Edit: not sure where my text went but James, Laid in the above.
-
That Dystopia demo from Johnny's vid was sick
-
There's probably a ton, but I gotta go with that Ghostface/Rza song from Karim's part in Johnny's Vid
-
Goat- Let it Bleed in Fabiana’s Santa Cruz part.
-
Im not up on all the new stuff, actually never heard of the guy before it, but Tiago Lopes 333.
-
J Spaceman is an all time top 5 musician for me so I have to go with Austyn.
I have said many times before I think BDK has the best track record of picking songs ever, although I’m not sure if editors have picked any of his.
Mac Demarco
Elliott Smith
The Field Mice
The Kinks
Badbadnotgood
GBV
Cocteau Twins
Ultra Vivid Scene
Suicide
John Maus
Michael Nyman
Brian Eno
Not overly surprising as Bob has grown up around folks with great taste, not least of all his father who is one of the greatest guitarist’s in Canadian history.
Austyn has been pretty consistent as well, he’s now used four of my favourite all time musicians:
Anton Newcombe
Rowland S Howard
J Spaceman
Richard Hawley
Fred Neil
Bill Callahan
The Walkmen
Nico
We Barbarians
(Are also all good picks as well)
Also Ween into Papa M was a killer combo for Curren
-
That superchunk song for Dane barkers simulation part fit his skating really well, I go back to that one quite a bit as it leads into Rizzo Josh Wilson section nicely too
-
I’ll come running, to tie your shoooooe.
*Also, that Elliott Smith - Say Yes hip hop mashup, might’ve been this year tho I forget.
-
there are so far between good music in skate videos now. i know it's due to copyright, but I miss the old days, where a new skateboard video always introduced me to music i still like to this day.
- the old farts opinion.

https://youtu.be/sNx9zX_6OoQ
Team Dresch - Don’t try suicide (Real presents Haley Wilson)
https://youtu.be/gv7bkKjnP6w

Didn’t Ishod have that part with “Two Beers” by MF Doom in ‘23 or was it ‘22. If it was ‘23 then that’s the one. Otherwise I gotta think.
-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IN0YWg8-E1I
in the context of this part, I really enjoy this. This was a perfect clip for me.
Can’t forget the Ween song in Curren’s part either. So good.

I was pleasantly surprised Ryan Sheckler skated to Tim Buckley's Pleasant Street, wasn't expecting that for sure.
-
Second song in jon rowes quasi part was sick but in a borderline ironic sense

Same. I was then disappointed but not surprised when he said he didn't know it until his editor or whoever sent it to him.

I was also stoked when this came up in a video, I can’t remember which one it was though. Maybe a Rosenstock Bustcrew video? Not sure

Tom K in rumble pack because it’s funny. Ruben Spelta in Just Cruise 2 was different, and music, skating, editing worked well.

Zhane in FTP’s American Terrorists.
K-Ci and JoJo’s All My Life in the same video. I know it was in that hip New York video from years before as well.

huge fan of those four rock records, always a treat to hear anything from them

It came out at the verrrrryyyy end of 2022 but AntiHero’s Fantastic Voyage used one of my favorite songs, ‘Into the Light’ by Siouxsie & the Banshees. SATB is my favorite band and Antihero has used them a couple times in a couple different videos. I also hear Doobie’s song from Fantasic Voyage, ‘Electric Avenue’ by Eddy Grant allllll the time when I’m out at the bar. It always makes me wanna skate

Have you ever heard "Time Warp", the B-side of the "Electric Avenue" single? It's a legendary proto-House track and it's super good:

RIZZO in FOREVER to Cherrystones by Eugene McDaniels
Long as have my clams i dont give a damn about muddy waters
Long as have my rice and its tasting nice im gonna love your daughterssssss
love this era of political soul funk music and somehow didnt know it. Makes me feel like a million bucks when im cruising on my bike
rizzo just looks like such a cool dude on the board and the song, especially the intro is so swanky and confident. like rizzo simply cant get tripped up on cellar door locks and the beat is just so effortless and clean. great pairing
if i remember correct from the leak his orignal song was by leonard cohen too. good change.

kinda a predictable choice given the current trends, but a classy choice nonetheless. Heck, even I’ve been using them for some of my old man insta edits 👴
Mine was probably tiltwheel in the vans vid purely for nostalgiac reasons or Pontus digging up those endive demos

‘Rough Boy’ zz top, Rowan Z Vans Video by Flechas…
Not a huge fan of ZZ Top but they beat a lot of the pop metal efforts from the same time with this song despite being more of a blues rock band than a pop metal band. I thought it was Whitesnake when I first heard it.

Yeah, I was surprised that this was ZZ Top (but not surprised it's on Afterburner, the difficult follow-up to Eliminator) and immediately went onto my skate video soundtrack playlist. It's really smooth, like Rowan.
