you ever been rerouted through jersey city?
-
When I'm in new york I go to jersey
-
According to THPS Underground, Eric Sparrow is from Jersey, as is the main character that did a McTwist over a helicopter in flight. Also, Mike V is from New Jersey. And Muska visited once in his Muska mobile and gave a new board to the main character.
So, sounds pretty tight.

Go skate yr step dads parking block poosey

I'm from the PNW but I lived in Wayne and Jersey City for a year each. Once you get used to it, NJ's not a bad place at all. I miss the Italian American food out there. It was an easy commute to NYC, and the people are cool. But that's just suburban and urban north NJ. The rest of the state is pretty different from what I've heard.
-
I wish I was rerouting 2 jersey I’m stuck in Fresno rn. behind that circle k across from Wendy’s.
Ok harsh vibes already…I’m wanna know the sk8 scene tho! Take me yr blocks….and your cheeks! what are the groupies like!? Im dying for a rad story

Dood I’m actually a lil jealous. Sounds fun af! I wanna just sk8 and day drink then just sit at a dive bar in small damp corner…I’m not even joking.

I like how New Jersey has everything and nothing at the same time.

Do it man. Do it sooner than later. Move and get a cheap spot and the city is yours. NYC just a stones throw away. City that never sleeps baby.

Lived in NJ all my life.

NJ has a legit claim at producing the greatest skaters ever. Wair, Gall, Puleo, Groholski, Oyola, Cardonas, Story, O’Connor, Rizzo, Pine, Wenning, Vallely, Merlino… the list goes on.
-
Thanks for the sig brother RIP in peace
Much love to jersey

probably trolling, but I feel very honored to be included in that list. That being said, I think there was some statistic about Jersey having the most pros out of there from any state besides California.
Back to the original thread, that's cool you want to visit Jersey but if you're born and raised in California, be prepared. Especially during the winter time.

For the record, I’m a big fan, dude! I’m also from NJ originally (got my first board from Unreal Skate Shop in Somerville) so I have insane respect for anyone who is able to make it from there into the skate industry.

That's rad dude, also thank you! I think I remember there being a park in Somerville, may or may not be there anymore.

I been thinking about leaving LA for Jersey . my family has a tiny bungalow on the shore and the vibes are nice the beach is a 2 minute bike ride, there’s a small shitty skatepark that’s always empty and the train station is a block up if you ever wanna go to city and the local bar serves pizza till midnight and let’s you buy six packs to go.

Are you talking about Belmar? That’s my favorite beach.
-
Just do NYC. Better skating and food. You’ll pay way more rent/mortgage but lower property taxes than NJ and bc of mass transit you’ll avoid Jersey’s insane car taxes and tolls. The only con is the women in Jersey are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY easier and alot cheaper to buy.
-
this is some pick me shit

Im guessing manasquan, since it sounds like his is a one late bar sorta town and I think leggetts fits his description pretty well.
Both parks are empty though.
-
I’m from the Toms River area, and just moved to LA six months ago after living in Brooklyn for 3 years. I wish I moved out west sooner.
-
Skating in NJ can be summed up as crusty, hard to skate spots that are all far apart from each other, and skateparks. There are some hidden gems here though and definitely a decent skate scene, especially in North Jersey and cities like Trenton/Atlantic City further south

If he's talking about Belmar the park is gone now. Manasquan is somehow still standing after all these years

Yeah, about that…
See, I’m from San Francisco. I’ve only been to New Jersey a few times.
I don’t know more about the garden state than I do.
I do loves me some New Jersey by Nature, though!
Plus, it was the correct amount of syllables, so I just ran with it.
Please to forgive.

Holy fucking shit. I need to be less descriptive on the internet. But yeah Manasquan and the bar is leggets .
It’s nice tho, I just need a mental break , I doubt I could do more than 6 months there but all my friends grew up and bought houses outside of NYC and I figure the house is under utilized might as well try something different for a bit.
You seem to know stuff would it be a good move for a couple months?

fuck new jersey

fuck new jersey
Dude , go away.
-
fred gall and brian anderson both are there. DM them.
you can take public transit from NYC to Trenton and get to Philly for all the broke boys out there. have done it several times and its a blast. a fun trip to get the vibe and skate a bunch of cool spots. pop off the train and check out some of the towns. arguably the most east coast grit as it gets - i love it.
also, there are great waves. suck it cali.

If you got friends in the area, perhaps. The jersey shore in the winter is not good for people who don’t like time to themselves, it’s pretty sleepy. I’d imagine the jersey shore is high on the seasonal depression list, but like the whole east coast, some people love the cycle of seasonality.
Friends that have moved out of NYC (presumably for family?) might not be as available to meet up as you are imaging if they have kids and routine now.
I think you should show your friends in LA pictures of the manasquan park and tell them you’re thinking of moving across the country to have that as your local. Just to show them how few fucks you give while helping build our east coast mistique.

it baffles me that this is how you live your life… just getting on the internet and acting like a total dipshit. If you have any acquaintances in real life, and they learned of what you do - they may stop associating with you

Born and raised in So Cal but been in NJ for 9 years now. It’ll be a little shock but everyone I’ve skated with out here is cool and the vibes are always good. Come on out, I’ll skate with ya.

Hahah if the LA homies saw the parks the east coast homies had they’d cry . Honestly tho it looks like yall be getting decent new parks based on the stuff my friends skate. I grew up all over so I’m cool with a depressing winter , honestly kinda what I need. Damn I kinda wanna make this happen now .

I’m from New Jersey. I live in Jersey. I love New Jersey. I’m from south Jersey originally Camden county right outside Philadelphia. I moved to central jersey for my wife like 7 / 8 years ago, Monmouth county, after living in Philly 7ish years, and I never really believed central jersey existed before I moved here. I really like it here.
Good food, some beautiful sights, some dumps, real people. New Jersey is paradise.

Never forget the Stay Stackin crew. For a hot minute they were some of the coolest stuff on the Internet. A lot of the guys I see still skate. Some parts from their full length, always loved Pat's style.
