Sick, looking forward to it. Visuals look cool.
Bracing myself for the legions of oldheads coming in here with the hottest and most original "it's not what it used to be" takes
"Photosynthesis? *Sips* now that's a great video"
-
Looking forward to a new Joey O'Brien part
-
Visuals still look like as good as always which is what you look forward to in Alien videos. I’m hyped to check it, pretty sure Andy Licardi has been working for Alien for some time now so there’s a good chance this will be good.
-
Excited to see Joey O'brien and Yaje stuff
-
Can't wait to be underwhelmed
-
It feels like a copycat, like a fake account. I'm not commenting so much on the skating but everything else about it.
-
Will Frankie Spears finally bend his legs?

You’ll understand one day, baby head.

Will Frankie Spears finally bend his legs?
Lol. It’s unlikely.
Hopefully Joey O’Brien and Joey Guevara have parts.
-
why not 4/20?

I remember Brandon Nguyen being on the AWS reboot; I haven't seen him in forever. Did he get the boot or quit skating?
-

I think he still skates but chose to dip from AWS. I was really psyched on his wallrides.
-
Im really looking forward to this I really dig everyone on AWS but Im especially looking forward to the parts from Sammy Montano, Joey Guevara and especially Kevin Liedtke
-
The kids choir vibe of the song reminds me a little too much of the Wings cover from the Quasi video.
-

I second this statement
-
looking forward to more franky spears screams and a grip of people telling us this stacks up to classic AWS
didn’t this premiere in january?
-
Im stoked to see that Felipe Munhoz and Zach Mcbride are having parts.

Same. I really like this iteration of AWS. The team is so good and the boards are great too. I don't really care about it's legacy looming over everything they do now. I'm a fan.
-
Habitat is solid right now too. That edit they put out a few months ago was really good. It's sorta how, in my opinion, the current iteration of Crail is pretty solid but just very different from the classic era and some people just can't move on.

Was gonna ask the same thing, Brandon Nguyen was the sickest out of that initial reboot. Would like to see more of him skating.

Old head here
Can't wait for this!
Hell, I even kinda liked bunker down.
-
fuck it alien’s current art direction is better than anything else they’ve done since before don pendleton was in charge
i’m not even saying his graphics weren’t good but i like their current stuff much more
definitely better than their graphics from around the mindfield era until it was gone, they were mostly logo boards and the other graphics were 20% hit/80% miss, even though the video itself was great
looking forward to this although i dislike frankie spears aka budget suciu but the rest of the team is cool in my eyes
-
40 year old skater here!! is brandon wenning still on? he skated for alien workshop right?
-
Frankie Spears is one of the blandest skaters out there, he rips but i can't understand how he got such good sponsors like Dickies and Adidas. He doesn't even fit this iteration of the workshop. Could see him on April or i don't know maybe fucking Plan b
-

This guy rips. Probably who I’m most excited to see in this.

Love be the new alien, can't wait.
Great art and skaters. No cool kid garbage.

This is AWS not DGK.
Also, that whole clip screams "timecode" and especially Lennie Kirk.
Huge AWS fan, so I'm hopeful this will be solid.

It’s not that we can’t move on it’s that we watched them skip over every flow rider that would’ve kept the vibes in favor of man child and Niels and Simon who should be on habitat or alien.

Joey makes most pros look stupid. Looking forward to a Kevin Liedtke part!
-
Huge AWS and Habitat guy. I agree the AWS relaunch that had a different team than before was not well received by me initially, but over time their program, content, and product has won me over. AWS and Habitat sticking around/reviving is pretty damn incredible.

Losing Spears would maybe be addition by subtraction as well for Workshop. It’s nothing personal but I don’t enjoy his footage. Would love my opinion to change because of this new part though.

He should have continued to do occasional collabs with AWS instead of doing Darkroom. I enjoy his graphics but they aren't enough to carry an entire brand.

Short and sweet.
I think throwing all of the skaters with one or two tricks at the beginning did not make for a good video flow overall.
Zach McBride's tailslide kickflip on the big bank had a lot of momentum to it and looked great.
Super stoked for Sammy Montano at the end. He kinda looks and dresses like a person plucked out of the nineties and I love it. I love his emphasis on fakie tricks and the board tap on the angled roof.
-
I liked pretty much everything except for Sammy's part. Whoever filmed/ edited the super zoom clips for that took notes from bills book with a magnifying glass
-
I liked pretty much everything except for Sammy's part. Whoever filmed/ edited the super zoom clips for that is an asshole.
-
that was....a skate video
-
Solid video. Wish it was 2 times longer tho. Pro/am/international section in the beginning murdered the pace. Kinda wish they just opened with a longer Zach part. He rips and the song felt very Mindfield-esque. The little texas/alien mash-up was great, too.
Another excellent Sammy part
-
Pretty damn solid.
Editing/art was awesome!
-
that shit kinda rocked. I want more Joey O’Brien though.
-
Good flick.
That opening song is one of my favorite songs. Idk what it's from tho.
Check it in check it out or whatever. I'm pretty sure it's from an old tv show
-
Super random team but it works, as long as you enjoy it for what it is and don’t try to stack it up against Alien of old. Def had Mind Field vibes at times.
-

I thought the exact opposite haha!
After Kevin’s part, I wasn’t feeling it and almost turned it off. Nice to see Joey Guevara in the mix as well, wish we had a little more.
-
that was honestly phenomenal.
loved the edit, the entire thing felt more like Alien to me than the later stages of it before it died.
that zach mcbride pretzel line was fucking beautiful, deserves to be a gif
-
I been thinking about this one trick. Im pretty sure it was Sammys part.
Trick was switch crooks like Chinese Ollie fakie manny trick out. That shit was sick. That turns my mind on. I wanna see that with 80s. Back nose grinder Chinese Ollie 180 switch Manny switch bs something or other.
One could really butterfly knife the shit out of that spot and get a almost lil half a mini part. Maybe.
The tunes across the board was sick. It made me think most videos have had all good tunes lately.
-
A nice mid week surprise. Happy for 15 minutes rather than an hour of product shots and skits.
-
Good flick.

