hopefully sober or off heroin. Saying that sincerely.

His LE part was really enjoyable. Hope he is doing well.

I remember seeing him at a contest here in Minneapolis, when he was getting Girl flow. He was about 5 years advanced from any other kid skating at that contest. He really had it.
-
Where’s that part where he skates to Bob Dylan?
-
Shame on Flip for holding a literal kid’s career hostage.
Nollie varial noseslide on that tiny china hubba was way ahead of its time.

What era would that Instagram footage be from? Looks like Really Sorry
crazy they brought him on all those trips etc. and I don't remember him having a single Ad for flip even...
What is the back story on this guy? Why was he not included in Really Sorry + seemingly kicked off, then went to LE from the sounds of it which obviously didnt pan out for anyone involved...

I've posted this several times on SLAP, but I got to film with him for a couple days a long time ago. He was one of the most naturally talented people I've ever seen skate. Most all of these tricks were first try or just throw away clips. What was crazy was when he was trying the switch tail down Brooklyn 11, the tries where he wouldn't go for it, he'd still just switch lip it like it was nothing. He did like 6 or 7 switch lips just warming up for the switch tail. Always blew my mind because 14 years ago, a switch lip on an 11 rail was still really gnarly.

Without checking, I think his time was after RS. This is more like 2004-2005.
Some of those spots are in Extremely Sorry and Artos part in Mindfield.
Did Flip ever release that trade show promo from 2005? I remember seeing it in Australia at a World Cup contest on the big screen all weekend. It had clips which ended up in both the videos I just mentioned - but I don't think it ever got released.
Kinda amazing that people like Arto can film something in '04-'05 and then 5 years later, its still heavy as fuck.

Before I started skating I saw an Eric Fletcher ad in a WWE magazine, probably for his clothing sponsor and thinking about how cool it was that a kid was in a magazine, and then once I started skating soon after, trying to find videos of him thru Limewire.
Def a big “What If” kind of career. Flip seems like they had a habit of holding footage hostage, Bastien comes to mind. Wonder who else has stacks of footage leftover

I've never even heard that guys' name. What's the story?
-
Why the watermark?
-
Because its flip skateboards property i think

Nate Sherwood did a "documentary" on Eric some time back, should still be on YouTube.
Basically, Eric had a falling out with Jeremy and Ian (I think he may have got hurt), where he claims all this wild shit about them making fun of Tom Penny's mental health issue, making money off of and promoting Shane Cross' death and being just general pieces of shit. Flip then held his footage for presumably Extremely Sorry hostage, wouldn't give it to him and ultimately gave it to him with the watermark reading "Property of Flip Skateboards". He then proceeded to struggle with substance abuse issues off and on, not sure of his status now.
But like many have said already, one of those big "what ifs" of the 2000's, as everyone speaks very highly of his ability.

when he says, "I'd be sniffin' it, shootin it, whaaattevver," it reminded me of my best friend when he was in his junkie days. just this very blasé attitude toward shooting dope.

@fineslime that's the one.
Once you cross that threshold into the spike, it becomes so normalized that you tend to forget how uncomfortable it makes other people, just like it did to yourself the first time you saw someone do that.

While we’re at it, what’s up wit Andrew Gordon? What the hell was Flip doing to those kids

I was going to ask the same thing.
This is pure conjecture, but I think I remember hearing the pressures of being sponsored took a toll on his mental health and I believe he left.
Shit, even Eric Brockman, not much came out of him post-Flip, I think he may have been getting stuff from Lucky for a bit.
Flips prestige at the time magnified these "what ifs" to such a degree as well, but it's definitely not something unique to just them.

man, I always thought Lucky was the coolest brand when I was a kid back in 2002/ 2003. for whatever reason they're stuff always stood out in CCS.

Sounds like Jeremy Fox and Ian Deacon like to hold back footage. This is the second time I have heard this about Flip (Bastien being the other one obviously).
The only other high profile case I can think of is Crailtap/MJ.
Also Danny Way, but he's holding his own footage hostage.

I still remember the TSM cover at Wilshire and liking it. Pretty sure it was at night.
I wonder if he’s talked about any other notable tricks from that footage. He could for sure still do that trick if Wilshire wasn’t bollarded to death.
