wanted to give NB# some monies this year...

-
Dunk Fog after a few weeks of skating.
-
Asics Japan pro in the white upper black sole colorway abd the wood colorway

I've been skating Crockett Highs and Lows. The wafflecup/popcush combination has been kind to my feet
I've had over ten pairs of Crockett lows and loved all of them, one of my favourite shoes of the last decade, but the only pair of high ones I had wasn't all that. Not terrible but nowhere near as good as the low ones. Huge disappointment.

Who’s they give the all black fast break to? Sage? I didn’t get a pain but I know I’d love it. I like to skate regs fb pros with the laces wide open so it feels kinda like timbs but with a nice sole.
I miss that shit.

sage had the all navy fastbreaks that were leather or some sort of synthetic leather
the all black fastbreaks were a collab with alltimers

Been on a Reebok club c mid kick lately, don’t see me going back to anything core for a moment
Could you give more opinions about them? Have you skated different types? Like theres the 85, the Revenge, the Vintage. I just got the 85 suede unisex lows. Im now walking them a while before skating them but they look and feel like they were designed specifically for skate, just like Puma suedes or superstars. Too bad reebok doesnt have a skate branch (at least I dont know), cuz they have great looking models, the npc2, the exofit, etc

NB 440v2. After 10+ years on vulcs, it took a while to get used to cupsoles again, but definitely worth it!
-
Vans AVE 2.0 knit or regz
-
NB 480 highs in the white leather worked great for me. skated 2-3 pairs and kept another one for after the winter.
Dunks- high an low as usual work good for me, really looking forward to skate the PS8.
NB 1010s with the reworked fit- castlerock colorway- shoes fit me great now......so little time to skate, so many shoes to go through :o

The Nike SB Leo React shoe is in my top three of skate shoes (been skating for 35 years) the board feel, durability and comfort has had me buy over four pairs
This one for me too. Best Nike shoe in my opinion.
-
Adidas Busenitz the first model with the big tounge, I'm a big dude 6'2" every pair has been consistent no matter the color way nice snug and pliable after being broken in, I have been stockpiling any color I can.

The only shoes I skated 2024 were es accel and the Creager. I like how the creager skates but it gives my big toe harsh calluses on both feet and I had to take the insoles out so they fit better. That being said my favorite in 2024 was the eS Creager.
-
I love how the Nike Blazers High feel. And how they look. I think I bought 6 pairs total over the last 10 years or so. Currently skating the Mason Silvas. they also last a long-ass time.

Last year, my favorite skate shoes were the Last Resort AB VM003 Hi and the Etnies Marana Michelin. The VM003 felt great on the board and had good control. I used shoe goo on the toe to make them last longer. The Maranas don’t look the best, but the sole is super strong, and the insole helped when landing big tricks. Both shoes fit true to size and are good for wide feet.
I’ve also bought some replica clothes (https://brandreplicas.org/). Shipping was free and took about two weeks. The clothes were fine and cheap, so I don’t mind if they get messed up while skating.

Vans AVE 2.0 knit or regz
half size up, lots of time on the shoe stretcher, loosely laced.
they are a really good shoe. kinda weird but cans have my favorite stuff rn
-
New Balance 425s for cupsoles, Janoskis for vulc
-
the only shoe i put above all other shoe in recent time (past 5 years, about 15 pairs...) is Nike SB GT Blazer... it did feel hard on my toes in the beginning but man them thangs ended up perfect pretty quick and lasted 8 months of solid skating i wanna say.

Gel vicca.