That first song is known as the “Most Mysterious Song on the Internet,” as its name and artist have not been able to be identified. There’s a whole community actively trying to find out who made it, and - as a fan of the mystery - I can’t recall any theories of it being in an old TV show. Maybe you’re just theorizing (it’s fine, the song sounds familiar to a lot of us) but if you really feel like you remember it being on a show, you should share your experience on the Subreddit, r/TheMysteriousSong. The case has grown cold as of late and any new lead is a good lead.
-
zach had the best part. joey’s was sick too.
-
I have a feeling a lot more people would be taking AWS 2.0 seriously if the team was just O’Brien, McBride, Liedtke, Montano, and Guevara.. Part of what made Alien always interesting during the Dill/AVE era was how selective they were with who got on, I mean even during the Timecode days it seemed like that. This just feels all over the place.
-
zach had the best part. joey’s was sick too.
My two favorite parts also, Zach McBride is sick. Really liked Sammy’s part. His half cab flip at 11:30 was fuckin awesome

Also needed more Jordan Powell

Sammy Montano came though with a good part, but the rest was kind of a let down. All the dudes I cared most about had like one clip, Yaje had some nice stuff. Then the rest was like 10 new kids I don’t care about. Sammy saved the last 5 minutes or so. Why do companies put on so many fucking people and bloat the fuck outta their rosters?? Like focus on the core group of stylish skaters who’ve been with the brand for a while. Nope instead let’s focus on a buncha new faces you’ve never heard of.

Yeah I think this was really the problem with the video and it was exacerbated by putting the "established guys" montage first. Baker (and lots of other companies) do this same format all the time: 2-3 full parts, often from somewhat newer up and coming guys, and a montage of the rest of the team in the middle. They present it as a video focused on the 2 full parts, and it's a treat that you get clips from the rest of the team in the middle. That's essentially what this was, 2 full parts from Zach and Sammy, with a montage from the rest of the team with a handful of clips each, except they presented it as a full length and put the montage first. Should've been branded as a Zach and Sammy video, Zach opens the video, montage in the middle, Sammy closer. Boom everyone's happy, no one's disappointed. Maybe they thought they couldn't get people to watch a "Zach and Sammy" video without promising clips from the established guys.
that being said, i liked the edit otherwise, and the skating was great. Alien does have a pretty solid team with at least 5 or 6 skaters that I find genuinely exciting (Joey O'Brien my king my lord), if they can get the branding and vibe together they could have a pretty solid program going over there.
-
I prefer Bunker Down but like Joey O’Brian. They went from Paul Lilani to these new ams that will be gone in a few years anyways. Granted Paul did leave on his own but none of these new guys have the “it” factor.
-
Sammy held it down! It's been great to see him rise from am to top pro at AWS. Trick selection was on point, and I second that 90s vibe to his kit/style that someone mentioned. His best part so far?

Great points all around. Even before Baker was doing it with regularity DGK did Blood Money with Boo & Marquise, and you could go back to Tim & Henry’s Pack of Lies. Alien just needs the faith & the insight, maybe.
-
I wanted more from some of the other guys.
I really liked Sammy’s part. Looks like Joey is going to destroy the internet with a solo part. I agree with the idea of separating this from previous Alien teams. If viewed with Mindfield and Photo as a backdrop, it doesn’t compare. However if I remove those previous videos and just watch this one, I really enjoy it.
I actually really like that Thrasher collab video the most of the new Alien. I watch it all the time. Glad Alien is still going.
-
If Don still occasionally did art and some of the Darkroom guys were on Alien with a bit of the am fat trimmed it would probably be a much more solid, well-rounded, Midwest-centric iteration of the brand. Sorta feels like a "we have Quasi at home" kinda vibe. I know I previously said I liked a lot of the recent footage, but as a full length I ended up feeling pretty mixed about that statement.
-
I was gonna use that Gwar song for my homie video 11 years ago but the homies weren't having it, so I never did. I always thought it'd be good for a skate video, but that said I don't think it fit Sammy's part at all. Oh well.
-
Sammy Montano's part was nice but such a shit song to end it with. I'm not talking about the jam session during credits, that's wasn't super either, but it still would have been better than Sammy's last song.
I will say it was a good call showing that noseslide to wall ride twice. it's an insane trick and I was so distracted by how shit the song was I sort of missed it the first time around
What's up with filming that old bitch for like 10s too? No respect for the elderly

Might be a interesting thread idea...me and my friends call it the tim & henrys formula for these types of modern videos. would be cool to get a list going of all these types of videos. I think it was jamie thomas who bought it back with the zero promo in 2006, 2 new pro parts, 2 montages, straight to the internet.
Is this even alien 2.0? half the team that was is in bunker down are gone
